This was GREATTTTTT. Can we get more of this?! Chill hangs, not everything needs to be packed with info. Opinions and preferances and memories are high value content! Thank you!!!
Something else about the one support gem oer skill thing, it also helps balance skill power since every skill can be six linked now. If you could just have 12 skills all with 6l, it would be kind of busted. Now you actually have to decide what supports go best with which skills.
I agree with Velayna about clarifying stuff. I've argued with people who have played tbousands of hours and still don't know certain mechanics like ele/chaos pen do not affect damage ocer time.
I would be down if you had 6 portals at white maps 3 at yellow and 1 at red to really make the tiers feel different. (Assuming a similar endgame to poe1 of course)
What if the amount of portals you get for a map is somehing you have control over, where having fewer portals increases the quality of your loot. I don't think the bonus could be too big, because it might incentivize grinding trivial maps on one portal, but if you make it so that tier x maps on one portal are still less rewarding than tier x+1 maps on six, it could work.
I started with Skyrim, then went to Oblivion and then to Morrowind. Got the Boots of Blinding Speed, started running, screen turns black. I'm like "Oooh, I have a new favorite game" :D
They can probably get an intern to cull down the word count on the explanations. Start off with the most descriptive version, then cull down the words while still retaining the contents. Then structure it somewhat like "what does it achieve?" "ranges" "how does it achieve it"
Regarding the complexity of the descriptions of skills, I definitely think the video will help. But also I'm always a bit perplexed how in poe1, the skill description at the top of the tooltip and the detailed info further down, aren't more clearly separated. I think the top part should describe what the skill does, and then the bottom part should have the step by step detail of what happens and the numbers. At the moment the bottom part is often in a weird order that makes it hard to understand, and they have weird things like "minions do 25% more damage" instead of "minions FROM THIS SKILL do 25% more damage"
1:15:30 IMO Pohx nailed here back in the day playing the game was the endgame. To create a truly great game the first thing is creating an experience that you want to re-live. I doesn't matter how many bells and whistles you game has in the endgame, if there's not a good reason to get there.
Imaple basically records the damage of the hit that applied it, then deals 10% of the damage on the next 5 hits. So if I do 100 dmg and impale, my next hit will deal an additional 10dmg.
I hope they make it so end game bosses are infiniite "portals" except the boss resets when you leave the instance, similar to how it works in the campaign. So you can take as long as you need to learn the fight but ultimately to win you have to be able to 1 shot it and cant cheese.
Yeah I can agree with this. I said in my own comment that if it was a 1 portal system and then you fail literally all my friends would quit forever the second they lose their 1st map. I think your proposal makes sense it just resets everything. Itd open the door for a carry service meta to be more prevalent but honestly whatever
One portal is also prone to DCs, and I don't think game can realistically tell the difference between genuine issues on client side and someone just unplugging their cord from their PC. If they wanna limit corpse rushing dying to a boss might just cost more than 1 portal, but that might be hard to explain/justify to players
Love you Pohx, my man has the chillest vibes and I too still have my original Final Fantasy 7 Playstation discs. I love the renewed D4 bad,I don't know why everyone seems to like it since season 4, feels like a bizarre echo-chamber.
It's really hard to know how to feel about the one portal in endgame without knowing how they're designing the rest of it e.g. farming invitations. I know they were removing the boss cheese already and death will reset the boss so this feels redundant. There's also factor about how loot works, like how many times you need go to town to stash or sell things. Also, what rolling maps is like will affect how this feels.
Genuinely hope that poe2 will cross this gap between modern and old school arpgs and games in general, where now you hurry to the endgame to play and previously the whole journey mattered way more than your rune/fragment farming routine after. It unnecessary to be just one, we definitely can have two at the same time and looks like ggg seeing it the same way.
i stopped playing poe one because there was not enough ways to get extra damage other then gear, so i am very happy we have extra skills/supports and combos to help bridge that gap. i stopped before harvest league. i played for about 4 years or so.
i don't really like LE corruption system and that fact u have to do a few thing before u get to bosses the key bosses. i hate the fact like lets say u want to combine LP you need to go there go through the annoying maze get to the boss and if u die u have to re do the boring beginning bit. just make it so if i use a key i go straight to the boss fight
D4- What bothers me most about D4 is that they tried to pass it off as a finished product. For more money then any other Diablo game, with every monetization possible. They never had a "endgame" planned and they are using the players to finish the game all the while gaslighting them. They still don't have a "endgame" and from the looks of it you probably will have to pay money to get one. POE 2- I hate being able to use only one support gem change. It's limiting and if GGG wants us to use other supports then make them worth using or don't include them in them game. We don't need 200 gems if half of them are unusable right? I also am very concerned over the push for console play and I'm convinced it will hurt the base game because of it. WASD is something I don't think should be in a arpg, it's the old school feeling in me.
Many PoE1 support gems are 'worth using' but are never used just because increasing damage is more important. This is how you have increase damage supports AND cool supports both have a place.
@@blackomega34 "but are never used just because increasing damage is more important" So they aren't worth using then, got it. So now with this change you are forced to use them versus actually wanting to because they are good. "increasing damage is more important" It will alwats be more important. It's a arpg, and the type of game forces it. I'm sure GGG will make it less important as possible though.
man i wish they'd talk more about torchlight, its a genuinely fun game minus the gacha pets and having to buy characters, i know alot of people hate that "p2w" stuff but the endgame is really addictive
1 portal end game is a stupid idea... kinda. They should scale down how many portals you get by difficulty. The harder/more late game the content is the fewer tries you get. If ANY of my friends play poe2 and get 1 life on a map, die and fail early in maps theyll quit the game forever. 100% guaranteed
I hate the comparison between Elden Ring and PoE in terms of difficulty. In Elden Ring, when you get blasted you know why it happened and how you can avoid it in the future. It may take a few tried, but there's the slow progression of learning mechanics, no network lag, no disconnects, and the entry cost is free. In PoE, it's incredibly rare that I know what killed me or how to avoid it, and my upside down internet is frequently laggy or unstable. Add to that Maps having a cost to acquire and roll, I would despise one portal. Unless they fix the one shots, telegraphing, and visual clarity, leave that shit for the masochists in hardcore.
My only thing with this conversation is how they all seem to try and project that Poe is a perfect or the best arpg because objectively looking at the top played in the genre it has a lot of problems. I’ve played thousands of hours in most of these ARPG’s and played poe2 and I am impressed but there are also a ton of worries and design choices that other games have made that have been overwhelmingly hated. Diablo 4 isn’t perfect, torch light isn’t perfect, Diablo 2 is far from perfect and the list goes on but they all do something better than the rest and have their niches. Not sure why this mentality of, this game is just better than the rest and because of that every other game is trash is so prevelent among content creators. Sad to hear and see to be honest.
i agree that Poe2 will likely be very good and i am lookin forward to it but i am more interested to see if they'll fuck up next poe1 league like they did necropolis :/
I hate... loath... turn based. However, I'm so interested in games made by gamers. Also MrLamma's views on ARPG's hold a lot of weight to me, because I'm a Diablo 2 LoD/R enjoyer and Path of Exile. So those 2 are the reasons why I will play it. I in a perfect world blizzard makes Lamma god in the Diablo franchise and and in charge of D5 development.
The amount of patience DM has for Diablo 4 is unbelievable. Pushing corruption in LE is boring, but somehow D4 pits are enjoyable. That's such a hypocritical take right there, man. Also, what bosses does D4 have that are memorable, other than the unfair Lilith fight?
Classic podcast where streamers farm and promote their own work with a different title on the video.. Further forward they have same issues that other devs face but no one say is bad game, it’s all good! 🤣 just hilarious this guys
