Ivy was the absolute embodiment of perfection… She was one of the most incredible guitarists (in my top 3 favorite punk guitarists with East Bay Ray and Mike Ness), with one of the most unique sounds/styles ever.. She had such a killer personality with an amazingly offbeat sense of humor.. She wasn’t just technically skilled with a guitar, she was an extremely accomplished songwriter.. And finally, she was ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! Even into the 00’s, she was still so beautiful.. She had that “take no crap truck stop diner waitress that would tear you to shreds” look, face, and hair (part mean, part sleazy, all beauty), with gorgeous eyes that could cut right thru you. She was the total package - - I fell in love the moment I saw her standing, looking down, with those form fitting slacks and leather jacket, on the inner sleeve of Songs the Lord Taught Us…
Killer signature sneer & mad guitar skills. This is the best version ever of Peter Gunn Theme. Long live Poison Ivy, Queen of Psychobilly. RIP Lux--there'll never be another.
You just gotta love the Cramps. Ivy is probably one of the most influential musicians I know of. Her tone is one of a kind and easily distinguished among others. Love this.
I agree partly, but you said probably, so great ;) The Cramps are a one-and-all ripp-off and molestation of the rockabilly Genre. There are tons of influential artists there, Elvis being the last, probably, yet the no.1
@@AReallyLongAndUnremakableUser I never said they are rockabilly, but they made a lot of covers and stole a lot of riffs, and so they were influenced by it. I do not know Hawaiian love songs or the song 'in the ghetto'. Psychedelic psychobilly is what they are, and they are the best (oh, you're talking about Elvis, I know, not really rockabilly... that was a joke really)
@@dEFT07Itd i was joking too! Love the cramps! (30 years a fan!) Elvis..... King of rock n roll.... LOL!!!! As a singer, entertainer, Most definitely! Watch his last come back concert, And tell me he ain't!
I recently discovered this band I knew they were around but I never bothered to check them out however now I love them now that it's too late poison ivy is freaking awesome
@@patwest1815 Someone on here, said they liked Devo's version better, and I didn't know that Emerson Lake and Palmer did one too. I'll have to take a listen.
Ivy's timing... & the "spare" sound that creates a ton of rock 'n' roll tension - her genius imo. When I hear that Cramps are called "psychobilly" I'm like, that's a category of one - no other band I know gets it the way she did with the Cramps. And I've heard a looot of muzik
@@flyingmerkel6 I know, right? I can't count the number of times I saw their Halloween shows, either at the Fillmore or Warfield. 20-minute versions of Surfin' Bird. Bikini Girls with Machine Guns. "And many more," as they say.
Ivy and Lux are the coolest rock stars ever!!!! RIP Lux. I got to share a NYE bill with them at The Channel in Boston and they where the nicest people.
Takes me back , my father had a green gretch with that bigsby tail piece , he loved playing it thru his reverb . But , this girl knows her stuff ! That's the way it should be played ! And by a Beautiful Woman too . Doesn't get any better !
i was lucky enough to catch the Cramps at the Ritz in NYC. Poison Ivy has always been one of my favorite guitar player. Lux was all time as a front man. Rock on Ivy.
That part when she's wearing the red bra is a killer moment! That zoom and the glance ... Wow! Now I understand the poison ivy nickname. Awesome! What a sound!
Thanks, I’ve loved the Cramps for over 40 years. Don’t remember seeing this video. I thought I’d seen them all. Poison is one of my all time favorite guitarists!! She’s also the sexiest! 😊
I thought I was the only one that thought that. I couldnt tell if they were trying to sync it or not. It looked like they were, but not a very good job.
Poison Ivy I was widowed this year. Wherever your journey takes you just know that a million friends you will never meet hold you in the just respect you deserve as one of the greats. I know some paths i will never travel again. I wasnt meant to. New roads ahead.
@@acbenepe Point taken well - and yes, Ivy wins - but that said, Lemmy was one of the few bass players who was also a lead guitarist with it, witness his work with Hawkwind (Born To Go, anyone?) and yes, Motorhead.
Little Poison Ivy, little red riding hood.. your GREAT!! but.. here we cry for Lux, the misterious Lux Interior. R.i.P. Eweryway you stay now.. Lux we love you!!
