The Point of Rocks Bridge that crosses the Potomac River to connect US Route 15 from MD to VA is a 1/3 mile camelback truss style bridge. It was built in 1937 and this is actually the 3rd bridge in this location. The first bridge was built in in 1852 and then destroyed by Confederate forces in 1861. The 2nd bridge was built in 1889 and was in use until it was washed away in a flood in early 1936.
