We've got some very good politicians, but very few of this calibre. He's an overachiever, as is Jacinta Price, Alex Antic, Malcolm Roberts, Gerard Rennick, Matt Canavan, and Ralph Babet. If we could get Warren Mundine, Tony Abbott and John Anderson back, the country would be a better place.

You talk of a case in 2005. The offender came to Australia aged 2, 36 years later he was deported. So at age 38 he is deported. Why, i say again why, from age 18 to age 38, a 20 year period, why has he not obtained Australian citizenship? There are 1,000’s of people who refuse to go through the process to gaining Australian citizenship but they refuse to. They regard themselves as being from their country of origin. Then they get deported & cry wolf. No pity. No mercy. If you are a serious or recidivist offender , you risk deportation ..
I’m the opposite, I think children who immigrate shouldn’t get automatic citizenship,a child should stay the nationality of their country of origin until as adults they can apply to become citizens. That would give us the ability to deport people who have not assimilated to this culture or decide to live their life on welfare.

My husband said maybe its time for the government of NZ to resign....completely...for NZ to simply become a STATE of Australia. He also said that with aid sent to PNG the same should happen there...and we should invest more infrastructure for the people...that all of us would benefit and be better off for it in the long term....and we wouldnt have all this garbage going on🤨

If anything, Giles is guilty of complacency. There he was, enjoying a quiet life, not even bothering to wonder why there was no information forthcoming from Home Affairs. Perhaps we could add “gullible” to the list of his shortcomings too.

Maybe their country of citizenship can pay for their entire imprisonment cost and compensate the Australian Government for any related "loss of value" of this person as a result of their criminality?
The specific issue in the relationship with New Zealand is that the Australian government has put in place specific road blocks to Australian citizenship. This has resulted in ‘New Zealanders’ who have spent their entire life in Australia, and who are in effect Australians in all but name with no ties to NZ. The simple way around this problem is to treat New Zealanders the same as any other nationality. While I am generally a fan of Senator Patterson, here he is clearly playing a partisan political game, and not being wholly honest. If anyone would care to look, this is an issue that is raised by any NZ government of any flavour since the Australian government made it practically impossible for NZers to gain Australian citizenship. The deportation of ‘Australian’ NZ citizens should be greatly reduced in the near future with the new citizenship pathway that was enacted in Dec 2023.
Some NZ come to Australia gets deported because punching someone or biker relations. Yet other migrants get let go after they do robbery stabbings sex offences home invasions. Murder and drug offences. Australia just had one south sudanese refugee have his visa reinstated after doing serous offences claiming his Aboriginal. This government in Australia has my head spinning
