Car And Foot Chase Scene From One Of The Best Films Of The 90's *DISCLAIMER, I DO NOT OWN THIS FOOTAGE OR ANY RIGHTS TO THE FILM THIS SCENE IS FROM, I AM JUST SHARING IT TO SHOW WHAT AN AWESOME FILM THIS IS.*
This scene is a masterclass in filmmaking, period. The shots, the editing, the use of sound, the stunts, and the actors of course. This is why Kathryn Bigelow has an Oscar in directing.
Uh no they deserve the Oscar not her. She just acquiesces to actor demands. Maybe you should work on a film set with her before you start making assumptions bub
LOVE the sounds (flame-thrower, muscle car, broken glass) poor pittie was just minding his biz in his own backyard, gets picked up and tossed by a nice looking man wearing a tux ..
Nah the disgrace isn’t that they made it. Plenty of classics have been remade and turned out alright. The disgrace is that they remade it and it was not only completely different from the original, but it was just absolute trash.
I wouldn’t even call him a villain- he didn’t do it for malicious reasons. Just the rush and that feeling of being alive. Heck, he gave folks multiple chances at life as opposed to the alternative.
@@maxfrankow1238 I agree. He was actually a pacifist. He didn’t want to hurt anybody. As the story goes on though, he needs to keep upping the rush which is why he tells them to go to the vault at the end.
actually yeah he ultimately kind of was, he got narcissistic towards the end with his attitude and some of the things he said despite the fact that his whole team got killed. But as far as movie villains go he was a Saint compared to others
This film IMO set the tone for Keanu to be a bonafide intense action star he is now. Such an underrated film , but one of my top rated Keanu flicks . R.I.P. Patrick . Patrick playing the villain had to be one of his best roles in his career IMO.
overall I feel swayze takes the starring role and perhaps this is a point when keanu's career starts to become more well-known? It does seem in the beginning keanu is the protagonist and swayze plays the opposing antagonist but then in the end it's not clear. Without the main role of swayze it's not quite the same
@@MitchClement-il6iq I'm proud of the artists and technicians who did their jobs in the making of 1991's Point Break. For instance, Keanu Reeves just explain in detail how did this on Scott Adkins youtube channel as well as its awesome scene and interview. Thanks for the wonderful reminder, Mitch.
The essence of Point Break, the BROMANCE and EMPATHY between the protagonist and antagonist, has been emulated so many times. So many of Keanu-starred movies are seminal: Bill and Ted, Point Break, Speed, The Matrix, John Wick. Keanu is a great and versatile actor. I love his acting style in all genres. He's had several mediocre (but still very watchable) and a few duds - mostly attributable to directing/small budget - but that's alright, as he's made so many memorable movies. Also, a number of his movies are underrated gems.
Lavern Merriweather And a well deserved oscar. The attention to detail is incredible. Great continuity, and in regards to a car chase, this is how its done. They even ran the chevy engine till it just about siezed (from extreme overheating) so that the delco starter straining over was super authentic....that is how they actually sound. Most directors dub in a generic permanent magnet style starter sound (like newer cars) because they know jack shit about cars....and dont care (because most people ALSO know nothing about cars.) It is so nice to see someone make a film that actually gives a shit about little details such as this...and others, like the interior scenes where they ACTUALLY TAKE SHIFTER OUT OF PARK on the greenscreen car buck. Its amazong how many directors forget to do this...and once you notice it, its infuriating to see.

Ahh the melodic moan of a quadrajet :) So refreshing that they had the actual car sounds dubbed in rather than stock footage. Even the chevy starter on the caprice....they actually overheated it and made it sieze....great attention to detail that you simply dont see in most movies.
yeah I hate when movies just lazily dub in car sound effects for old movies like it's impossible to record an actual car for your movie. especially there's this one specific tire squealing noise that so many movies and TV shows have used for about 30 fucking years. go outside and record a car you lazy bastards!
@@jonathanryan2915 ehm, you dont understand do you? The reason why filmes have sound effects instead of atual sounds is because of the noise, and because its really expensive to get it right, and if that scene has music its a pain in the ass.
No it’s the studio being fucking lazy. Have you seen heat? During the bank shootout he used the actual sounds from the blanks they were shooting. Michael Mann Mann is a genius. Collateral is another one where it’s realistic gun fire
Is that how pussy America is? You need to state yall didn't actually kick a dog? Its a fucking dog. But we can film a white girl get fucked by 3 horse cocks and sell it online
There's this great bit where Keanu Reeves has Swayze in his sights, but he loves him sooo much he fires his gun in the air and goes aughhhhh! Have you ever fired your gun in the air and gone aughhh? -Hot Fuzz
I can't tell you how much fun this was to see in the theater as a 20-year-old kid. Imagine a theater full of young Gen-X, "You ain't got shit!" Total mayhem.
Bodey isn't only a armed Bank robber he's also a dangerous arsonists. Goes to show what lengths he would really go to and its disguised by a peaceful, spiritual surfer.
He didn't exactly kick it, He just threw it off of him. & he did not cut himself shaving like Bodhi thought the following day when they picked him up to go ski diving or parachuting. It was from the dog. Like that would've really ended the chase. It didn't😆😆😆
Love this scene it's something you can't duplicate.so many good scenes in this movie it's one of my favorites.imo it's the best bank robbery movie ever.
Back when movies did real stunts, no bullshit green screen and c.g.i. Also a time when the actors were either actually driving or pulled by a camera truck. It's much more exciting to watch knowing stunt drivers and the crew risked their lives to perform real stunts on real city streets. Plus, it's just intense and thrilling to watch rather than seeing computer effects that suck the joy out of it knowing they're not actually doing any of the stunts. Even to this day a lot of green screen or c.g.i. car chases still look fake, it hasn't improved all that much!
I am not a movie person, but I can watch this, without a yawn. From the very first time, I watched it, I have no idea why I watched this movie. But I did. I am still watching it. I still don't know why.
TheDarkHorse90 Yes he could have. The fleeing suspect in this case poses an immediate danger to society. That’s how I interpret the statute. However, you’re right about bystanders. Couldn’t have.
