Two very smart women talking about a very important subject. As a survivor of narcissistic abuse, I LOVE that this is creating more awareness about such a destructive component of our society and culture, especially here in the US. Bravo and thanks for having this conversation!

I am a school teacher, and I do deal with parents and students that think due dates and classroom rules don't apply to them. Sadly, this sense of entitlement is affecting our education system in more ways than you might realize. Over the years, I've learned how to work with these types of individuals, but now I have a whole new perspective. Thank you!

Thank you ladies ❤️ this convo will save people. I owe my life to my therapist who recognized the narcissist and told me to run from my marriage. It took a year after that but eventually I did. As always Dr.Ramani has the most grounded acceptance of narcissistic relationships and how tricky they can be. Dr Leaf, I’ve always benefitted so much from your podcasts (and books), but this talk really disturbed me. There is so much conflicting information right now with COVID, misrepresentation by the media and the government (admittedly - Covid stats are being skewed). The statements that “conspiracy theorists are narcissistic” and people who don’t wear masks are narcissistic seem inappropriate and borderline abusive in a time where everyone is trying their best to figure out what’s right and best - without succumbing to fear. Especially with what has come to light about Bill Gates, etc. I’ve been a follower for a few years because I was thrilled to find an intelligent, articulate woman of science who was also led by the Spirit. But I’ve wondered about the balance of that recently. You do you, but that’s my two cents. ✌️

I am a little confused at how the conversation turned into a broad over generalization and labeling, just short of diagnosing, a subculture that has developed in our society because some have grown skeptical of questionable practices and players within our governments. How can you call government officials narcissistic and even psychopathic (which had been suggested in the past), yet not understand how some in society have grown distrusting. To overgeneralize and label as narcissistic such people after creating a straw man argument is unfair, unprofessional and beneath the level of these two admirable professionals. I have come across many intelligent, empathetic and educated people who could easily be labeled as “conspiracy theorists”, by the mainstream definition and it is a shame that the ridicule of such people has so pervaded even into this conversation. Political talk and narratives do not belong here, in my opinion. And people who are listening are trying to heal. Very likely to be diagnosed and labeled themselves apparently, if their own political views are not in alignment. That being said, clearly this current political climate is fanning th narcissistic and self-righteous flame.

I agree with you I would say I'm the least narcissistic person but I totally distrust our governments. Probably because I believe the Bible and there is a world agenda for One world government. I also am disappointed that this turned political. I listen to very many doctors trying to educate myself on this virus. There's a lot of doctors that said the virus is so small it would go through the mask at least the mask almost everyone was wearing. So who's not following science??

Dr Leaf, I admire your work and thank you for all the podcast interviews during this horrible pandemic time. I never write reviews but I know I need to this time. I listened to your interview of Dr Ramani on my plane ride to Florida to spend time with my grown children and husband of 35 years. My marriage has been a rough one but we have stayed together all these years. There is no denying that I have my share of faults for sure! We made it through infidelity. My teacher daughter told me she thinks her dad has asbergers syndrome which made sense to me on many levels. And helped me accept my life better. But I wish I wouldn’t have heard your interview with dr Ramani. It has torn me up..my husband fit so much of what she said. He always has to win, and doesn’t care who it hurts, cognitive dissonance is so who he is, no empathy. But she said there’s no hope for them to change. I can’t believe this. It will kill me! I am a prisoner of hope and believe there is always hope. Did I miss something?

Hello Debbie, I can relate very well to what you’re going through. Your life sounds so much like mine. During my newfound journey of self awareness (since I lost myself raising my 5 +3 children and in trying to be everything my husband wanted), I have recently learned a lot about Narcissism and people who have the traits. At first I was terrified (and really torn up) that my husband does have some traits, but my education has given me a new perspective, and now knowing what I’m dealing with has sort of freed me in a sense. I now have more understanding and compassion and I feel sad for him. But at the same time, I know I must protect myself and continue to educate myself. It would kill me too if changing were not possible. I am also a prisoner of hope and believe there is always hope and that is PRECISELY what has kept me above water in my marriage. I am not a professional but I think with a plan, self education, setting some healthy boundaries and wisdom we need to protect ourselves. For me, I don’t want to become more and more depressed. I don’t want to die from this. I recently realized that I had reached my mental capacity to deal with the pain and that I can’t do it anymore. It’s a very new, dangerous and scary place for me to be in. I was always the one to counsel others...even my elders...now I need the counsel. Please take care and know you’re not alone. I’m sorry I don’t have more answers. 💜 The only thing I’m sure of in this life is that Our Lord can touch, change and heal ANYONE!

As someone with narcissists in my family I’m concerned that this discussion makes them out to be terrible people and that if you’re married to one the only solution is to divorce or find a way to cope. From my experience relationships with narcissists are very challenging but not impossible. It should also be noted that narcissism is a spectrum so it’s overly simplistic to lump all narcissists together. I look forward to a follow up discussion on the topic where hopefully some of these things are brought up and given clarity.

@lifecoachlesli3647
@lifecoachlesli3647 4 года назад
Although this is listed as a component of the end times, interestingly enough, it's ALL through the bible, OT as well. Think about King Saul and a LOT of the other Kings. Even Saul/Paul was a huge not only narcissist but psychopath with how he remorselessly slaughtered Christians. It took a smack up side the head for him to even be self aware enough to recognize Jesus actually was the Messiah but then after that it was 14 years before he was healthy enough to spread the gospel. That's how deep seated his selfishness was.

To Life coach Lesil, because of the transformation Paul experienced and the revelation he recieved, he began to spread the Gospil immediately. It is the work of the Holy Spirit at work that transforms, you don't negate that. Minister Jesse Duplantis was ministered to in a restroom of a club and was converted immediately. He was a rockstar.
@lifecoachlesli3647
@lifecoachlesli3647 4 года назад
@@victoriaogletree4669 I have different information. He was studying for at least 3 years and then was in other places before he was officially starting his ministry 14 years later. Paul couldn't go to the Jews directly because they knew he was a murder! Having had personal experiencewith people who call themselves Christians but are actually narcissists and sociopaths, even in instances where God divinely intervenes and tries to get their attention they resist and don't want to change. They have a know-it-all attitude and they look down on people and are not teachable. Paul is a bit of an exception but God doesn't change people overnight, they have to want to change and I see that in real life as well as throughout the Bible. Including with Paul. Here is a link in case you want to reference that. I think you may have erroneous information about Paul's ministry. Blessings 🙏 biblehub.com/nkjv/galatians/2.htm

I'm surprised that with this hour long podcast, the focus of some comments were on her perceptions on wearing the masks. She said "some people". No individual names were targeted. Narcissistic people were. The doctor also did illustrate how narcissism affects others, and coping skills. Despite the mask issue, she also talked about starting children to learn empathy and self awareness. Let's not take any of this personally. Let's just find tools to cope and influence in a positive way.

So interesting! I've been saying this for years and I'm not even a psychologist. I'm just very perceptive and intuitive. I see people hogging the road and speeding and not following the rules and thinking...aha! that person is not a team player. They don't care about anyone but themselves. I've also been saying this about people who refuse to wear a mask...they don't care about showing respect for others. And when these people talk their favorite words are "I" and "me". It's like they found themselves in a change curve and they're stuck in the denial/me phase. But I never would have classified them as narcissistic.

When they get older and are no longer successful, famous ness, and worthiness makes them even worse and more dangerous. What I have learned is surprising to me… A narcissist is actually afraid to be alone and therefore needs to make you afraid to be without them. They are happiest in a hospital or in a rest home where they are cared for like a baby. Which is what they want from you and I. When they don’t get it they come back with… I’m not like the rest of these. They can be dangerous and will accuse you of abuse and even call the police on you. I’m long winded…😊😊😊

No one truly changes without repentance of sin. Our carnal nature cannot change without being born again. I didn’t feel your sense of mercy and love for the people with Narssitic personalities. All things are possible with God. Many Many. testimonies of God changing people through repentance. Just recently Dr Leaf. I feel you are drifting away from the truth of Gods word.

Dr. Leaf, I am a mom of a small child. Could you please help me to find more information on this part you talk about in this video: 23:50 The two most important tasks of a parent or guardian. I think I live in a mild narcissistic relationship and my partner would like to cooperate in self-awareness and self-change. I do believe you when you say the brain can be changed because of its neuroplasticity. And I would like us both to be good parents and partners and people in general.. Thank you so much.

I binge watch Dr. Ramani because she so accurately and articulately communicates the state of fallen mankind. We all know Trump has the narcissist traits, like many (if not all) of his predecedsors. His lack of performance in the empathy arena will always be regarded by those who don't agree with his policies (and by some who do). But to face the core issues in government. The love of money and power. It's going to take someone who's willing to stand between the most crooked and perverse narcissistic politicians who could care less about you or I, and say NO MORE, not on my watch. We're the one's exploited. They'll stop at nothing to remain in power, even if they seemingly give us what we want. Let Trump support their policies, and they'd somehow excuse away his behavior because it would benefit them. You can't have it both ways. The fairytale that we could all agree to what the 'greater good' is, will always be just that. A pipe dream. Until then, we all just need a heart transplant (spiritually speaking). There's a heart issue at the core of every human being. Definitions of Good-Evil, Right-Wrong will always differ. One day when we all stand before our Maker and give an account. Hopefully, we won't have studied Adam so long and what the devil did thru him, that we completely miss the greater good of what Christ did thru Jesus, and what He'll do thru one surrendered soul who places their trust in Him. It takes looking at these behaviors that bears the question, how can we be saved? Can a perfect God use imperfect people, whose performance is ever evolving? Or do we just need a new heart altogether? This divided nation (and world) needs a breakthrough. Dr. Ramani is definitely part of that breakthrough. A gift from God to help us all understand that Adamic nature in all us, and how desperately helpless we are without a Savior. How are we going to escape? But that's another comment for another day. Dr. Ramani you're helping many people (including me) see how desperate we all are.

@@delmariecharlene9671 I respect your belief that “he can” change them. However “can” is different than he “does” change them. Evidence strongly upholds that these people hold firm to their abusive ways. As you will pull a child in from a storm to protect them, we need to get victims away from these people and not to tell them to wait for a change.

The whole wearing a mask subject, is a way of shaming folks here, which is gaslighting. I think folks have the right to choose personal medical care and any apparatuses on their bodies. Cloth masks (fashion/political wear) do literally nothing to protect from illness. Medical masks do help but are not meant to wear on your face for prolonged periods of time, hindering our only natural orifices we use for air exchange. I have battled cancer and still feel.its a personal choice. I am more curious about those folks who have been in a long term relationship with a narcissist, that they have developed or mirrored use of this behavior as well, and are still not aware of it, this is a topic needs discussed more.

I have been listening to these two amazing women for some time. I have Great respect for them both and am also incredibly indebted to them for their past profound insights and knowledge. However. I am also deeply disappointed on their ill informed discussion here on this controversial topic, and their sheer lack of research, critical thinking or insight. Dr Ramani it was unworthy of you to label, malign and poke fun of people who wish to question the malevolent mainstream narrative we are being forced to endure. Many PhD’s on mass, across the globe are refusing to accept this, this mainstream narrative or the demands of government. As you know, and if not not anything else, PhDs know how read, research and think critically. And they seek out patterns. You say those who go against the mainstream are selfish and narcissistic, for challenging the advice of epidemiologists and yet these sort of people who do are “barely out of high school” - You then belittle and talk about them as if they are ignorant uneducated red necks. Please be careful here Dr. Read the clinical trials in Pubmed on masks and listen to some of the most highly cited and qualified drs and scientists in the world! Even the uneducated know how to be discerning. Please, do the research instead of parroting stereotypical rot. Research OUTSIDE the mainstream to start with on how many tens of thousands of young people are dead or maimed for life, after being forced by totalitarian governments and corporates to have the shot. Even the official figures are getting beyond belief. Then look at the class actions suits from tens of thousands of Drs around the world while your gazing at global numbers... and start considering those real narcs who control the power structures at every level above govt leaders. Research where many of them gained their start. And who funded them. Research who is in control (this is your area) ABOVE the pharmaceuticals. Cross reference the Boards of big pharma and the MM. This is rather revelatory. Follow the money Dr. as they say. Consider the profound research of Dr David Martin and Dr Peter McCullough. We the people must become very aware of narcissism and psychopathy and where it truly lives and how it controls us, mere mortals. When you do your research I suggest you don’t use google.
