My wife, who is not into any kind of metal, still does not realize what a beautiful gift she gave me when she accidentally found this song and shared it with me.
Dude I empathize! My wife (brand new, October 7, 2023) digs Polyphia and wants to go see them live with me. Also we both just got into sleep token. Plini..next level. I’m 3 minutes in and blown away. After discovering Scott and Tim, I thought I was going to be hard to impress, but yet I was reassured by the grace of music’s glory yet again.
A virtuoso guitarist that puts the song first and the technical show off second. That's what makes for a successful solo career and Plini is going that way.
@@faisal1582 i agree to a degree , Malmsteen can really mess up some Classical music interpretations But i think it's just his style and personality i love most of his music for what it is, Flashy and showy But yea , The Comment described Plini quite well (coming up with such non flashy complex music will be hard but since it's not flashy it will be idk easier for someone to just cover it mindlessly without knowing the complexity of it?) Just my opinion
One of the many things I love about this is that I could play it. It's a complex piece with tonnes of melodic and harmonic variety, but Plini doesn't feel the need to spend the whole piece demonstrating he's amazing at guitar by shredding and sweep picking the whole way through. The complexity comes from its compositional sophistication, which I personally find more more interesting and impressive than your run of the mill shred guitarist.
Very well said, mate! He's very, very good at using his amazing technique for the sake of the piece and not just to show off. That's why he's such a good composer: he serves the song by writing fitting parts, he doesn't feed his ego like many of his 'collegues' do.
Shredding doesn't mean ego by itself. Yeah of course some guitarists just want to go hyper fast and in the end it's a big mess, but others shred 'on purpose'. When I listen to DT, I never feel Petrucci just wants to show off, most of the times it does fit the music. But indeed Plini's music is clearly very good like this with few shred parts, it's his style and it works well!
Gotta be said Plini grabs every single good bit about Prog Metal, his stuff is heavy, melodic, technical, catchy, chill, cleverly written and to top it all of, he uses some pretty neat sounding synths, fucking quality
The prgression which starts at 5:05 is simply amazing. As a classic pianist myself I have to say that Plini has the impressiv ability that Chopin had in his Ballades: take a phase (riff) and constantly evolve that phrase throughout the entire piece. Simple and fucking difficult at the same time. Priceless.
Have you ever played any Chopin's late works? Polyphony and harmonic (as well as technical) complexity is omnipresent Just take a look at Third Sonata or Ballade 4... Liszt, Alkan, Rach... all of them have more demanding pieces, but it does not mean that Chopin's work (as I said, specially late works) are easy or harmonically simple
@@mmhmm9021 Jazz absolutely isn't as complicated as classical lmao. It took jazz until about 1970 to move to post-tonal music, something classical music did more than half a century before it in the 1910's. Classical also implemented polyrhythms, quartal harmonies and experimental instrumentations before jazz even existed. Besides that classical music features polyphony while jazz remains homophonic. This isn't even talking about formal complexities classical has that no other genre even bothers with. On god I'm not even mad about you being wrong, it's the smugness with which you were wrong that got me
The most incredible thing about this song, is that actually has those melodies that act just as symbols along all the Trilogy. Listen carefully! 2:57-4:27. Complete respect to you, Plini!
I played this to my three months old baby boy and he almost instantly fell asleep. It's absolutely marvellous to share the joy of music and playing with your little one!
Lil Skies' newest youtube upload "Name in The Sand" opens up with the same guitar riff as this song. As soon as I heard the opening I just wanted to hear the original. So beautiful! Love you Plini
3:30-3:55 This part just makes me imaging myself soaring through the sunset past mountains during a thunder/lightning storm like an Phoenix (besides the whole song )🗻
Remember to also listen from every POV from the drummer, from the lead guitarist, from the rhythm guitarist, to the bass player to the engineer, to the special effects, all of it, the flute, the balance but intensity. Progressive metal is going to become the New Orchestra!
So youtube took a look at the music related videos I have watched recently and decided that this -- which is very much unlike any of the ones I have been watching -- would be something I would like. That's pretty weird, but youtube was right: This is awesome!
10 years ago Idk!!! This song still sounds way too ahead of time, even in the current time for me Always plays it, always refreshes and renews me Godly Plini
found my playlist from when i was a little kid(im 15) and saw this in there four times i have so many memories tied to this song bc i used to play it all the time kinda missed my old music taste
I think this is still the only song Plini’s ever done that has a blues/r&b style (at the start). Then it turns into epic prog/neoclassical/power metal. And full of awesome guitar from start to finish. 🎸 Still my favorite song of his.
Whenever I'm seeking inner peace, I simply go back to listen to this masterpiece, what it does to me, is just so much more than words can describe, you're a blessing Plini. Thank you !!!
First time ever I can say that youtube's function 'recommended for you' works. Music of this gentleman appeared in my recommended videos. Also, I think I broke replay button :D
Mizurnix I agree, as far as song writing plini is superior. it is much more dimensional and dynamic, plus the soloing has a lot more musical complexity.
Been trying to find this from a lil skies sample years ago and I accidentally click on this song and I have finally found my holy grail. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to cry
This song reminded me of how much my father loves selflessly and how i can never love so deeply....i was literally holding back my tears listening to this.....thank you plini!
Watched him play this live from just a few feet away in a small venue. Got to meet him after the show too. Honestly one of the best days of my life lol
Did this song on acid make you cry or did you crying to this song make you go on acid? Or... Were you crying on acid then had to go listen to the song?
This song hits the soul.. HARD.. I love it! I can feel the passion among other feelings I get from this song.. first time I heard his song it almost put a tear in my eyes because I can genuinely FEEL the music in my bones and in my heart & soul. I love it.. thank you Plini ❤️
the most badass thing you could do is have your own guitar from an amazing brand and then do an ad for that brand using your signature guitar then having that ad on your own music.
This is my all time favorite song, it tells a story without any words and is just beautiful in every single way also the intro always gives me goosebumps
FANTASTIC... Amazing, complex, melodic like hell and great & wonderful sounding guitar compositons... MASTERCLASS! Never heard of you before, but certainly you have inspired me to learn more about you and your incredible playing and composition endeavours. WOW!
To the girl I met on a weekend rock show in Kolkata. She suggested Plini. And then the band on stage started playing this very song, Hey S*****, If you ever find this. Thanks for suggesting this. Otherwise I'd have forgotten the name when the Universe in a crayon guy mentioned it. The song I was suggesting you is - Your hand in mine by Explosions in the sky. Do check that out as well. It was nice meeting you. I was in a hurry and didn't get to say goodbye.
I hear Satriani, James Hetfield progressions, Vai, and definitely Petrucci. With all the great guitarists of the last 30 years how could you not be influenced?
Yes, this guy/band was the biggest surprise for me on the A38 concert. I'm totally hooked since then. Arguably the best act as well, as the mixing on AAL sucked big time :(
This song is mind blowing. It sounds really 80's because of the chord progressions in it and the melody and so much of the other aspects of this song! Incredible.
Gotta thank Veritas for playing this on one of his streams and introducing me to it. It's strangely hypnotic and is one of my favorite songs to just chill to constantly on loop.
Hahaha Plini I love how you make riffs that you can add melodies from your other songs into another song and still have it sound 98% different after that one riff.... Brilliant!
Definitely! This is the evolution of many generations! It makes me feel so many feelings in each of your songs! I consider your music to be close to perfection so as not to say that it is perfect
The Guthrie influence is strong with you, sir…and I can't get enough! Been holding out on listening to your stuff for whatever reason, I knew it was gonna be good due to all the great reviews i've been hearing, but MAN! This is the kind of stuff that's in my head constantly. Great job.
Guy: I’ve always wanted to check out Plini but I’ve been told his style is a bit perplexing. Do you think I’ll get it? Other guy: What? Plini’s not perplexing. It’s like laid-back, mellow shredding Guy: ...
