The old guards of PAP is genuine. They emerged from nothing. However, the new generation of PAP has their career path charted out for them, lost touch, many only know lip servicing

Clear mandate to wake up & do better if not more drops in % are coming.

Since young, everytime i get 60 upon 100 marks my parents would frown in hopelessness.

West Coast GRC should have a re-election.

Next we need Mr Tharman as our next PM, and HSK can focus on his East Coast plan.

I await the day PAP becomes the opposition party. Then you will see them fight tooth and nail like back in the days of LKY. That would be something great to behold.

PAP's real battle is when Mr. Lee steps down. Until then Opposition needs to band together first, having 9 seperate parties with differing policies contesting in a G.E will not help garner support.

The PAP has successfully formed the government with super majority. WP has gained seats. Other alternative parties had a good run and respectable results. Voters have made themselves heard. This is a win for all Singaporeans, a win for Singapore.

HSK - "I look forward to the Workers Party play a constructive role and put national interest before party interest". The same statement applies, especially, to the PAP as well.

Say whatever you want, at the end of the day, a progress has been made which is another loss of a GRC (Sengkang). Get used to more losses down the road.

I hope in the next 5 years and beyond, it's not just about imposing more laws, taxes and fines everywhere, but instilling more love, care and concern everywhere.

Now can safely increase all type of Taxes eg GST, ERP, water .... etc. Singaporean love it.

IMO, for GE2020, WP has done well and PAP has done well too with (i) a strong 2/3 majority mandate in Parliament and, (ii) with PM Lee having the political foresight to offer Mr Pritam Singh the official designation as Leader of the Opposition. It's a well-thought out political decision for the long-term interest of Singapore .... and, it is heartening indeed that Mr Pritam Singh reciprocated with his assurance that WP will be a responsible, credible Opposition and will remain loyal to S'pore and all S'poreans. I am sure that both PAP & WP will work together to face and overcome many new geopolitical challenges to safeguard the national interest and national security of Singapore.

I sincerely hope Me Lee would realise where had gone wrong, looking at the drop in percentage of vote & correct it. The ppl you used that think too highly of themselves and the way they speak and most importantly the ppl closes to you. To refrain them not to involve in the government matters and do not openly give unnecessary and unwelcome comments that would affect the image of our country Singapore.

There are good PAP candidate like Ms Tin Pei Ling whom has won the trust of the residents she has served. It is up to individuals MP on how willing you are to lower down your status and elitism, stay in touch with your residents you are supposed to serve. You call narrow 50-60% wins in most constituencies as a clear mandate? 30-40% of the votes that went to the opposition in most constituencies aren't small at all. This is nothing to be proud of and certainly not a clear mandate in your own words. Clear mandate is when you get 80-90% of the votes in each constituencies which will only happen in your dream.

I really hope PAP seriously review this election and this 8% drop, and cut down your arrogance while increasing transparency and accountability. What you need is to keep an open ear, n not think that your policies are always the best. Cut out the bullying in parliament n work together to bring SG out of this storm.

PM Lee 3G needs to look at 4G and check their attitudes. Expectations need to be high but younger generation are moved by passion PASSION is clearly the strong point of the WP PAP has become very staid and steady. It really shows that Singaporeans have matured as a voting population.

It is incredibly pleasurable to see these disappointed faces. The youth are going to take over Singapore in two more general elections.

Hope people who voted PAP will wake up after they raise the gst to 9%. We Singaporean has the right to oppose the policies suggested by the government! You don’t really have a clear mandate. You probably need a super majority (75% of popular vote) to say that, and you haven’t got that since 2001. Only reason why PAP still has the “mandate” is because of the rigged electoral system. I have always been a moderate who voted for the best candidates at Ang Mo Kio, and there are many like me. It seems that people of Sengkang, Aljunied and Hougang have decided that the opposition were the better candidates. And who knows? Being right next to all them oppositions might rub off on us during the next election. And you never know; workers party might just wanna come in next time. So please, please do a better job managing the county and keeping to your campaign promises over the next 5 years, our dear prime minister?

There is a clear mandate but it is not an overwhelmingly strong or strong mandate. There is a huge difference between both. Judging by the percentage votes in all GRCs and SMCs, there appears to be a swing of 6% to 10% (my estimation) towards the opposition. This should send a clear signal to the PAP about the sentiments on the ground. As PM rightly pointed out, there is a clear desire for a diversity of voices in parliament. Why is this so? This is the question that they have to examine more thoroughly and respond to starting now.

losing the ministers who were prominent ministers in NTUC, Transportation, etc clearly shows that people have issues with their job performance; so instead of phrasing as a loss perhaps you should re-evaluate if or how they have contributed in the past? in fact, you might want review the entire cabinet to see if every MP is earning his/her keep? This is probably more helpful instead of fighting back just to gain seats?

If PAP must get super majority to serve the people, then Sporeans should vote for the opposition because they can serve the people with minority. Who is more capable my friends?

The only person i respected in PAP was Late minister Mr. LKY...who even though was a person in a grey zone but did his part and real effort to make sure Singapore had something to be proud of...the current PAP cabinet minister mostly are all SAF paper general and NTUC parachuters with no specialization or knowledge in areas needed, so what can they really help singapore with except listen to instruction from their boss and following the URA plan given to them by speaking the scripts provided..

WP talks of GST cuts n retrenchment benefits, but western countries practicing that r charging up to 55 % in taxes n part of such payments goes to the unemployed. There’s been plenty of abuses in this system. The opposition has to tell Singaporeans to pay half of our salaries n create a clear Plan on how to prevent abuses. All over Canada n Europe r witnessing abuses already, n unemployment benefits r not always workable therefore. Is the opposition internationally exposed? If there’s a foolproof plan against unemployment? countries practicing that would have found a solution decades ago. Let’s not repeat somebody’s mistakes. Pls understand that unemployment today is a result of competition from China, not our government.

Dear holliebeanie97, let’s take a look at your complains, firstly, I can assure you that our cost of living is one of the lowest in the world for a first world country. our hawkers foods, maids r dirt cheap, I had a maid for only two hours once a week in Finland n I paid her the same amount as I would have to pay a full time live in maid in singapore. Medical care in private clinics is 50% cheaper in singapore than Europe. You can’t see a gynecologist in many Scandinavian countries if you r pregnant, in singapore, you get the luxury of visiting your personal gynecologist in a private clinic monthly , fourthly, our HDB BTO flats r 50% cheaper than what a refuge would have to pay in Europe n they cannot ever own the flat, let alone sell it. In singapore, with clever financial planning, you could still sell it, buy a flexi flat or leave the remaining lease for your children as a rental income. In most countries, CPF does not exist, therefore, upon death, you cannot inherit any accumulation of pension or social savings from one’s deceased spouse. In singapore you can inherit your spouse’s CPF. last but not least, most countries r having severe racism, not like Singapore, where racial harmony exist. If you have a problem there’s always a solution.

Fantastic stellar win for Workers Party. PAP should learn from GE 2020 the people want fair representative voices in parliament. The 12 NCMP seats must be allocated to the losers with highest votes cos such voters want their voices heard too. WP must press PAP to recognise NCMP seats are created to be distinct from opposition seats. Only when more people's voices are represented it can collectively align policies in the best interest of the people. PAP can no longer apply authoritarian rule after GE2020.

Dear KEN LIM, we lost lots of jobs to China, our headquarters n solutions offices went there. There r lots of alternative jobs available but Singaporeans r choosy. There r Europeans cleaning the streets, waitressing, working as chamber maids n in preschools as well. But many of these jobs r slow to be filled by Singaporeans. Don’t blame others or the government, change starts with ourselves first. MNCs who comes here wants to bring their own executive top talents first, we have to understand that. Singaporeans wants top global positions but do you have top global experience from various continents n industries? Work on our own shortcomings first, we r only 3.3 million people.

The people have made it clear: No to Fumbling Heng Swee Keat. Fumbling Heng and self-goal Chan will be a catatrophe for Singapore. Yes to Tharman as PM. Tharman is still relatively young. He can be PM for two terms. He has international standing and has gotten a thumping victory in the GE.

Don't fall back to putting the ball into the Opposition's court.. they haven't been the ones with a stellar history of playing party politics.
