Alan plows a field we are renting that hasn't been worked in years. He gets the plow greased and ready to go. Alan gets some footage of how the plow works. Jennifer shows the view from the cow pasture.
I am not sure about the greatest but they are very good. We have the exact same tractor and plow combination. Sometimes we use the 1206 on the plow and it also pulls it very good.
Love the 1066 we had one we had a case ih 720 5-18" and it handeled it just fine! Love to see those old tractors still working! Brings back a lot of memories on the farm! Thanks for the great video! Take care
Enjoyed watching the plow do its thing and does a nice job. So funny the wife tries to get the cows in for milking but they have other ideas LOL. Thanks for the video.
Enjoy watching that 1066 turn over the soil. I enjoy plowing growing up we would plow up 500 acres for corn and soybeans and 7 acres for tobacco and the largest plow we had was a 4.16's Massey Ferguson plow behind a 285 Massey Ferguson next we had a 3.16's MF plow behind a 275 MF. We would take turns plowing sometimes all day and all night only stop to fuel up and eat a sandwich. I miss those big fields plowing. I did get to plow up a 9 acre field for my brother a couple of years ago that he wanted to resow. All I plow now are garden spots. I have a 3.16's Massey Ferguson plow I pull behind a 5320 John Deere cab tractor 64hp. and I have a 2.14's Ford plow I pull behind a 539 IMT 39hp. Your 1066 pulling your plow good must be set up right.
Plowing on a nice big field is one of my favorite jobs, and plowing, was one of my first tractor driving jobs, I used our 830 case with a IH 4-16s semi mount plow and my grandpa would use the IH 1256, and 5-16s semi mount plow, that's one memory I'll always have is plowing with my grandpa. Thanks for watching, and God bless!
Video seem to end quickly today, but still great. Nice seeing the old farm equipment at work. 🙏🙏Trinity Dairy is not impacted be this mess. God Bless Trinity Dairy !!
Yup guys, I remember when I was farming heavy(late 80's---early 90's) I could pull my Glencoe Soil Saver 12 twisted shank( anybody who pulled one KNOWS they pull HARD) with my built up 1066 in high side 1st but had to hit TA too much and watch EGT's go up so went back to low 4th. GOOD OLE' DAYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Loved vid.
I just purchased an IH 770 plow. It is non auto reset. It is the only one that I have ever seen like it. I've always wanted one so hoping it works well.
The 1066 massive beast. The plow does a good job seems like the “massive beast” has plenty of power. Unusual to have a pull type that big. I cut my own hair been wearing a hat ever since. LOL
Yeah, we are planning on doing a machinery tour and I'll touch on that combine a little, the rows are pretty long but the camera makes them look longer than they are. Thanks for watching!
I wish our soils would have been where we could have used R-1 tires on our tractors we used mostly R--2 rice&cane tires we did eventually put R--1s on a 4020 that we used for planting..They ride so much better
Do you guys always have to walk out to get them ? We had them trained to come by yelling out "Zuke,Zuke,Zuke" and they'd all made a line to the barn to be milked. Love seeing dairy farms wish we still had ours. Thanks for everything you do
Nice tractor and plow, that 10 handles that 6 bottom plow pretty good. Not to often do you see a bear back 1066. I'm a new sub here. I'm a small hay farmer from Maryland. I do most of my farming with a Farmall 400 and a 1086. I am looking forward to seeing more of your videos.
Central US wheat, oat, rye, country its called a Wheatland tractor 3 pt.hitches were on rowcrop tractors corn, cotton, mostly crops that required mechanical cultivation.
Great video. You need get your lead cow to move first . Other cows will follow her to barn. That good is staying calm went your are herding cows to barn.
Every dairy Farmer we know says their cows come when called, or come on their own at chore time. I guess our cows are typical millennials, you can't get them to listen haha!
Do you prefer pull type vs semi mount? I always felt that pull type did the best for following the contour of the field. Great video that this retired dairy farmer can relate to.
I like the pull type better, I agree that it follows the ground better, it's also nice if you get stuck, you can lock it in the transport position, pull the pin and hoses, get the tractor out then pull the plow out from high ground, get stuck with a semi mount, you might be there half the day. Thanks for watching!
That was plowing up nice, they shined up fast.i have a set of ih 700 4x16,had them for almost 30 years. Mine has the side hill hitch and are semi mount.usually takes 2 full grease guns to do them all. With coulter there is 7 per bottom?
Yeah even the heavy soil here is pretty abrasive, so they shine up fast. this one also has 7 per bottom, one thing I have learned is that grease is cheap compared to parts. Thanks for watching!
Hi. have to ask. what model year is it on the Ford Tarus that was in the background in the beginning? I myself had a 1992 with the same color and I live in Sweden. when I bought mine there were only 8 in Sweden
Wow, I've never seen a 1066 without 3-point before. Like you said, can't pull a semi-mount with that one. Is that big wraparound 1930s-40s looking thing the swinging drawbar rides on (I don't know what to call it) aftermarket, or is it from IH?
We milk 33 cows, but in all we have around 60 animals total with all the young stock. We farm about 200 acres total, 60 of our own and the rest is rented. Thanks for watching!
The 1066 sounds good and strong, nice plow too. Can you explain the silo out in the pasture? Was it intentionally built there or did there used to be a barn next to it?
Kinda cool. If that area is permanent pasture it allows you to feed out there so they don’t have to go back to the barnyard and you don’t hafta haul feed to them
@@andylieffring3987 yeah it works pretty good, I would like to put concrete for the cows to stand on because it does get muddy if we get a lot of rain.
Since this is first day I found this video, what part of MN are you? I am retired, but did rotational grazing on my dairy farm in Stearns County MN. ( I farmed in Stearns County MN but now live retired in Arkansas) Enjoy videos like yours I can relate to.
We're doing good, no we've been getting missed by the hail, but feel bad for you guys, that's been some terrible damage! We're starting to get some rain now, so that's been nice. The county fair is this week, so we've been busy getting ready for that.
The tow bar looks different compared to my 1066. Is it preferred if running on dual wheels. Mine is a just the tow bar sticking out with a 3 point hitch. I don't have dual wheels, just wondering...
This tractor came from North Dakota and this style tow bar is more common out there, most of the ones I've seen have 3 point hitch like yours.I like the duals for more traction and flotation on wet ground, and less compaction. Thanks for watching!
That 1066 is a Wheatland model and is meant for up north in the Dakotas and Canada where they don’t use 3pt tools as much so the need for the 3pt isn’t necessary
Lol, I would say my favorite tractor that we have is the 1256 IH and a close 2nd is the 830 Case with the green cab, my dream tractor would be any model of the 2+2 IH tractors, I have always thought they were cool tractors.
@@tyfrank3427 yes I have, but the 1066 seems to handle it better, we do have a IH 550 semi mount, 5 bottom plow that I sometimes put on the 1256. I would love to have a 1206 someday, they seem like a good tractor.
@@trinitydairy Ours is the standard tread version with 24.5-32 tires. We need to replace them now but with new tires it will handle the plow good. The 1066 is a little more tractor. Yours must be the 1973 model because it has the newer style cab, and it's painted white. Earlier 1066s run slower and put out about what the 1256 does.
Antiquated set up? Not sure if I should take that as a compliment or not. What you call antiquated, I call paid for in full, no debt, and no computers installed. Yes, it's a regional thing that we call them bottoms. It's just as strange to see you write plough instead of plow.
@@bigteddy66 hey no worries. What part of the world are you watching from? It's definitely interesting to see how farming is done from across the globe.
@Leonard Carr we did that with our semi mount plow when we had to run in the furrow, I can run both duals on the green with this plow, but I had to take one off because the tube was sticking out, found a good tire now, so should have it back on soon.thanks for watching!
If you want to hitch up to a moldboard plow in my area you better bring a chainsaw.... chances are that about a 6 in sweet Gum is growing up thru it......
