Great video. Its amazing how many people make comments but dont listen to what she said. Everyone crying about it. Some dogs need it or they get infected some dogs dont need it and causes ear infections. A little uncomfortable now stops a lot of pain later. I have 3 poodles. 2 i dont pluck 1 i have to. My 60lb girl has the smallest ear canal with a lot hair.
Thank you for being so curent and constantly educating people. Thank you for not blindly do things merely because either the procedures have been done by everyone or they have been done forever and this is the way they train groomers.... Furthermore thank you for showing how plucking should be done with care and at the same time as fast as one can do it to be cognizant of the emotional welfare of the dog and emphasising cleaning the ears afterwards.
Hi there I responded to your message a few days ago but it doesn’t look like it posted. Thanks so much for watching and your kind words they are much appreciated. I love to hear that the videos are helpful. If you ever have any video suggestions we would love to hear them. Thanks again!❤️
I just got my boy, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, in December. He’s 5 months old. Just got his first cut down which removed all his dark hair on his back. He got a real bad ear infection and I took him to the vet and she put that metal clamper thing in his ear and twisted it and pulled out a gang of hairs! He didn’t even cry. I was amazed at how much hair was in there. I had to put antibiotics in his ear BID for 10 days. I want to prevent this from happening again. So thank you for the advice on just going through his ears while we’re hanging out and pulling some out. I’m watching your videos on grooming also. I can do this and with practice will perfect the wheaten-doo. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I appreciate your videos.
Hi Julie thanks so much for watching and your positive feedback. I know the first clip on a wheaten puppy is so hard….. losing all their sweet black markings. Wow that’s impressive he didn’t even cry with the ear plucking. Yes just slowly work at them over time and you will be able to keep them hair free a lot easier. I’m happy to hear we helped and you are watching our other videos.! Let us know if you have any further questions as I have had many wheatens and have bred them for 17 years. I know them well. I love them to death!!!❤️🐶❤️
I have a new puppy and this is the first time having a breed that needs ear plucking (Irish Soft Coated Wheaten) & am super anxious about doing this to him. (I never heard of this until my breeder educated me) Your empathy with the dog is more than I have seen in the videos I've been viewing, & I appreciate you and that you focused on health implications both pluses and minuses to doing this or not, & why you opt not to as much anymore. Subscribing!
Awe your kind words are very much appreciated. Thanks so much for watching. I actually breed wheatens and I know that puppy owners cringe at the idea. Just discuss with your vet and the groomer. As long as the ears are full of hair little bits at a time will help. As a groomer I don’t like doing it either. Enjoy your puppy!❤️
You do such a great job of showing what to do by explaining. I grew up having a poodle and have mini schnauzers now. My least favorite thing is plucking the ears. I know how necessary it is but I feel like I am hurting them. Better to hurt them a little than have an ear infection though so I do it. You explain so well. Thank you for the great job you do.
Hi Anita thanks so much for your positive feedback. I’m happy we could help. I totally agree it sure isn’t a fun job but with certain dogs it just has to be done to prevent problems. ❤️🐶❤️
Ear hair should be done at every grooming appointment. If you don’t, the hair builds up, you get the mats deep down in the ear canals, and nasty infections. And the more a dog has their ears done, the more comfortable they are with it, especially if you do it consistently so that you are never running into big problems. That being said, not all dogs ears need to be plucked
Hi there. I’m stressing to take little amount of hair instead of a lot at once. Sometimes if the ear gets really irritated it can the dog to scratch a lot and make things worse
Thanks for watching. If you pull too fast and you aren’t careful you can nick their actual ear especially on a small dog. It’s painful enough so going fast wouldn’t help that
That looks and sounds like torture! Vets say this can cause micro tears in their ear canals causing MORE infections. Please educate yourself and talk to your vet before subjecting your pup to this pain!
