I feel nostalgic for the sense of community and shared purpose which you all engineered this day; friends working together is how it should be...and how it USED to be! Well done.
What a great day of plowing and disking. Blue skies, green grass, guys on their machines having fun, the sound of engines that are decades old purring like kittens...and a awesome video. Does it get any better?
What a bunch of fun we had! And actually managed to accomplish something while goofing off, lol! It sure was a joy getting to be a part of this! Thanks again for letting me tag along, and I’ll try to be there for the next one too!!!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. In the 70's as a kid on the farm there was nothing more I liked more than when we got working parties from the 3 family farms together and just got the work done. Sometimes the good ole days were just that, good!
Looked like a lot of fun, good friends getting together having a great day of plowing and enjoying themselves. Best part was the bringing of food to the field. Don't see much of that anymore.
Always enjoy seeing sod turned upside down so effortlessly and you guys made it look so easy. Nice straight furrows too. I know for sure sophisticated people do not have that much fun. And of all people, the host ran out of gas. :-) After a few more decades pass, you guys will be having coffee at the local hangout and reminiscing about this plow day when Squatch ran out of gas.
One thing about the plows is that turning the ground over, keeps the moisture longer in the soil coming into summer. This no plowing has got whiskers on it because if you don't, the mouses build their nests and breed in unbroken soil, so, with the rain that we've had, plows are now a premium item. Lovely to watch.
Great to see buddies helping each other out. In these messed up times its good to know you can still rely on and trust friends and family! Looks like everyone had a good time !
I wish I was a younger man, and could work and learn with you guys. I always wanted to be a farmer. And watching you and your father work together is just amazing.
@@squatch253 I agree, right now I am teaching myself blacksmithing and Pottery, But Farming is life long commitment. I hold all farmers in high respect.
@@EXARCWithGrandpop nonsense. I'm retiring from fire in a year and 9 months and ranch on the side for now....when I do, then I'll ranch full time. Like is way too short not to try things....
Well, that was quite the equipment show. You could have plowed all that ground by yourself but it would have made the video about 3 weeks long. I must say that you have beautiful topsoil on your land. You cuss the rocks but most farmers would call that dream soil. Kudos to all the good friends and all the determined old iron that came to help out. You are rich indeed. I enjoyed this video. 😎👀👍🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜
The 3-bottom hydraulic lift plow you had behind the Super-M did the prettiest job of turning that dirt over. So incredibly smooth and even, which is what I would expect when turning over sod. Really wonderful seeing all that equipment in the same field at the same time.
Fantastic work by a great bunch of good friends all pulling together to have some fun and get a big job done , you really don't realise how big that field is until you put the drone up well done to all
such a good vibe to this episode..guys just doing what they love to do..machines purring a long w/out a hitch..and the music and editing was just superb...and Mrs. Bork and her culinary skills was a great reward to you guys...
Loved seeing the older ones still getting it done! Both bottom plowing improvements and tractors! The cat 4 did not even look like it was (working) ! Great to see and here!
Just simply amazing to see equipment that's upward a 100 years old still cutting away like it was nothing. I love it all. Makes you feel like America is running smooth as always. You guys got it all! Best toys, for the big boys.
@@squatch253 Oh trust me, I will be there... I will use sick time if I have to! Ha ha! On a side note, I will be attending Rollag's STEAM SCHOOL next June! That should be a BLAST!
That proves you don't need AI telling you and the equipment how to do everything! My Dad grew up on a farm using two Belgian draft horses to work the field. So much for AI! 😀
Hi, that's HI! Horse Intelligence. My late Dad used to tell a tale about the local milkman who having delivered in the morning had a few drinks for lunch. He put his arms around the two horses pulling the cart and they walked him home and waited patiently for him to sleep it off in the stable.
What a great idea to turn something that might be alot of annoying and hard work into a big party. 😃 And while having spent lot of my youth on tractors I've never seen anyone laying furrows as smooth and even as you do. My compliments! 👍
Super episode, Squatch. I could smell that freshly plowed field like I was back on my uncle's John Deer multi-fuel (big hint: Never forget to switch from gas to kerosene and then run it dry at the far end of the south 40!).
Sitting here watching Senior plow that open field, along with all the others, and I could smell the earthy soil release it's fragrance. Wish I was there to help.
Thanks for posting, the soil looks really good, and easily workable ( apart from the rocks) I used to love ploughing (Plowing on your side of the pond) here in the U.K. the freshly turned soil in the fall always smells nice.
Always nice to see a plow day! I was just wondering yesterday how big of a plow my D4 would pull, and I guess I got my answer today. That D4 sounds really good by the way.
Fantastic Squatch. Your very own Tractor show. Great friends and cool equipment. It doesn’t get any better than that. Especially with the food on hand as well. Hats off to the lady who made it.
It is really good to see your restored equipment at work. I have friends who collect JD but they don't do any work with them. Good on you. Thanks, David
What an excellent day ya'll had! This is how I remember it being growing up "on the farm". Wasn't our farm, LOL. But, they (my parents and the neighbor farmers. The Porter's) couldn't keep me away when I was a kid (and I mean "kid", I started butting in when I was about 6). They eventually realized they were wasting their time trying, LOL. And, just let me work. And work I did! From tending the hogs (you don't know how hard dealing with animals can be until you deal with hogs!) to spreading manure before I was 10! I can remember backing up trailers for adults when I was a kid from the skills I had gleaned from working on the farm. You want to see a proud kid? Watch a 12 year old back a 40 year olds boat trailer down the boat ramp because the 40 year old was struggling. I got to be that kid many times. New guys would show up at the boat ramp, and struggle to back their boat to the water. I would wander over and offer to do it. They would laugh at me every time. Then one of the regulars, or a game warden would fill them in. And they would let me behind the wheel. Those days on the farm taught me a lot of lessons I still use today 45 years later and 2600miles away. I sure miss those times. I don't get to see days like that any more. I never got to do much dirt work. They kind of did draw a line on what size equipment they would let me operate. The Farmall dragging the manure spreader was about my biggest responsibility. And I always got to move the hay wagons around. But when the heavy iron came out, it was all business, no time for the kiddo. But at the end of the day, it was just like you showed: A bunch of good people, gathered around after a good days work. Thanks for sharing Squatch! Took me down memory lane for a little bit.
I really do love that MDTA, I'd love an MD too. After watching Pete's (Just a Few Acres) rebuilding his, my fire rekindled. However, I've got a new spark for a WD-6 I saw earlier this summer too. Hard to not be attracted to them standard tread machines. Now next year maybe you need a Fordson Major to come to visit and plow too?
Great video of plow day, especially enjoyed the drone footage! Just how rare is that SMTAD tractor? Everyone seems to like that tractor very much. Thanks for sharing this fun day with us! 🇺🇸🚜👍
Always a good time when there's a plow day!.....I missed your response to my comment on your other video, had we not been still trying to get these beets out of the ground I would have come over, if it happens again and it fits my schedule I'll be there!
Fantastic workin day with the old iron showin what it can do 💪💪 eyebrow started twitchin a bit when junior let his mount run outa fuel 🙄😳😝 I've just got a field from a local farmer an about start organisin a workin day for the week between Christmas and New year 👌 great drone footage 👍
Damn that looks like fun. Just sold my Ol JD disker I hadn’t used in 30yrs and a guy in Fairbanks need one for the newly cleared 15 acres of his 350 acres. Sold the Ol girl for two but his next option was 14k so he was happy 😃
I'm torn between the idyllic green rolling landscape and all those classic old machines turning the sod over with such precision and ease. Very satisfying either way!
Love when Farmings done with old iron wish I would have the 730 JD diesel grew up with John deere geen still love the sound of the old 2 cylinders you needs some John deere green next year
No wonder most of those machine companies are out of business. Nobody ever bought a second unit from them. They are still running the originals. Nice footage, BTW.
Always enjoyed breaking sod. Was always annoyed with multiple tractors because the headlands looked tough with everyone picking up the plows on different spots. Learned behavior because my Dad wanted it to look nice where visible from the Township road. Our Ms used 3 tanks full of gasoline for 20 acres plowed which was a long day. Thanks Squatch.
Such nice hay to be plowing under. We have had such bad drought for the last 5 years we barely have anything in the fields. 80 acres and we get maybe 15 five foot bales...
I could watch old iron turn the soil for hours, rather be there playing with the toys yet just too far away and I don’t have the time at present. Looks great having everyone out enjoying their machines
This is 100% awesomeness!! Great work getting the whole field done. Lots of great looking tractors there, and looks like a great group of people too👌🏻👍🍻
