That's a good trick swaging the end of the chrome pipe so you can solder it. I'm stealing that thank you 👍

Tidy work. Challenging job - Wastes look interesting and shower pipework into a 4" wall with soft bricks and lime mortar ! McAlpine do a really neat solvent plastic pipe to compression chrome MCALPINE ABS32/35A-CB. Much neater and smaller so no need to struggle concealing the large nut. Only discovered myself a few months ago. This is not a criticism but a discussion point only... The building regs changed 18 months ago where heating pipework not within a room should be lagged ie - in a floor void (even if not a cold area). My immediate thought was how can this be achieved - one can't notch 70mm out of a joist to accommodate lagging ! So I appreciate the method you have adopted here and would do the same myself with the heating pipework. Has there been a relaxation/reversal on this change as it is close to impossible to implement or is it just brushed under the carpet ? Is this something you are aware of. Thank you ps it is nice to see lagging between the pipe and the joist.. do not see that very often.

Hi mate where the compression nuts come out the wall for the basin etc will they be visible? Also did you fill the chases in completely for the bath shower mixer with foam? Ive filled with foam a few times which is quite easy but when its quite wide not sure the plasterers are keen, i thought they would just bond it then skim over the top no probs

Hi, thanks for the comment. So you need to check the shroud that comes with your chrome wastes but usually they are big and deep enough to cover the nut and thread. So normally fine. Sometimes it's better to put the chrome pipe in the wall first but then you risk disturbing it when cutting it down. In all honesty I haven't found a good solution. No I only foam to help secure . Best to hardwall plaster the gaps. I wouldn't usually make such a mess but the bricks were falling apart. Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻

What do you use for your shower fixing the 3/4 threaded pipe stuff?

I'd be rather reluctant to cut the notches out that deep in them joists for that island waste.

That's why we drilled through them 👍🏻

Two issues with the waste, size and length of the run, drilling the joists in compliance with building regs and termination into a hopper. Are you sure the pipe notching also complies? I always use an hydronic test pump to at least 10bar after air testing.

Nice work! And no one asked you john, your always going around commenting & moaning about other people's work, why don't you post some of your own and let other people pick it to bits.

I like to drill my holes big enough so that I can wrap the waste pipes with hair felt, not fussed with foaming, with the hair felt it can still move with expansion but it won't tick, I've seen people drilling holes in joists the exact size of the pipe and I always think that's gonna tick like f**k

@@andrewhayes4914 building regs do not permit drilling joists except through the centre line and a max .25 diameter of joist depth.
