Pocket Bike Won't Start Help: Quick Fix

took me straight to the problem! thanks. I also looked closely inside my fuel tank and saw crap in there. so I drained the old fuel while I cleaned the brass shaft and it started again.

Hey man, I just had to tell you that have a good take on this common problem and I enjoyed the video. I wanted to share one thing that also causes the same problems: At around 10.55 or so you can see the float actuator (light metal yoke that swivels on a slide pin) that moves a needle valve. That needle valve is the second most common place for dirt to accumulate. If you remove the slide pin, float retainer and needle valve and clean with spray carb cleaner it will solve a lot of issues that aren't covered by your procedure. AND, if you do the procedure that you outline in this video and remove the throttle slide from the top you can clean the jet you removed IN PLACE as well as clean the slide and entire assembly with very little chance of cross threading anything (brass jets into aluminum) so its worth looking into next time you do this. WHICH, you will twice a year cause these things get more dirt in the fuel than a weed wacker in the dessert. Great video, have fun!

if not starting, check the ignition the fuel and the intake, check this major things if not starting, the spark plug, the carburetor, ignition coil, fuel filter, wirings, and also check the fuel tank..

Mine hasn't started in around 5 years broke the pull start, tried every year or so and after almost getting a heart attack from the pulling I almost gave up. I even tried to weld a nut to the starter so I could use my drill haha can't weld aluminium. Today cleaned the jet and bang she ran.

hi it worked for me so thanks alot and btw i started to clean of the carb that made it closer to start then i cleaned it more then even closer to start but when i did this it started first time pull starting it so thanks alot

you have to switch off the air filter and you turn on the gas tank button and it will be work, you wait 30 seconds not more and you switch on the air filter... Try, you don't risk anything...

Try this spray carb cleaner or power tune in your gas tank get it to run then just let it idle lots of smoke will come out of your exhaust its normal rev the engine every now and then until smoke stops or spray power tune only in the breather on the carb it will clean debris and dirt out of carb while ... Well fixin it (To an extent)

Remove old gas even the gas line. spray carb cleaner often. let cleaner set overnight. mix new oil gas. check spark plug. if it still wont go try starter fluid but not much.

It might be wrong i think u may have your inline filter the wrong way around did u fit it with arrow pointing down towards the engine they normally have a arrow showing which way the fuel needs to flow.

Nice video. The stock fuel lines get hard and brittle as result from the Ethenol in out fuel.

the flout doesn't let fuel in it sits on a little arm in your case and when there's no fuel it doesn't flout and as it fills up it rises and closes the needle.

ima try and clean the carb again i took mine all out left it in gas to loosen some oil or what not but when i put it back together it seems that there migt be a problem could be dirt it only starts with choke on and when i open the choke meaning to let more air it bogs well, thanx for the vid

I'm rebuilding one right now for my nephew. I'm assuming starting it with the real wheel in the air might help cause the clutch locks and wants to turn the rear wheel not allowing it to rev.

If the issue is not the fuel line and you believe it is the carb, try buying carb cleaner for cars and use it on the bike also the bubble on the carb may be cracked or popped, hope this helped

Either bad fuel and needs tune or Remove your carb inspect fuel clean carb with ultra sonic or use carb clean and an air line , replace hose and petcock check tune if the carb has a high needle

These aren't really that "shitty". Someone who doesn't know about small two stroke engines would discount the value of the bike with a comment like that. He has replaced everything but the carb. Old and/or dirty gas sitting in carb gums up all the little passage ways in the carb. Also, I have found most of my replacement parts at local Home and Garden store in weedwacker isle. Including the correct 3/8 fuel line AND FUEL FILTER. I found my bike in the trash and it wouldn't start. I first checked for spark. Had spark, so I swapped carb for new one on of eBay. For the time it would have taken me to soak and clean the old carb in spirits, It was simpler for me to just buy new carb for 8 bucks. Also these carbs, regardless of cleared jet (pinhole) there are other internals that can be clogged. New carbs will run straight out of the box. They just need mnor adjustment. Always run fuel filter and run bike dry by shutting off fuel switch while bike its running before putting away.

Well, it looks like it didn't work that well, possibly a spark plug issue or a piston rings issue? My best advice would be to buy a brand new 15 carburetor so it'll be clean and better, a new spark plug and some new piston rings, or why not to directly buy a big bore kit.

on top of the carbrator the throtle line is black it screws into the carb take it out . then hold throtle in and it should bring the black peace up and then keep holding the throttle in and screw it back into the carb

3 slow and easy pulls ..... then pull hard. Repeat till it starts. Don’t give it throttle.

i had my mini dirt bike it running for ages and i haven't used it in a while and i just tried to start it up, nothing. didn't even sound like it wanted to start, so i poured fuel into the spark plug hole and it started straight away, but then cut out, now it wont start at all? I think its because no fuel is getting to engine but don't see why as i have a brand new carb and air filter and yes i have fuel mixed correctly

Did you watch the video? I talked about both of these things. Your gas line is leaking and so was mine (in video at 3:05). You don't want it to be doing that. Do what I did and replace the whole gas line, making sure you keep the fuel filter bulb. Then see if it starts if not clean the carb. Watch the video though.

it’s called a fuel tap

adjust your air, and idle screw, and get a performance carb, i had a million problems with the stock ones, and now when i run the performance carbs all of my problems are gone, and next time, just remove the entire engine. way more easy, and on these bikes you dont even need experience, dont worry if you fuck something up, there are a lot of tutorials on how to (dis)assemble your bike. so you'll know what part is missing if you lost something.

Tune the idle bolt mine was set up wrong and bogged down on high revs

My mini dirt bike hasn't run for about 2 years and the other day i tried to start it, it started but cut out very shortly, i tried it again and it started then cut out . Today it isn't starting, i cant even hear the exhaust wanting to start. I've looked at loads of different videos and they're not really helping. Does anyone know what to do? I dont know much about mini bikes so i dont want to take it apart too much as i might muck it up. Please help

Most of the time it's pumping too much or too little petrol into the engine try adjusting it

Hey I have a 125cc dirt bike and I don't know what rings are or if it's something else plz tell me. It smokes a lot and drips oil from the muffler

fuel line is too big which is why it bogs out. getting too much fuel will do that. ive got a pocket quad with a 49cc also. check your fuel key, mine was clogged.

My mini dirt bike hasnt run for a while and the other day it started, the problem is that it went straight to full rev's when i hadn't twisted the throttle at all, as i wasnt expecting it the bike fliped backwards and the throttle snapped as well as part of the fairing. I am scared to start it again because of this. I've been told that my throttle slider is in the wrong way, but is there any other things that are causing this? Please help
