Absolute banger of a fight. Michael Chandler is really underrated, he was incredibly close to winning against both Dustin, Justin and Charles. Talks like a politician, but fights like a gladiator. Such a shame that he`s been put on hold waiting for red pantie night.
nobody forced Chandler to wait for Conor 😂 he could've fought by now if he wanted to.. but Conor is the money fight so he's gonna wait till Conor is ready.. like Conor said on TUF "you'll do what you're told"
@@lebraaHe used to be an arrogant prick for the majority of his Bellator career. Full of himself to another level. It took suffering several losses in a row for him to turn it around. But, people have doubted his change of heart and attitude ever since. They feel his "niceness" is just a P.R. move and a facade. He comes across as "preachy" at times which people also find disingenuous. If you really want to get a better idea, go watch his motivational speech (to other fighters) about turning his life around after suffering those losses. It's about 35 mins and it's called something like "motivational keynote on overcoming failure and adversity".
@jamesdjl4359 i see. I do remember him with a power point presentation somewhere, but i must admit i skipped the speech. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated
@@jamesdjl4359Honestly, I think he does for entertainment. I mean. How else will they make money for us viewers to watch. Like McGregor is the right man for the right job in terms of being the Heel/BadGuy which fits his attitude and in return gets allot of Viewers/money and Pay Per view. But for Chandler he's a cool guy acting as a heel or maybe who knows.
One of the wildest and craziest fights we've ever seen , Dustin showed some real composure when Chandler was playing dirty , and Chandler being the human 50K. This fight transcended one of the greatest events of all time in UFC 281.
Chandler is a great fighter and a kind human being. Never miss his fights or Dustin's For me The Diamond is one of the best lightweights of all time Mcgregor x2 Max x2 Pettis Álvarez Chandler Justin Jim Miller And many more Interim Lightweight Champion
That win was so satisfying considering how dirty Chandler performed in that fight... something like 15-20 straight shots to the back of the head, ridiculous from Chandler
im an OG and Chandler is my fave fighter in the UFC now that Diaz, Hendo and Lawler have retired. If he wasnt the king of winning big early and then losing the fight later, things could be so different in the LW division right now. He has ONLY fought the top of the divison since he got in and was inches away from winning every fight he's lost so far. in an alternate universe, Chandler is undefeated in the UFC with 4 title defenses. I was one of the people saying that the UFC should have brought him in back when they brought in Alvarez, but im thankful we got him in at all. Appreciate Chandler while you can folks, hes been around a long time and whether you like him or not, he will certainly be missed when hes gone.
Dustin should be in everyone's top 5 and Chandler doesn't need to win to be great. I'm a lot more interested in watching the caliber of fight he puts on than watching him win. Chandler is doing what I wish more fighters would do. These championships are fickle and fleeting. A great fight lasts forever.
I was lucky enough to be at MSG for 281 and this fight was freaking epic!! That place was going absolutely nuts!! I was also at 276 at T-Mobile when they went after each other in the stands...lol! 🔥💥💯
@@livingstone8347 You never know buddy!! They're supposed to be coming to Ireland in 2024 and that's pretty close to Scotland isn't it?? You'll make it to one some day hopefully!
Dustin was only originally rocked in that first round because of that headbutt at 2:05. What a fight fr though, shame we don't see these dudes in the cage more often
Chandler is an absolute animal, I remember thinking Chandler had this fight in the bag watching this live when the fight started but Dustin is just so tough and calculated!
I feel like chandler could have beat poirier and gaethje if he had been a little smarter, and less gung ho. Wasting energy lifting people up and what not.
Chandler is a great fighter and is always entertaining but unfortunately he comes up short in these big fights.. I don't think the Conor fight will be any different
Interesting take. This is the only one I feel could go well for him. I know allot depends on allot happening. We're definitely gonna see, I think the fight absolutely happens. Can't wait either way
@@floatinggoose9197 It can if he fights smart but Chandler doesnt. The reason this fight is much closer for Conor is because for the first time in a long time he can go in there and just solely box to have a chance to win. He cant do that against these other guys. And if this fight is standing, I favor Conor because hes the better striker and good at slipping. Chandler has the power but his boxing is sloppy which is why he should wrestle!
I remember me and my pals were heavily hyped for this fight and for me I don't usually put bets on fights but this one I felt like I had too and I actually won! I got £1275 from a £20 bet, not too bad if I can say so. However what I don't like about the build up to fights is the fake antagonistic arguments with the fake back-and-forth between fighters. I know it seems like a strange thing to pick up on but it's something that always sticks out to me, like for example just start watching the video from 4:04 to 5:58 and you tell me if you think that is a legit "fighting talk" or real aggression. I know they have to do it to boost their profiles and to gain more viewers for the fight but it feels tacky and unnecessary lol.
Such an awesome fight. A key example of why it's so odd when people look at Chandler's current losing streak but don't watch the fights. He could very well have been 2-0 (although 1-1 is very easily arguable because of Poirier's last 30 seconds) and was winning round 3 until Poirier snatched victory. Fair enough there were some accidental fouls (although he should have had at least one point taken for so, so many repeat back of the head shots, that was ridiculous) but he's a world class fighter and, again, it's weird how people act like he's shit because he's currently 2-3.
He's a good fighter, definitely earned his spot to fight dudes like Dustin and Gaethje but he's levels below them. Obviously very explosive but he does gets pieced up quite often and loses fights cause of his mediocre fight IQ. He should be fighting down the rankings now, the new crop of young up and coming LWs are very legit but he's ducking them to fight a washed Conor. Extremely fun fighter and a good guy but not elite or top 5 calibre imo.
"accidental" fouls. 2 headbutts fish hooking, eye poking, blowing blood into the eyes of his opponent, 10+ shots to the back of the head. The headbutts were maybe the only accidental fouls.
@@nyteowl8069 Chandler has low fight IQ but that's still a HUGE maybe. Poirier literally reversed him and choked him out to end the fight. Explain how if he did grappling first and foremost he'd win? Oliveira is even better on the ground than Poirier too. Chandler is just low fight IQ and you can't fix that if he's already 36 and STILL fights stupid. But he is not some guaranteed victory even IF he focused on grappling.
@@gsimon123 Because everyone knows what hes trying to do in the early rounds. Dont you think that helps his opponents? Nobody knows what Charles is going to do. He can choke you out or KO because hes that good on the feet. I understand hes old which is OP's point.
Chandler was actually being dirty with the fingers in mouth and blowing his nose in dustins face to make him let go. that aside though it's undeniable he makes every fight he steps into a toss up and makes it excting
What a weird beef....poirier whos a genuine good man whos charitable to the t.......chandler whos adopted children and loves them as his own....two guys from the same cloth. Yet they dont get on.....,..weird
Chandler has always come across as fake to me..I cant really put my finger on it but it just seems like he always says what he thinks ppl want to hear. Its all just cliche after cliche.
Chael Sonnen took the UFC belt to a candlelit dinner, hoping to spark a romantic connection. They enjoyed a delightful meal. Swept away by the allure of the night, Sonnen escorted the championship belt to its home. At the doorstep, eager for a romantic finale and with a twinkle in his eyes, he mustered the courage to ask for a kiss. However, the belt, playing hard to get, hit Chael with a firm, "Let's just be friends." Adding to the complexity, the drunk and coked-up Jon Jones entered the scene, and the belt seemed more than willing to let Jon demonstrate his submission skills, allowing him inside the house. Despite being friendzoned by the UFC belt, Sonnen pleaded for entrance and the chance to watch. The belt, feeling a bit compassionate, allowed Chael to sit on a chair, quietly observing from the sidelines. So there Chael sat, in the corner of the bedroom, a hopeful spectator in his own romantic saga, watching Jon Jones smoothly submit the belt repeatedly. In an unexpected turn of events, Francis Ngannou and Anderson Silva joined the octagonal love affair. The UFC belt, feeling generous, invited them to showcase their ground-and-pound. After three intense, sweat-drenched hours, Chael Sonnen, still sitting in his spectator chair, couldn't resist his hopeful daydreams. He envisioned himself cleaning up the octagonal aftermath, realizing, with a salty taste in his mouth, this was the only way he could come close to the UFC belt.
@@arvinquazi788 Almost died to a guy on roids and still survived. If Chandler fought smart he would’ve beat Dustin he has to fight down and it’s only one name that’s waiting for him 🫣
