As an ex ploughman/demonstrator going from the 70's to the 00's i have to comment on your ploughing. Your presentation and the quality of your work is top notch my friend. There are so many "ploughmen" on you tube that i wouldn't let near a plough. kv 6080 and your good self are the best i have seen to date. well done mate.
Well done, a man who knows exactly what he's doing, no wittering on, no faffing around, bang on lines, and sets the field out to suit sowing and spray work, plus, ploughing so as to keep the field from flooding in heavy prolonged rain by allowing the furrows to provide natural drainage.....Pro' ploughing is not easy, and takes years of practice. We were Malt Barley growers so there was a lot of ploughing every winter!
Nice work. Good tips, Used to plough but trucking now. Anyway.. never heard some of the terms you use for the work. From the Welsh border of Shropshire and we use , furrow, reen, last pass .. its mad how in such a small country there are so many dialects/ words for a similar job
Nice job Paul, looks great and no Sat nav, I was born on a farm and worked on it for 8 years, my dad used to do a lot of ploughing and its good to see you doing a the same, Steve.
Hi Paul, Love the videos, thanks! Should the turnbuckles on the headstock be equal lengths? I am a novice to ploughing. I am using a 5 furrow Kuhn and am struggling to get the top link to run straight, but only in one direction. Also any tutorial videos on how you set up mouldboards and new metal when changing worn ones would be great!
Hi Mark , the turnbuckle should be the same length yes . Even with a new plough you'll find you don't always have everything set the same in boath directions to get your ploughing to match up .When it comes to new steel you want to put full sets on ,but to get the most out of it you have to swap it about a bit. The front slipe and the one following your tractor wheels always wear out quicker than the rest , so I swap front steel to back and so on to wear all the steel out. Also you sometimes have to run the skimmer that follows your wheels slightly lower than the rest due to compaction . If your top link is not running in line it's normaly your front furrow width that's wrong or the plough or plough leg is bent in some way . Is it a new plough your using? Hope this helps a little. Thanks for watching and commenting Paul.
Ham Selv No trick, just lots of practice, you just keep trimming a little bit off with your front wheel.Drive tight to your furrow wall in some places and slightly off in others.Your always adjusting it you never just sit there . Thanks for watching.
