Sardoche was the eventual winner congrats to him but there were many heroes of this tournament . Rainn probably the oldest competitor fought players almost half his age and won . He was also graceful in his post match interviews. XQc went a long way in burying his 6 moves defeat defeated poki and Negreaunu finally falling to the winner of the tournament . Moistcr1tikal was defeated only by Rainn and Ludwig . Ludwig fell only to Sardoche but only after dragging him to the blitz section and accounted for Logic . his first game against moist had he won would be a serious contender for the game of the tournament . Benjfishy won against Sardoche but Rainn was too experienced a player . Negreaunu lost to BenjyFishy but only after taking him to the blitz knockout . Tubbo fought well in parts but Neeko was too good . Beast came extremely well prepared but his inexperience let him down . Michelle wins against beast and poki unexpectedly but deservedly put her in the finals . Neeko was another revelation .

I know I'm gonna get hated for saying this, but the only thing I didn't like about these finals is that I felt like Hikaru showed up way too much his preference for Sardoche in his commenting. I know it's totally ok to have a favorite as a fan but as commentator he should've stayed neutral. Before you beat me in the comments: Watch the finals again with this in mind. I was neutral since I liked both players and ultimately felt happier that Sardoche won because of his efforts and enthusiasm. I felt the same uncomfort with Wilson vs Benjy, there too I felt Hikaru's commenting was too leaning towards Benjy's favor. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Hikaru but these observations plus the fact that he was so cold towards Rainn during the post-match interview makes me think he had some dislike for the actor.
@BixenteFabregas
@BixenteFabregas 3 года назад
I didn't felt like this honestly. He said that Sardoche was the top seed to add him an extra pressure (Rainn had more chess club practice). He was pro-Rainn, and pro-American players. And I'm perfectly ok with that. Sardoche had no encouragement by american coaches, apart a huge huge exception: Nemsko.

I still think Rainn Wilson didnt play at full steam... He seemed to avoid obvious moves in many situations, the blunders and the stalemate vs benjy. Im not saying he lost on purpose the last match the checkmate did came out of nowhere but he was making an effort to keep the matches close for sure
@catgenocide6940
@catgenocide6940 3 года назад
You have no evidence for that. I could easily say that all of sardoche's blunders were him trying to "keep things close". Also Rainn's rapid rating was revealed to be in the1300s on his private account. All the objective evidence is in favor of him not throwing, so I literally cannot understand how you come up with this type of viewpoint.
@you9es
@you9es 3 года назад
It seems you forgot the age factor, Rainn Wilson is 50+ yo and at this age you can have lack of concentration for a little moment, that can explain why he played really good 95% of the game and made some misunderstanding blunders

Sardoche was extremely lucky, up to the very last move, seeing as he was completely lost after Kh1. He was dead lost at least one time in most of his games, even against Neeko! He's a resourceful player, which is a compliment when you're a GM, not so in his case. And let's face it, his Tubbo-like celebration was nothing short of cringy. The guy is 27! The most promising player in the tournament was BenjyFishy, not even close.
