Bitches are insignificant. Their only purpose is to produce males.

Because a father can sire a lot more litters than a mother can birth, so you get a larger quantity of quality puppies out of a single male than you do out of a single female. Obviously both are important, but an owner of a quality female needs to be a lot more choosy about which male they breed them to because of how much investment she puts into the pregnancy. The owner of the male can pretty much stud the dog out as many times as the dog is willing to sustain without much consequence.

@@PrincessLelouch yes, numbers are different. But how should that be tied to the factor, that the male name is chosen for lineage keeping. There would be more lineages if females were used, but they’d also say more about the puppy. Why doesn’t that beat quantities in top tier dog breeding.

​@@cordo7051 I can't speak for dog breeding, but with other working animals it has to do with which animal is usually performing. The females often are not AS involved in work, because of heats and pregnancy and raising young, while the male is performing the entire time so likely has more metals etc (in the case of showing) and has had more opportunity to show their excellence. The obvious exception is in dairy animals where the female is the only one who can perform, so males can show off their conformation but not their production, and males are given stars only if their female relatives have stars. Think of broodmares and stallions. The broodmares spend far less time performing. They are not known for their performance but for their genetics. The stallions on the other hand, are known for their performance. You can only breed a horse every other year at most, and you only get one foal, but an excellent stallion may sire hundreds of foals. So who would that foal be known for, the mare who no one has heard of, or the stallion who's competed his whole life and has sired hundreds? I do agree that the female contributes more. In fact, in horses a "half sibling" is really only considered a sibling if they have the same mother. If they simply have the same father they are hardly related. Because the mare contributes far more to the foal.

@@cordo7051not sure what you mean by the male name is chosen for lineage. Puppies get the kennel name of the dam. Sometimes you may see the kennel name of the sire added such as Mom puppy V (or von) Dad (mom being the dam kennel name and Dad being the sire kennel name). Reputable breeders work very hard trying to match a dam and sire. Picking the characteristics that are the best of both and hoping those are passed on. I’ve even known breeders who had a breeding set only to find out about an issue with the other dog and cancel the breeding. Responsible breeders pour hours and hours into planning a breeding, care of the dam and raising the puppies.

I’m sure this dude is going to be running background checks. He knows what he’s doing and why.

Around 1 mint the bennie guy tried to keep something on the table and realised what he is doing can be called hallucination and quickly removed his hand!!!!

Magnus is not interested in the ladies, and Yes that's a "Thing"' in the Natural World!! We humans often forget that we are Mammals and as such we have preferences and dislikes as well. (Including sexual orientation.) This occurs in wildlife as well as domestic animals. I'm certain this was talking about in one of Shorts!!🙂👍👍..

You should probably find a trainer to help you socialize him. He's going to isolate you if he can't be trusted in public. You won't be able to take him anywhere.

'In the moment knowledge' it reminds me of martial arts. Having to improvise in the moment to ensure survival. I really need to get my GSD up to scratch. Love love love following these podcasts. Learning so much invaluable info

Maybe look into a CGC training class or something similar. Even a general puppy class can help with socialization. Just make sure the trainer isn’t relying on positive punishment for training because that can reinforce fear. Otherwise, have people you know practice walking by you and the dog and drop treats, starting at an easy (far) distance with them ignoring the dog, then working closer gradually, then starting to linger around longer and longer. Work up gradually until they can walk up and talk to you without the dog reacting. If the dog reacts, then you have to increase the distance and make it easier for the dog.
