I too switched from Curology to Agency. One, the service is amazing and the Doctors give you more time than the Derms you visit in office or at least mine has. Curology itself was great and I saw results but when I went over to Agency and able to have the hydroquinone, my melasma started fading right away. I had zero irritation. It’s convenient, more affordable, and so effective all in one. I love it. I do wish they offered options for serums or other cleansers and moisturizers to use after these treatments or special masks, retin-a for the body. While it does seem expensive, when I added up what individually I was spending in like products these replace but these are much more effective, I realized it is really a bargain. Plus it arrives right to my door. I have recommended this to so many people. ❤️❤️❤️

Tried Retin A years ago. Back when I wasn't really serious about skincare, unfortunately. I was still tanning with no sunscreen. 🙀🙊 Fast forward to your video and others on this topic learning all I can. Getting closer to retiring and trying to figure out what's worth spending money on. Not certain if you read comments from older posts but just letting you know I signed up for Agency treatment. I had my initial phone consultation today, 6/7/22. The products are scheduled to ship tomorrow. I checked on Curolgy a year or so ago...they would not ship to Arkansas, according to site upon completion of survey. For 60 your skin is gorgeous. I noticed mine, as I am above 65 now, continued to sag and change. Had to get a small procedure to lift it a bit though. Hated my lines from mouth down, the famous jowls. Your skin seems so tight too. Oh, I wasn't very happy with my procedure, for the money. I want to believe my doctor had an issue with a blood supply, so I am left with a gland sticking out. I must try that lash serum. AND, your the first woman I've heard address eyes watering. Mine have become so sensitive to it.
I have very stubborn melasma & uneven skin tone. My dermatologist prescribed oral Tranexamic acid. I’ve been on it just over a month now…I can see my skin tone is much better. Melasma is getting lighter. So far I am very happy with it. I chose oral tranexamic acid because I am not comfortable using hydroquinone.
I’ve tried several cleansing balms but the always bother my eyes. I’m intrigued by the Hadalabo Gokujun Cleansing Oil and will order today. At $20 a pop, multiple Makeup Erasers were out of the question for me, but I did find great 12” square microfiber face cloths 10/$12. They come in a variety of colors. I use a fresh one each day and toss in the laundry. The wash up beautifully. Thanks for the review Tamara.🤗
I have collected my Make Erasers over time when on sale...Sometimes Costco has them at a huge discount! But I really need to try out less expensive alternatives to recommend for my viewers.
Tamara, just a gentle thought; I see you double cleanse with 2 micro fibre cloths. As a matter of fact you actually cleanse your face 4 times instead of 2. I think that could contribute to your dry skin as well. I use the same first step as you, take it off with a micro fibre cloth and call it a day. If I want to be super sure everything is gone I’ll throw in a cotton round with a hydrating toner.
Food for thought for sure! When in my bathroom and able to rinse at the sink, I only use a micro fiber at the very end. Also, my cleansers are super gentle and non stripping. But thank you for the food for thought and in fact I may adjust slightly in the winter when my skin is a quite a bit dryer...thank you for sharing ❤️

I am not quite there, but I have always followed strict sunscreen usage, no smoking , and only occasional alcohol use. This have served me well. Oh, I do botox my eleven as I feel that the frown line are extremely aging !! Your skin is beautiful for your routine is defiantly working!

I´m switching to Agency now from Curology. Love the subscription service. I´ve paid 1000$ for serums in the past but nothing works like the prescribed ones.

Your skin without makeup is so pretty! I use some of the same products but haven’t tried Curology or Agency. After my double cleanse, I apply Argiriline, Niacinimide, Matrixyl, 5% Retinol in Squalene all from The Ordinary. My final step is the DRMTLGY Night Cream with Peptides. I alternate nights between retinol with Rosehip oil. Once a week I use Truth Treatment 5% Retinol Gel. I have The Ordinary Buffet w/copper peptides, but in the morning, after red light therapy, alternating days between the copper peptides and 20% Vitamin C. I also use Resveritrol in the morning and a variety of daytime moisturizers and sculpting creams. Not sure the sculpting creams work…but what the heck. I keep trying!
Wonderful video and deep dive into Agency. I am also new to Agency, just about five months now, and did not have any history of using Tretinoin so they started me very low. Thankfully I was able to tolerate it well and they've increased me to .009%. I noticed that your formula has a very different texture than mine, and the only difference I see is the % of Tretinoin and mine has 1% Dexpanthenol instead of the Azelaic Acid. Maybe that gives mine more of a cream texture like the Dark Spot Formula. I'm also on my first cycle off the Hydroquinone, so I'm glad to see that it is fine to use the one without it over the entire face. For the neck, I still use my Olay Regenerist Retinol 24. I also use the same Drmtlgy serums and peptide cream that you use, they are wonderful! I'll have to dig through your videos to find your morning routine, I feel like we will have several more items in common :)

I've been on tret for years but just got back from a sunny vacation, and despite liberally applying sunscreen and wearing a hat, my hyperpigmentation is much more noticeable again. Hi Tamara! This is the second video this week I’ve watched and learned that trentinoin is not covered by insurance if prescribed for anti-aging. I didn’t know this. I started trentinoin in November. Hi Tamara. Your channel has been so helpful for me - a 70+ year old makeup newbie. I've been subscribing to Curology for about two years, but have found it drying at times. I was surprised you used a moisturizer (Sukoyaka Suhada Urea Moisturizing Toner) before your tretinoin Doesn't that reduce its effectiveness? Side note: I also use OcuSoft eyelid scrubs to remove remnants of the tight liner. I cut the pads into quarters and they are still plenty big.

It seals in moisturizer but in a super weightless way and does not reduce the effectiveness of Tret. I tolerate Tret quite well but for those who find it irritating or too drying the recommendation is often to “sandwich” tret between a moisturizer. Tret is quite powerful and even applied after a moisturizer or even mixed in with a moisturizer you will still get the benefits. ❤️

You got me hooked on the Hada Labo oil for my first step of my double cleanse year ago and I haven’t gone back to anything else! I was using Clinique balm, but for me the oil works so much better.
I love cleansers and Essences. My favorites are balms but I just ordered your Labo oil to give it a try. I also ordered your Essence ( what a name) Have you tried MayCoop? It's wonderful very moisturizing Korean Essence. You might want to give that one a try. I did enjoy this video.Fun seeing what other creators are using.

Most of my problems are Around my mouth which is where I cannot use retin a because of so much irritation. Still so loved this video and your honest kindness. I used to apply Vaseline to my chin just to protect t it from any tret accidentally getting on it. I’m sure you’ve tried very low strength and applying after moisturizer etc? There are some nice OTC Retinaldehydes and Retinols that are much less irritating and offer similar benefits.
Tamara, I used your link to sign up for Agency. When I entered my information it showed that I was a Curology patient so all I needed to do was contact my Curology provider to make the change. I was concerned that the switch would be difficult to manage but couldn’t have been easier!
There may be a misunderstanding that you must (or should) use Agency if you’re anti-aging. Not true. I have no dark spots, so I don’t see the need to switch from Curology to Agency for just 1 added ingredient that I can get on my own. The additional cost doesn’t make sense to me - at least not yet. But I may change my mind & eventually switch to Agency . . .
I din't mean to give that impression. I was VERY happy with Curology as a way to obtain my Tret. If I didn't have the pigmentation issues not sure if I would have found the need to switch. But I am LOVING my 8 actives in two customized treatment creams 😘

Happy Sunday Mave! I am a dedicated long time believer and user of Tretinoin (chemical/generic name for RetinA). There is such a long history of well documented scientific studies (including studies at the cellular level) that it does stimulate collagen and elastin and treat many signs of aging. It's a little hard to measure individually on each person because we are all unique and at different stages of aging. As far as why every one doesn't use it...it is a prescription and can in fact be very expensive since insurance doesn't cover it for anti aging. Also, not everyone can tolerate it. Some people just don't have the patience or the ability to gradually build up tolerance. Luckily there are many milder, more affordable over the counter alternatives that work in a similar way, but not quite as potent. If you are able to tolerate your tret and find it affordable...keep at it! You won't be sorry ❤️

I really wish that Agency would come out with a formula that doesn’t have niacinamide in it. My skin is super sensitive to it and no matter how much we changed up the formula, it was too irritating for me. My dermatologist agreed to let me try tret at .025 and I’ve had no irritation so it is definitely something in the Agency formula that doesn’t agree with me.

I love Urea for use over a certain age ! I'm 40 and use Differin , Ceramide moisturiser , cleansing balm and gentle gelle cleanser . I use a blend serum with Azelaic Acid 3% , encapsulated vitc 5% , panthenol and Urea . I'm loving Altruist Face Fluid spf50+ with organic filters Tinosorb S and a newer Tiosorb filter enriched with Niacinimide and Vit E .

Hi Tamara - I love your videos! Just a quick note - my dermatologist told me that hydroquinone shouldn’t be applied over moisturizer, serums etc because it won’t penetrate. I’d be interested to know if you’ve discussed this with your dermatologist or if Agency has any feedback on this. Thx!
Thank you Drina! Interesting....Agency was very specific that the Dark Spot Formula should be applied after moisturizer. But what you are saying makes sense as well. I am going to double check with my provider on this question and will post an update. Thanks for such a great question!
Did you say hydrocortisone 2.5% In the night serum. I was always told that never use Hydrocortisone stronger than 0.5% on the face and then very sparingly? I’m now very confused!
Yes, my initial Dark Spot Formula with the Hydroquinone did contain 2.5% Hydrocortisone cream. Agency typically only includes the hydrocortisone in the first treatment formula to help with acclimating to the hydroquinone and reduce potential irritation. Also, the Hydroquinone Dark Spot Formula is used as a spot treatment and not applied all over the face so I'm not applying the hydrocortisone all over the face. Having said that it is very customizable and they can include a lower dose or non at all. My new Hydroquinone Dark Spot Formula will be arriving soon and will not contain Hydrocortisone since I acclimated well to the hydroquinone. Hope this helps!
It's so frustrating when Amazon and Walmart sell out! The only other place I can find it is from Japanese Taste. Thank you Colleen! And Good question! There are two schools of though when it comes to order of application. One is, thin to thick, in which case serum goes first. And the other is more important active first, in which case the tret goes first. Ultimately, not sure how much it matters as long as the tret and peptides are separated enough to allow absorbtion....but I am going to double check with my provider and will keep you posted. I will mention it in my AM skin care routine coming up in the next couple of weeks.

Good point. Taking care of our neck is SO important…I usually cleanse and apply all serums and SPF to my neck but somehow juggling everything during filming/editing omitted my neck on a couple of steps. I do think I stated how important it is to take all your skin care down to your neck and even your décolleté.
It depends on your needs and concerns. If your main interest is Tretinoin, the Agency Future formula is $10 more for an additional active. For me, Curology did not address my dark age/sun spots, so I am really enjoying have two treatment creams to address all my concerns. So yes, the price did go up quite a bit, but I am getting more than double the amount of actives, inlcuding two prescription medications to address more concerns. I still love Curology and highly recommend it for those that don't have as many skin issues as I do. Hope this helps!
I have minimal peelies with my current formulas. Part of that is my skin is so well acclimated to Tret. I think using the gentle physical exfoliation from the micro fiber cloth and silicone nubby helps. Even so, I keep peelies at bay with a once a week AHA mask such as Drunk Elephant Sukari Baby Facial TLC Mask or The Ordinary AHA Peeling Mask (the red one). The Ordinary one is pretty strong so I can't use it much in the winter...the DE is my favorite even though its a bit pricey. (I skip Tret on those nights). I used to use a daily AHA toner, but over time found even the mild ones to be a little too harsh on my skin. I do sometimes use Maysama ABP11+ Gentle Resurfacing Toner a couple of times a week if the weekly mask isn't enough. It's all about listening to your skin and if the peeling is getting out of hand may skip tret a couple of nights as well. Hope this helps! ❤️
Thanks Tamara! I have tried for a long time to get past the peeling stage with both low dose tretinoin and Curology. Even using just a pea-size once a week causes excoriation/peeling of my face. I’ve just recently accepted that I’m one of those folks that can’t tolerate Tretinoin but do use all the other products I can to help slow effects of the aging on my skin.
Sounds like you gave it a good go! We are all so unique...Are you able to tolerate any Vitamin A derivatives at all? Avene is having a great sale ending today...Penn Smith loves their retinaldehyde formulas. Also, I know Angie uses the Mae Love Retinaldehyde on her sensitive neck.
Good question! I know the formulas are very customizable and imagine you could get it with out the HC…but will double check with my Derm provider to see if they offer the hydroquinone without the HC.
My Dermatology Provider got back to me on this question and absolutley they can customize a hydroquinone formula without hydrocortisone. She said they usually only include hydrocortisone at the start of treatment to help the adjustment to the hydroquinone but it is can be customized without as well. In fact she said my next hydroquinone formula will not contain hydrocortisone since I am tolerating the hydroquinone so well. Hope this helps!
