I have had a lot of questions about getting the PMDG moving and releasing/applying the brakes and aprking brakes. In this video I'll take you through how they should work!

I am a real world Airline pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the detailed simulations of airliners in MSFS and X Plane. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

Thanks for bringing this up. Got used to the Fenix parking brake and now I know it’s different from the 777. To engage parking brake, press and hold the key bind of your brake and while holding press the parking brake button. To release parking brake simply press and hold the brake button 👍

In the introduction manual under FAQ/Beta Testers' Tips section: If you have your parking brakes linked to a hardware control make sure it is linked to left and right toe brake. To release hold the toe brakes for three seconds. I tried this and it works.

It's sort of the same with the Fenix, you can turn the parking brake lever with the mouse but the aircraft won't move if you add power. In order to fully release the parking brake you have to tap the brakes after turning the lever. Obviously in the real aircraft you have to hold the toe brakes to both engage and release the parking brake, it's the same from a Cessna 172 to a Boeing 747.

@anthonygreene9665
@anthonygreene9665 2 месяца назад
No, to release the parking brake just push your regular brakes all the way down and hold them. Then it’ll release on its own. You only need to SET the parking brake, turning them off only requires the normal brakes.

How people have an issie with this is beyond me lol. I press the brakes and pull the parking lever. Press the brakes all the way to release. Then again i have pedals and i use the tiny flap switch to simulate pulling the parking lever

If I recall correctly, the 737 was quite the struggle with the parking brake as well. As always, your vids are informative, but I am not brave enough to fly with a Xbox game controller. I still use my Thrustmaster Airbus throttles with flap and airbrake add on which works perfectly.

I somehow figured that out without trying too much, but one thing I struggled with playing with my controller was hitting TOGA mode, I actually pressed that screw multiple times and it just wouldn't engage so I ran off the runway. It would be nice if PMDG just implemented it similar to the Airbus, at least for controllers, after going full throttle levers, release and press again to go into TOGA.

What is the Parking Brake setting you're using in the PMDG Simulation options? Simple of Realistic? If you're using Realistic, this tutorial won't work when you're jumping into the airplane because of the "Brake source" warning which means that there's "[insufficient] hydraulic pressure available in the brake accumulator". See PMDG's docs. To fix this, you have to first turn on one of the C1/C2 Elec switches in the Hydraulic panel. This will increase the pressure in the Brake accumulator. Only then the procedure you describe in the video will work.

It does not even say parking break set. The lever is down but it just wont move. And i'v done multiple flights with the 777 and have not had any problems with the parking break. But now it just wont realse! The massege is gone btw. The massege goes away when hold down my break butten but just wont move. Not with gsx not with the standard Microsoft puchback tool.

Back out to the main menu and reload, I had that same issue, it starts to bug out when you play with the brakes too much. My brakes were pulsing when taxiing. A simple restart didn’t do it, gotta reload entirely.

Nope, doesn't work either. Tried everything, this, and combined with the realistic brakes. GSX refuses to move the plane and keeps asking me to "release parking brakes" even though they are released.

The stupidity of pmdg is annoying, they even have different brake settings than their own 737, the most common thing I see on the forum these days is asking for help with brakes.It's not just a setting problem, there's even bug with the automatic brake during taxiing, and pushback is also a hassle. Wow, amazing, just PMDG can do🤩
@jback6379
@jback6379 2 месяца назад
So I'm quite curious. Why aren't you flying on the 777 if you have the typerating. Don't they cost loads of money and is it in that case not a waste. Or is there a different reason?
@anthonygreene9665
@anthonygreene9665 2 месяца назад
Must be a requirement for his company. It’s really not that expensive if you compare how much it costs the airline to operate a delayed flight. Off schedule ATC fees, gate fees for the aircraft to be parked longer than scheduled, etc. are not cheap. In this case if he’s rated on a plane he doesn’t fly, in the event they need a 77 pilot, they can use him or anyone else rated on it. They wouldn’t need to call someone off reserve which can take hours, or worse case scenario, deadhead another 77 pilot from another airport, which would take the entire day more or less.
@anthonygreene9665
@anthonygreene9665 2 месяца назад
I will add however in the U.S. being type rated on both is not normal, the FAA has different requirements regarding that. But because of that I’ve seen several flights get delayed 5-10+ hours cause they can’t find a 77 pilot, then crew scheduling tries calling a 78 pilot as a Hail Mary lol
