Hey Nick. After struggling for 3 to 4 years with BTBW, I finally, after comming across your video, nailed it on June 6, 2008 ~14:30. I'm so happy that I came across your video. Thanks a million and if you're ever in Canada (edmonton, alberta) Drop me a note and I'll treat you to a "Thank You" drink. You have been a great teacher and without you, I'd still be struggling with it! Keep up the good work. Peace, love and cookies for you my friend.
I'm going to add my words of thanks and praises here. I've been trying to get this manouvre down for months and just couldn't. I've been doing your excercises the last two or three days and I've made enormous progress. Great instructions!!!! Thanks dude!!
i love this! this weave seemed so impossible to an amateur like me but with video im so ready to go at it. you are a great inspiration Nick, keep doin what you are doin because you're certainly making this world a happier place :)
Well..What can I say. THANKS A LOT NICK:) Since of bought my first pair fo Poi last month, that I've been seing all of your tutorials, you're great, thanks for being my inspiration. I one month I'am almost doing all that you consider the basics:)For me isolations are the hardest:) Keep on the good work:)
Thanks! The way you break the move down step by step makes it easy to learn. Just learned it today, after smashing my lamp and smacking my face several times (using fire poys with the chains) but it was worth it.
Thank you so much for this Tutorial, Nick... This is awesome... I have been trying to get this trick for a long time and finally got it thanks to your skill in teaching... Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!!
I used this video a while back to learn BTB weave. I then learned the weave in the other direction and can now turn with the BTB weave to reverse the direction and back again. Thanks so much for this great video :)
Been trying this on and off for a while now but never had the patience/time to have a long session until I cracked it. I'm pleased to say I now have, my problem was that I wasn't rotating my body, makes life infinitely easier believe me! Now.. time to practice turning into forward BTBW! Oh what joys to be had, and bruises to be made!
awesome, love the way you break it all down, new to poi, but a total addict now love it all including the bruises lol, what a buzz when I learn a new move...you rock thanks from New Zealand
hey I'm learning the poi, this is the move I'm starting to learn now, you explain it great thank you so much!!! See you in KPG-Thailand next week : ) Leela
OMG OMG!!! NICK!!~i finally got it, on june 6 at 10:53 AM. i must spin with you, let me know if you are ever going to come to cali and go to a rave in the la area, of if you are just going to be in the la area. i will drive as far as it takes to meet you and spin with you! p.s you are my hero and your magical poi powers will be with me forever. p.p.s. all the other moves i know you prety much taught me!
I recommend practicing this somewhere where you can see your own shadow. Makes it a million times easier to iron out whatever problems people may be having.
OMG! This is awesome! I tried learning this move by watching a different video, but your video shows a few more things that I should practice before attempting it fully. Thanks! The turning of the body is an excellent thought!
This video is also INCREDIBLY HELPFUL. :] Thanks for posting it. Now there's more of a way to learn it, rather than my friend saying "DO THIS 8D" and me attempting to copy him. Haha.
Ty teresalopezm! It has actually but very slowly. I had that trouble beginning yoga too. I had to have a lot of help so i just skipped out on the arm exercises. Even the easy ones were hard for me. I will look up and the tube and see if I can find some basic stretching. :D
dangit Nick, this video would've been sooo helpful when I was first learning behind-the-back! rargh! but I definitely agree with Mastress down there. You're a great teacher. I really like the atomic weave tutorial too, btw.
YOU ARE THE BEEEEESSSST !!! it's a fucking awesome feeling when u learn this! the seret is to concentrate very verry much and never give up untill u get it..to me it took abot 2 hours to earn this move..now all i have to do is perfect it cause i`m hiting myself a lot :D NICK, ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR YOUR GREAT TUTORIALS!! i would still be a beginer without you! GREAT JOB!!
I have both three beat weaves and one of the five beat weaves behind my back but could you please do a video on both behind the back five beats so I can learn the other
Does this need to be done with the poi spinning backwards ? I thought I was getting it trying btb the poi going “away” from me, but having trouble having it rotate “towards” me
I tried to go straight to behind the back weave after two and three beat forward and reverse weave. I can do all the steps in the video, just can't put it together, so I gave up midway and tried the five beat. Got it in two days and now...I'm back.
Great tutorial nick!! ive gotten the BTB weave before, but not consistantly. Are you in contact with nathinel everist? he had a "comprehensive poi course" and some other suplementary material to go with it.. personally the only way i figured out how to do this one is by watching both viedos..
haha..didn't notice since this morning that there are two kind of behind the bw, fw and bw.. well.. yesterday i`ve cracked down the bw bbw and now i've just learned the fw bbw (again after ~2h) and contrary than the bw bbw it was harder to get that feeling but much much easyer to perform it.... i`m wondering if is any poi spinners forum..it would be nice to exchange tips with ppl from entire world :D
i"ve understood it already and i actually doing it but my problem is my left hand is kinda clumsy so i star doing it well but after 2 loops i hit myself on the back of my ankles so it makes me stop (kinda frustrating) ... what would help? anyone? (btw my ankles plead for help)
Ahhh! Wow! You're a truely awesome teacher! I loved your video! ~Favorite's, subscribe's, and add's you to Heros list :)~ You're like the buddha of poi :) P.S I loved the clothing! Where do I get some??!
Man this vid is helpful but my prob lies in the fact that i have almost no flexibility in my shoulders. I can bearly clasp my hands and lift my hands off my back. My shoulder muscles are just so strong i didn't practice flexibility when training. Is there any exercises that i can do to help loosen up my sholders Nick?
I've made my poi with tennis balls on chains and doing beginner lessons. It's not a great pleasure when they hit a head. They do not hurt so it can give trauma or bruise. But I think for boys it may be hurtful especially on weaves lessons:-)
I can do hundreds of reps without hitting myself with one poi at a time, on any side and even wrap up like the tutorial with good plane control. When I add the second poi I just keep hitting my shoulders and my ankles....update...three straight hours later, I have literally hit myself thousands of times with the poi and I am no closer to the goal. Has this happened to anyone else? If so how did you overcome it? Just Practice?
i dont understand this.... when i do the three beat wave in the front and i make a mistake, it hits me in the nuts.... when i try to do the three beat wave behind my back, it wraps around and hits me in the nuts. can someone explain this to me?
Not exactly, Poi was the first to be created and glowstringing is a branch off it. The only difference in it would be that you can't grab a poi for a trick, glowstringing you can. There is no reason why someone can't use a sock poi or practice poi. I my self have a pair of practice poi, fire poi and glowsticks. So they all have a purpose. Practice poi well should be self explanatory by its self, glowstringing when I am in the dark, and fire poi when I'm feeling confident, so make a practice poi.
