Hi Kaushal. Unfortunately, with your experience, you will not be eligible for PMP. I recommend that you go for CAPM Certification instead to get into core entry-level project management jobs.

Hello Shamsher, you get 3 takes for the exam in a span of 365 days. For each take you need to pay the full exam fee...if you are not able to pass in 3 takes, you need to open a new application again...this rule is same whether if you are a PMI member or non-member...

Hello Diali, would suggest MBA+PMP is a great combination to aim for! Since you have consulting work ex, even better! I would suggest definitely give it a try...but maybe in the late 1st yr or early 2nd year of your MBA. That way you get time to focus on your MBA first...that should be your priority now....then a PMP just before you sit for placements!

The key thing is, you need to perform the roles & responsibilities of a project manager such as managing budget, managing funds, managing resources, quality, delivery etc. etc.....if you have done those, you can definitely apply for PMP... Note that a ‘project’ should have a definite start & end + convey a very tangible before/after scenario. Routine roles such as of maintenance, administration etc. are not treated as projects. Hi Renjith, if you are managing invoice/expense processing, that may not categorize as a project. Hence, you may not be eligible at all for PMP. Instead you can try CAPM certification to foray into the field of project management. You will definitely meet the eligibility criteria of CAPM exam.

I will suggest the following study plan for those 4 weeks: W1: 1st + 2nd mock test & analysis W2: 3rd + 4th mock test & analysis W3: Revision of error logs and last minute brush ups W4: Write the final exam Hope this helps...!

Of course you can! PMP is independent of any domain of profession and this degree has a wide range of acceptance across different industries. Big NGOs of the world such has CRY, WHO, CARE, BRAC does need PMP certified PMs to lead projects.

Hi Prasanna, it's good that you have such high aspirations in mind. However, for both PMP & PRINCE2 you need to have at least 3 years of quality project management experience. So keep working hard till you meet the eligibility criteria & then you can start your application.

Hi, I have a question. I am into bid management and my projects are RFx documents/proposals. Average length of my projects are nothing more than 10-15 days. I understand we have to add up 36 months of project description but if I write those descriptions individually, it would take forever (I will have to list about 100+ proposals that way). Also, there would be a lot of redundancy. Can I lump my project experience into just one description and add 36 months to it?

Hi Mansi, unfortunately, only bid management does not qualify for an overall project experience. Also, you will be in a tough situation justifying that experience if your application is audited. The key thing is, you need to perform the roles & responsibilities of a project manager such as managing budget, managing funds, managing resources, quality, delivery etc. etc (not only bid management).....if you have done those, you can definitely apply for PMP....if not, you need to go for CAPM certification first... Note that a ‘project’ should have a definite start & end + convey a very tangible before/after scenario. Routine roles such as of maintenance, administration etc. are not treated as projects.

@@PMPwithRayThanks for the response. But I know a few people into proposal life cycle management who are PMP certified too. Also, the proposal process involves initiation (hold kick-off meetings, idenfitying stakeholders), planning (market research, coming up with win themes and strategy), execution (working on the documentation, coordinating with functional managers and SMEs, run the review for the various versions), monitoring and controlling (quality check from legal and design standpoint) and eventually closing by delivering the document to the stakeholder. The final outcome is a tangible - response to RFPs). Since all of the requests have a definitive start date, end date and lead time.. how can it be considered as operation. If it does, please suggest your thoughts here so that I can decide whether or not to pursue. Thanks for your time.

Hi Mansi, yes if you have done all those that you have mentioned, they are definitely 'procurement projects' and should qualify for the definition of a project. They key thing is you need to show that you have demonstrated most of them for a single project rather than bits and pieces in different projects. The description should come out for an overall project...there is no harm in applying with what you mentioned have done...there is no cost for application...so you might as well give it a try.

@@PMPwithRay thank you and I do everything I mentioned above in each of the proposal project. Now coming back to my original question, my projects are of short lead time, 10-12 days on an average. Now if I go about splitting unique, non-overlapping projects, I would be somewhere around 100 such projects to add up to 36 months. Many of these projects will have redundancy in description given the nature of my work. My question is, can I lump my projects into one category cover 36 months since the processes remains more or less the same each time?

Hi Pragya, you can become a PM in any industry...banking, finance, retail, education, social responsibility, manufacturing, engineering, medical, IT etc. The key thing is to identify where your interest lie and plan to get your next degree after 12th on that field...BBA is definitely an option, but what are your plans after BBA? Which type of companies do you wish to work for? These answers should be clear before you aspire to become a PM.

Hello, PMP certification is not domain/industry specific. Even if the questions with the new syllabus focuses on Agile a lot, that doesn't matter in the end after you have got the certification. Hello Atiq, As of now you don't have the required experience for PMP. What you can do is as follows: 1. Get yourself a CAPM Certification first 2. Then get into any entry-level project manager role to get >3 years of work-ex (with the CAPM Certification you would be better off in getting interview calls for this profile compared to your peers) 3. Next, get the PMP Certification 4. You can also plan to get additional certifications such as PRINCE2, CSM, CSPO, AWS, ITIL Lv4...based on your industry

A masters degree in project management is always good. A degree has more value than a certification. However, the cost of a masters degree is far far higher than a certification. You can plan accordingly as per your career interests....if you need to get into PM domain quickly, getting a certification (PMP) is beneficial...however if you want to get into academics or have the funds & time...definitely go for a masters! Hi Vandita, Given your background....yes, PMP certification will be the right cherry on top for you....but you need to have at least 3yrs of project experience....

If you are in arts stream and willing to goto Italy, I don't think PMP would be needed/required for you. It will not help you much as well. Try GRE or other avenues to reach Italy.

Hi Faizan, as I have mentioned in the description section of my videos, views expressed through my videos are personal. Having said that, I am sure that PMI has kept the mock exam score at 80% to set a high standard of preparation among aspirants....which is a good thing. However, PMI has never officially disclosed the passing score of PMP exam.

Hi Faizan, as long as you are scoring above 60% across different platforms of mocks, I would suggest that you do not take the scores as representative of your actual exam. I never scored >70% in any of my mocks during my prep. Still I passed the exam....

I got 71.5% on the pmp from india on pmi, I realized that the questions i got wrong were on situation questions. And they were not easy. Ill review the stakeholder engagement, communication management, risk and procurement. Those areas i need extra coaching

Hi sir, thanks for the informative video on the PMP structure. I have financial problems but I aspire to become a PMP. So, if I become a PMI member, do I need to pay only 139 dollar to take the exam? Please show me an example if you can. I will be very great ful to you.

Hi Diu. PMI member is separate than the exam fees. Exam fees are about 300-400$. I suggest you don't become the PMI member and only arrange for the exam fees.
