I would like to THANK YOU PETER HANMER for ALL of your videos. I went from Helpless and not confident in the POD HD500x to absolutely LOVING it. Your Tutorials were VERY informative and thorough. Your videos took me through the step by step on how to get the POD HD to work for me... I am still trying to figure out how it best serves me but that problem is mine and i guess i have to Decide what and how i want to use the POD HD. I play a Gibson Les Paul and i use a Mesa Boogie Mark IV (1990) and i play in a cover band, so i guess i play everything from Tome Petty to Megadeth to AC/DC. So if you have any tips for me on how to get those sounds i'll appreciate it. I like the sound of the Boogie BUTT it does'nt give me everything i need to play the songs from the bands i listed above. Having said that i Love the sound of the Boogie. hence my dilema. Anyways.. THANKS AGAIN and Keep up the good work...
+Paul Amar Thanks, Paul. I'm glad that you found them helpful. Only other advice I can give is always "less is more". Don't flood your patches with effects. The more effects, the less you'll be present in the overall mix.
Excuse me , but in the 4 cables method because using the simulation of the amp .In general this setup is used to get the sound of a real amp . Thank you
+enrico mechelli I'm not sure what you mean. I've said in most of my videos that there are no rules. If it sounds good then it sounds good. Every amp, every speaker cab is different. You cannot have hard and fast rules when playing with different settings. This is purely meant as a guide.
Могу ли я попросить Вас записать видео о том, как настраивать POD HD? Ведь в меню девайса очень много разных настроек, которые влияют на качество звука. Таких видео практически нет. А они очень востребованы. Если конечно для Вас это не трудно.
I thought the thinking behind this method was to use the amps pre-amp mixed in with your pods effects. Other wise you may as well plug it straight to the return.
Martin Crane The theory behind this method is the correct positioning of the effects in the chain. It allows you the ability to have your drives connected to the front of your amp and your other effects (Chorus, Reverbs, delays etc) into the send and return. This only works really well when your amp has a proper serial effects loop though.
Hi, When using only the guitar amp's power amp (connecting the POD straight to return input) do i need to set a power amp on the patch? or just use a full amp simulation with no cabinet? thank's a lot
You should try both. When it comes to playing into gtr amps, there are so many variables and the rules don't apply. If it sounds better using a power amp in the POD then use it. Sometimes the best tones are obtained by doing things differently.
I'm confused regarding using the POD Amp model (say Plexi) into the front end of this combo, surely you are putting the pre amp into another pre amp? I thought the amp went into the power amp stage of the combo? Then the distortions/compressors etc went into the combo pre amp?
So if I wanna use presets or downloaded tones with the 4 cable method, they will sound better if I insert the FX loop after the amp in the preset patch?
Hi there! I'm buying a POD HD500X and I'm planning to connect it like this: -Guitar->POD IN; -POD OUT-> Amp's FX Return. I've got a solid-state Orange Head and a 2x12 Cab. Should I still select the "1/4'' Out" to Amp? Or should I pick Line? Also, with this configuration, the volume/master knobs of my amp will control something or not? Thanks
Choose "AMP". Also, choose "Stomp" on the rear panel of the pod. Output mode use Stack or Combo PWRAMP. (Combo has a little bass increase, Stack doesn't). I use the 4CM on both Orange Crush 35rt and a Marshall MG100DFX.
