Have you found that stress impacts your hormones and mood? What do you do to manage your stress levels?

@@theprsp.6033 there is no research on long term use of 5htp. I will do some further reading on the topic and endeavour to do a video on it in the future.

Hi Janelle, you are so clear on your videos you have helped me link together my symptoms but I am at a loss what to do. Bit of backgroud: long (years) period of chronic stress, physical health ok. Removed myself from chronic stress, physcially I was ok, emotionally a bit of a mess. Emotinonally improved, much happier, stress still around at times but not so bad anymore. I am happy, I am not depressed. Almost 9 months ago I hit a wall, could hardly motivate myself and I am normally a very active person but have struggled with fatigue on and off throughout my life but managed with it. I became very very fatigued, feeling of not being able to cope, irrationality, jitteriness, weight loss (I am quite skinny but seem to burn up energy at certain times of the month), recurrent infections, HPV and 2 cancer scares. It was a big kick up my backside, changed my diet, learnt I am MTHFR variant, started methylated B vitamins (huge massive improvement in brain fog), electroyltes, anti oxidants, liver cleanse. Feeling loads better except at two different times of the months. I hit a wall and my emotions go wild for 2-3 days around ovulation. So tired but jittery and can't sleep. Heart palpatations, blood sugar crashes, no energy etc. I feel crazy. Then that eases, and I get a good week of energy, then one week before my period I start again with similar symptoms. Insomnia gets much worse during these times with 4 am wake ups and not being able to get back to sleep. I can't focus well, I feel numb during these days. It feels purely chemical iykwim. I know I have stress related adrenal insufficiency and I suspect I am leading into thyroid disease as it runs in my female side of the family, but its always 100% worse at these two times of the month. I am 41 now, and fit. On my good days I can take on the world, on my bad days I don't want to see anyone, speak to anyone or do anything. I manage because I have too. I had terrible gut issues, which I have solved with good probiotics and changing my diet to mainly plant based. I dont eat hardly any processed sugar. I don't drink alcohol anymore. I meditate, I exercise (when I feel ok), I laugh, I am not depressed but I cannot stand these swings any longer. I have ordered some 5 HTP and bio identical progesterone cream, is there anything else I can add in? Chromium? Alpha Lipoic acid (as I am very aware of blood sugar crashes)? Would S-ame help me? Or DHEA? I am studying to be a natural nutritional therapist so I understand what I have to do in terms of diet but it doesn't seem to be enough. I don't know where to start! Thanks in advance.

I think progesterone cream is a great idea. Chromium probably would be good too. I think supporting adrenal glands would be great too. I have a video on adrenal support supplements. Also consider registering your interest in my ecourse due out next month. www.drjanellesinclair.com/ecourse

Thank you for your videos!! Its like you've been reading my journal!! I suffer with chronic fatigue, endometriosis with terrible PMS. Your adrenal fatigue video pretty much fit my symptoms exactly! I recently ordered some DIM and an adrenal supplement (Life Extension Adrenal Energy Formula). Is this a good place to start? Sounds like i should have started with progesterone cream. I'm also on Low Dose Naltrexone which ive found helpful, along with vitamin c, lots of magnesium and a b complex. Please reply!! 😊

I am really loving all of your videos! Thank you I have PMDD. I’ve only been tested on day 17 of my menstrual cycle and my progesterone was slightly low. Not sure how to proceed.
@DrJanelleSinclair
@DrJanelleSinclair 5 лет назад
If you have the symptoms of PMDD and your progesterone levels are low at day 17 I'd assume they are low during the second half of your menstrual cycle. I suggest that you consider Agnus castus or progesterone cream, and other recommendations in my video on PMDD causes and treatment.

I know this is an old video but I would really appreciate it if you could cover how progesterone affects seizures and why?
@DrJanelleSinclair
@DrJanelleSinclair Год назад
I don't have expertise around this, but I would hypothesise that a progesterone deficiency would lead to a GABA deficiency, which I believe could lead to seizures. Many epilepsy meds increase GABA in the brain I believe.

So do we need pregnenolone if progesterone is low and low cortisol
@DrJanelleSinclair
@DrJanelleSinclair 4 года назад
You could take pregnenolone but it's a lot more common to take progesterone. The progesterone will help to bring up cortisol if it is low.

Hi Dr Janelle! I had a "gut" feeling that my PMDD is triggered by my adrenal fatigue, I suffer with severe adrenal fatigue and can't do the adaptogens and vitamins as they do more harm than good. What can I do? Im afraid Im never going to recover from adrenal fatigue.Thank you for your videos!
