Really appreciate plini, he's so down to earth and honest. I really like that his writing isnt just to be super difficult, or technically profiecient, but more focused on the actual musical aspect, so many people get so hung up on trying to get people to praise them for how difficult their stuff sounds. Plini understands that it's about whether or not the music does something for you other than representing the next challenging piece that other players cant play.

To me, Plini redefined the meaning of the old saying that "the guitar sings". Because Plini sings non-verbally and yet lyrically with his phrasing, choices regarding harmonies and how he weaves it all together with the rhythms and shifting subtly shifting tempos. He also sticks to his tone, and got me into jazz. Many have tried before, many, many times, to get me into jazz - but Plini taught me what to listen for - and not just for jazz, but a a whole new world of music. I owe him so much for it. Thank, Plini. For everything.

You know some people don't like it when really good guitar players don't really have too much explanation of how they were brought up in guitar or how they play guitar, but I find it awesome when people do that because it just to let you know they are regular people just like you and me. Plenty is definitely one of the examples of this and the fact that he brings up that how you can hear his parents washing dishes in the background if it's old stuff is just pure golden to me.

Even the Traveler guitars with no headstock are nice & easy to play immediately. It's actually really nice when moving around not to have the bulky headstock in the way & that narrow point where a neck will break most easily disappears right at the place where the neck would break. You'll never be concerned about a headstock again. Also for manufacturers it's easier to have a single piece of wood through the body because you're not having to fashion a headstock out of the wood length. Also tuning the strings in the body is an easier place to design motorized tuning devices or other advanced tuning equipment that people would care to design. I think the migration to headstockless guitars will increase to the point where the ancient low-tech headstock will eventually go away - unless someone finds that it affects tone - something nobody has yet claimed - but probably will as this approach changes.

I bought a strandberg boden 7 with tremolo and it is great... I did have to mess around with the bridge/saddles for intonation... but it sounds great... and the fretboard feels like a surface, if you get my meaning... like you are playing a classical instrument. Why doesn't Plini just say "Simon"? ...he says "my bass player".... was there a bet in there somewhere? Simon plays strandberg too!

Does the neck profile make playing hard for folks that like to wrap the thumb over the neck?
@sweetwater
@sweetwater 4 года назад
Hi, R. Scott. It's not impossible to do that with this. In the first few frets, the neck is designed to allow the thumb to be at the top of the neck for chords. As you go up the neck the shape changes to move your hand to the most ergonomic position for comfortable playing. Thanks for your interest! The neck is slim and its possible to do that but only for the 6 stringed models as the 7s are a bit wide for that thumb to crop up

I like to watch interviews like this to know if my heads in the right place, he’s great for that as he sees and conveys things so well. The great interviewer and his well thought out questions. However, I’m autistic and plini’s behaviour mimics my own, I wonder if he has any sort of condition.
