I love how the melody in 6:04 is emphasized throughout the whole EP trilogy. idk why but these parts (this one, the first part of the song Heart and towards the end of sweet nothings) give me a feeling of resolution and whenever I'm listening to the EPs in one go, these small bits make the EPs sound like a bunch of musical stories with interrelation.
Dude, I'm like geeking out about these repeated melody lines Melody from 4:28 of Selenium Forest is the same as 4:57 of Cascade, it is so epic I think there are some other repeated melodies, I think I really wonder what stories his albums hold
Man the drumming throughout this song is seriously amazing. Just actively listened to it. For sure the unsung/overlooked hero here. (In an overall great song with obviously great guitar-playing too)
@@joafus No way, he did too! Had to look it up. Glad I saw this comment, he's one of the best drummers there is. I'll have to listen through the EP again and listen to the drums.
@@figloalds yep. jakub zytecki is the one who wrote and recorded it, one of his finest solos. the note that he reaches with the bend at 5:19 gets me everytime, the song is in Eb major then suddenly goes back to Ab major and that note fits in both keys. insane transition
I literally just found this guy today and I haven't stopped listening, soo sick. I can't get over how groovy it is. As a musician too, just figuring it all out is amazing. It's hard to explain, But I guess I was looking for music like this to listen to! Wierd rhythms, tunings and a damn good groove and flow! Keep it up Plini!
@@Cotramjoxxx okay? it's a song, far more a song than most "songs" with vocals. His "best song of all time" comment is purely subjective anyway so there is no point in arguing that.
@Faust yo if you think that music with vocals are songs and instrumentals are pieces, you really need to understand how music works bro. It's the structure that makes a song, not the presence or lack of vocals. And this one has clearly demarcated song oriented structure, not an etude or piece based structure. Understand structural harmony dude.
I’m just now hearing this song and this bands songs for the first time today! I’ve been a bit down and struggling but I’m so glad I typed in this song and others ( literally been listening for 2 hours now...) They speak! This song somehow grabs hold of me and resonates within me in a loving way...WOW! The Lord gave these men a truly wonderful gift... I’m breathing in their gift and I’m thankful! Thanks to Rick Beato for sharing this talented gift on his channel! I didn’t need words today, I needed this! Blessings
I just discovered these guys by Rick Beato doing a teaching video on how to count non 4/4 time. So glad I discovered this amazing group. I have been following prog rock for 50 years now. I think Plini and the others some here have mentioned have formed a different genre within prog rock. I can't describe it yet in my own mind as there are so many cool nuances. Plini keep up the great work for years to come. I am a hobbyist drummer and love this fellow's playing and choosing his drum parts. Wow. Just masterful stuff. All of it.
@@dreams7091 he might use elements of Djent, but can you really label him as just Djent. The bass features a lot in his melodies, but he rocks a 6 string, a lot of his songs play in 4/4, and even his Sunhead album (his darkest so far) is only in drop Db tuning. His Handmade Cities album is also, imo, way to bright to be classed as Djent. His influences include Periphery, but also the likes of Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Guthrie Govan.
This is the pretty much my favourite piece of music. Discovering this EP two years ago has been one of the better things to happen to my way approaching composing.
You have lots to experience. I've listened to him since 2014 and still jam it out everyday! This song isn't actually all too hard once you get the flow of it! I use it as a warm up these days!
I literally have all his albums on iTunes just playing in one big loop. Haven't listened to anything else for the past 6 weeks. First thing I listen to in the morning and the last I listen to at night. As much as his time signatures completely fuck me up at times, it has made me really think about timing and rhythm in music. On one side it's so fucking and stunningly melodic, and the other side, the timing makes you really think and works your brain. And I just love his meaty and clean tone. Totally renewed my already undying love for the guitar. Bravo, Plini. You magnificent fellow Aussie bastard!!
Listening to this music, beholding this video, is like a fond reminder of what magic we had in the old world, and how hard we must fight to save the new one...
If you don't think 5:23 is one of the best parts of song you're wrong! Lol I've never heard someone make a guitar sound more like it's crying it's beautiful. He truly speaks through his guitar.
That's actually not Plini playing though.. that's a guest solo from Jakub Zytecki. It's Jakub playing between 5:02 and 5:35. One of my all time favorite solos. Jakub is just amazing.
@@Indiegaze I knew Jakub, as well as Stephen Taranto and some other people had done guest work on other songs but not this one. That's awesome. Thanks for letting me know! I love Jakub's music.
Dale Kay - Marco wrote it and played it on the recordings, Troy Wright played it on this tour. The audio you hear in this video is the original audio from the album.
Came here after hearing flaneur on the new EP had to decide which masterpiece was better. And tbh I still pick this song. The drumming and ambient section at 3:26 makes you feel like you're floating through a dream of good memories . Goosebumps Everytime I hear it .
I think that you are already right there with Steve Vai, Satriani, Petrucci, Govan and some more great guitarists that inspire us. And music doesn't get much better than this, as I read in another comment to your work, - of wich, sadly, I can't remember the author - but couldn't agree more. Thank you very much for the music!
Normaly i dont like Musik without voice. But here i very like to make an exception! These guys are very special. this music is so great and wonderful. thank you for sharing it with me/us!
Ahh I can't even comprehend how you put that outro together its so perfect. Honestly though you guys are the next big thing in music as far as I'm concerned
God, I remember listening to your old Halcyon demos from the Mike Portnoy forum years ago. Crazy to see how your skills have improved and evolved! You've inspired me to work on my own music, now more than ever. Thanks for the tunes, dude!
