Ok, this is about to be cheesy but I can't help it right now: Going through some gnarly stuff lately, and this could not have come at a better time. Just stop everything. All the mental turbulence. I sat down and listened to this and I swear it's borderline spiritual to me. This can just lift the burden sometimes, and take you away. Again, cheesy, but seriously I thank God that this music is out there. Not to be obsequious, but really, thank you Plini for your work. It means the world to me.
It happens to me everytime I listen to music, so it's comprehensible bro :P It's kinda weird, but everytime we go through tough times, good music appears to keep us carrying on in our lives. As if a strange force wanted to help us.
Nothing to be ashamed of man. When things are down, stop everything and evaluate where you're standing in life. You're breathing, your heart is beating and you're able to think. What's keeping you from taking a whole other turn? Only yourself. Cheers mate. Hope things will get better soon!
charvinaldo It's not cheesy, it's honest. Honest expression is not cheesy - cheesiness is the guise of honesty wrapped in cliche. I thank God for this music too, it's beautiful.
thehelixnebulashred include Plini in your band and you guys would be the ones to replace Dream Theater when they go defunct (if ever, seriously though.). You guys are absolute beasts! & with Plini, you guys would be invincible!
Gru Music please, please make some playthroughs or something! Like what do you even look like? gru is such a mystery guest solo on opening is magical btw, as is your solo album of course
Plini Hey Plini :) Got my cd/ shirt package in the mail yesterday! Trying not to over play it too much, but it's hard not to! Thank you for sharing your creativity with the world. Excited to hear more! You and Gru should team up on a song!
I think Plini's lead tone is the most emotional of them all. Just in his tone alone he's able to convey so much. I know that sounds stupid, but it's honestly like a combination of Jeff Beck and John Petrucci. When those high notes come out with just a tad of delay and verb, it sounds fucking MAGICAL. Then you add the fact that Plini is a remarkable player with technical chops and superb musicality ... holy fucking shit
Paper Moon is quite literally one of the greatest things I've ever heard. To call it a journey would be an understatement. You're truly something else, Plini.
I was listening and hit that track .. came down to your comment and thought .. MAN, is this good. I get a little Steve Vai vibe from it. Story-telling with a guitar trumps vocals for me ..
0:00 -A sudden cataclysmic event (foreshadowed in Selenium Forest) shatters the idyllic peace you have experienced atop the floating isles (that comprise Plini's cover art), sending you hurtling downward through the stratosphere. 0:44 -But then by some stroke of luck, some benevolent force slows your fall, and you drift gently back to Earth, feeling relaxed as you take in the view. I like to think of it as a metaphorical coming-to-terms with reality. Incredible work as always, Plini. You never disappoint. Stay humble.
The orchestration on the "End of Everything" blows my mind. That too coming from a guy who admittedly doesn't know much music theory, but can definitely apply what he knows well.
This was the EP that hooked me full on into prog metal. My friend kept trying to get me to into it, but I never really gave it a chance. After he dropped this my music experience changed for the better. I will be getting a Wombat Astronaut Tattoo soon. So many good memories
The more i listen to this EP, the more I'm really starting to believe that wombat astronaut may be the greatest song ever recorded. Hear me out. It's the perfect definition of what progressive music should be. No component of the song wears out it's welcome, and it moves and weaves almost effortlessly and gracefully, without a single wasted note or awkward moment, or missed beat. It's a classic example of art imitating life. It has the power to stop me dead in my tracks, no matter the time or place, what I may be doing, or how distracted I am by the pressures and obligations of the societal structure. When I press play, it scoops me up and takes me away to a place that feels both familiar, but also distant and foreign. It captures a sort of lost innocence, and makes me long for the past, while at the same time giving me hope for the future. Traveling with this song on with my buddies makes me feel as if my life is a beautiful movie being played out to it's inevitable end. It has such a genuine, sincere quality that is hard to capture adequately through words. I tried my best. :) God bless
that heart and tarred are the best songs to be brought to this planet I swear, when my son was first born I used to play it to put him to sleep. then he comes out with every piece matters another genius melody to add
@@TheWitness369 I don’t think you understand much about the internet. Without energy, it won’t function, and humanity is what gives it the electricity. So while it may outlast humanity, it won’t do that for long
Paper Moon is legit the most epic song I've ever heard. Holy shit. It's been almost two years since I discovered Plini, and I still can't get over this song.
by the way guys, yes it sounds like old tracks but i get the feeling that this is the whole point. he wanted to include all of his stuff he made during the trilogy as part of the "ending of everything". something like when your whole life passes between your eyes when you are in your last minutes, all of his songs are heard in this last part of the trilogy.
Well, it's 2023 and this album (actually all your albums) is still a wonderful, precious, unreal masterpiece and a love letter to art and to all of us, my greatest thanks for your great work Plini, you gave me more reasons to appreciate the life
OH MY SOUL!!!!! THE INTRICATE MELODIES AND PINCH HARMONICS ARE MELTING MY SOUL!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for creating (at least in my mind) possibly the most beautiful music ever made. Blessings!
This whole ep is magical, but i just have to say that I think Wombat Astronaut is a perfect song. Literally brought me to tears, it just has so much passion and emotion
Wombat Astronaut may be one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. I love the "unexpected" sound of it, with double bass and everything. So melodically and harmonically ingenious, and of course beautiful. It's a song with so much soul and power to it.
Dat Jakub solo was NUTS. Seriously, mad props to you for making the best music in the entire frigging universe. This has got to be the most inspiring stuff I've ever heard after Other Things.
The bend at 14:11 - my God. If there exists a list of greatest guitar bends of all time, this one tops it. So well executed and perfectly placed. Such fantastic phrasing overall.
The end of Paper Moon gives me a 'Count of Tuscany' by Dream Theater vibe. easter eggs aside, this ep is absolutely beautiful. I've been jamming Wombat Astronaut all day.
Is no one talking here about description that says that there is someone that is playing double bass on this EP? Sick! Never even heard a double bass! I'm gonna take a listen for that, sometime when I've got time, and gonna listen carefully!
Yea Sithu I have to agree, played over a dozen times now. A fckn masterpiece! I hear a very inspirational thematic tone that is impossible to turn a deaf ear to. To date my favorite yet! Thanks pal!
that's fucking marco? holy fuck lmao I never thought he'd play with someone as unknown as Plini, that's amazing. Makes me even happier to listen to them
Plini's not that unknown, and I think Plini probably has a wider audience at this point than the Aristocrats haha, as amazing as they are. Marco's also played with Nick Johnston -- he works as a session drummer in many cases so most likely, if he likes your project and you hire him, he'll play.
I mean...you and I both know that compared to what Marco could be doing, Plini isn't gonna be the biggest payout for him. That said, I love him for having that mindset, that if he likes it he'll do it.
Again though, The Aristocrats is hardly a big payout either. The highest paying jobs for drummers are going to be popular bands, and that often means not getting to play very interesting music. He did tour with and play for Steven Wilson not that long ago.
So, it's 00.43 here in Norway and I am listening to "The end of everything" but it's merely the end of a year. I would like to wish Plini and his fans a Happy and Great New Year. I would also like to thank Plini for 2015. I've had so many moments of enjoyments thanks to his incredible music. So...Thank you, Plini, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I want to be the first to say Wombat Astronaut moved me to tears. I can't describe how deeply this music resonates in me, and as a fellow musician I give you top props. and that artwork. that's the cutest little space explorer I've ever seen... genius stuff, please release more albums. the world needs this stuff. and I WILL collaboration with you one day. This isn't fandom speaking, its artistic ambition.
This ep is just simply magical. I've listened to plini casually in the past and relly enjoyed it , but now I might be listening religiously. Just wow ! So damn good
I just love all the references to other songs from the trilogy in this one. I've heard references to Away, Heart, Selenium Forrest, Sweet Nothings and even Other Things, yet to find some that refer to Opening and Tarred and Feathered. Brilliant EP, Plini!
37megadethfan Away @2:00 Heart at the very end and also at 13:36 and @14:36 Sweet Nothings, same as the Heart reference @13:36 and @14:36 Selenium Forest at the very beginning,@14:10 and some other places Other Things I'd say @6:05 but I don't think that one was intentional
I swear to god i didn't open my eyes the entire 17 minutes. You took me somewhere beyond this world. Biggest Plini fan here . Best wishes for your future . :)
I adore Plini for using technique solely in favor of the melody and the song. I don't even think about what he's doing, just getting lost in the music. I am familiar with Guthrie Govan's work and this way of playing the guitar reminds me of him.
This ep almost makes me so sad about everything in my life like you can feel it there but you can't pin point it but at the same time it is a happy feeling that you're moving on or something like that this ep makes me ready to face the new day
Plini is simply one of the most talented composers of this century, no one can deny. This music has more content than you can analyse the first 10 times you listen to the album. It is very hard to copy this kind of musicianship. Never heard something like this before, and I know this album since it was released
Im just starting to listen to this artist....Amazing depth here..As with the very best they seem to take the guitar to new and exiting places..Glad to take the ride...
On my special, the day I leave this planet, I want Paper Moon played at my funeral; this and Astronaut Wombat. It would be a great way to begin my journey to... well, wherever the fuck we go. Live life like you mean it. Peace, everyone.
I do not know how you got Marco to play the drums for you, but I've seen him live countless times, most with The Aristocrats, and he is an absolute monster on the skins. He fits very well with your playing and composition style, for sure. Great album and excellent playing. Conveys and invokes multiple emotions, like true music should. This album has been bookmarked since its debut and I encourage my fellow friends and musicians to, as well. Keep up the great work man
NICK MENZA NICK DUDE ARE YOU OKAY. MY NUMBER 3193891327 FUCK DUDE COME HOME PLEASE...I SEE YOU COMMENTING...YOU WERE LAST SEEN LAST YEAR BUT THIS PROVES YOU ARE STILL AROUND.
This just absolutely blows my mind. I seriously cant believe how good this is. So much virtuosity packed into 3 little songs. Its astounding. If I saw any of these performed live I seriously think I would just break down into tears haha.
Some head-cannon I've had is that, somehow, Plini mistakenly switched the names of Paper Moon and The End Of Everything; I just felt like the narrative makes more sense if the first song were titled Paper Moon, followed by the Wombat Astronaut, and the last song were titled The End Of Everything, since it incorporates elements from nearly all of Plini's previous songs, truly tying the knot to the EP Trilogy. Obviously, Plini is a genius, and he named the songs in that order for a reason (even depicting the corresponding artwork while the songs play in that order), I just wish I knew why :) @Plini, if you read this, your EP Trilogy is in my opinion the greatest collection of composed music of this century so far, with unparalleled layers of storytelling combined with your use of leitmotifs, and I look forward to what you'll bring in the future.
I can only hope this gets the millions of views it rightfully deserves! So damn refreshing to hear REAL music. You've done it again, plini! Amazing work
...... at 11:58 my true emotions came out of me while I was doing a intense workout, I never broke out like this before..... I wish plini was my mentor and teacher I need to change my self I'm 23 and still surviving never went to school for music theres no money for that but I'm trying so hard!!!!
