Now this is all just a memory. May be hard for people to understand. But this place wasn't a bad place to be a kid. The community was very strong. And they tore it down and displaced thousands who had spent their entire lives there for hipsters to have 800k shoebox condos. The gentrification squad now wants to rename the area. Disgusting to see.
@larrygill2223 that is utter nonsense. You're pulling that information out of thin air. Also, you never set foot in Regent Park. You are clueless as to what you are talking about.
@@BOOSETO lol actually I have set foot in regent. I have a very good friend who grew up there amd still lives there. Munro st. In the back alley there. I go there regularly but only during the day as he told me not to come at night. Yes north regent has changed, but south is still bad. Last time I was there he told me “if I’m at a red light and anything happens just run it”. What I said was absolutely true. Also, I didn’t say regent today has the highest murder capita in Canada, I said back in the 90’s it was. Even today, go for a stroll on parliament/Dundas area at night.
@larrygill2223 the whole place is different. That's not even Regent Park anymore. And it wasn't the crime and murder Infested gangland you are imagining. I grew up there. I never once witnessed a shooting ever. 25 years. Only murders I recall were mouse and beny.
I like the ED THE SOCK SHOW! I like P.B. Music. Its nice to have both together in this presentation. We be keepin it real in the City of Steel! DOPEfm 93.3 CFMU. PEACE~
They tore it all down and replaced it with hipster condos. Be happy if you experienced it like me and many others. It was only a dangerous place to outsiders coming in. And with developers tearing it all down and displacing thousands and thousands of people who lived their whole lives there. Its no wonder why.
regent park isnt the first north american housing project. Im not exactly sure which one is, but i know that Ida B. Wells and Cabrini Green (both Chicago) were made in 1940 and 1941. Regent Park is the first Canadian housing project tho
@@rustyray420 Don't know what to tell you man. 12 years later, I'm still arguing with people on this LOL. Ida B. Wells was built from 1939-1941 (during the second world war) to specifically house African Americans migrating to Chicago from the south. Regent park North side was build from 1947-1949 (AFTER the second world war). South side was built in the late 1950's. You can look it up if you dont believe me.
OMFG!!!! I had this taped off Muchmusic and I watched it so many times as a kid. My whole life I would always remember, every time I saw a Brinks Truck, "How the hell did you spot that Brinks Truck?!" XD I'm so happy this is online. This is gold! I'm so sad to read the comment that they tore it down for fucking condos ://
