I was too busy before leaving town to get the system installed in the truck, so while it was still out I decided I would do another waterproofing video.

Great stuff Harley. One thing you didn't cover is how you waterproof your servos?
@HarleyDesignsInc

Robb, I run Futaba servos and most all of them come waterproof from the factory.

I know you said you were using the dielectric grease for the sensor wire but I didn't see you treating it. Any trick to that?

How often do you need to reapply the corrosionX? Or is it just a set it and forget it thing?

Harley you did not put anyting in the sensor port on the esc before diping in corosionx. will that cause a problem?
@HarleyDesignsInc
@HarleyDesignsInc 9 лет назад
Dean Cory No, nothing needed. The CX is an oil base and doesn't effect the plug.

why RTV sealant choosen over using plastic tape?
@GreenZoneRangers

can you use PTFE wd40 or plasti dip instead of corrosion x
@HarleyDesignsInc

Those are very different solutions, there are other methods of waterproofing but they will not be used the same way that I outlined here.

That's a good question Sig.., I would think that it may be a one time application, but lets keep an eye out for Harley to give us a heads up on that question, plus I was interested on just the cure time on the corrosion X, and should we let the first dip set before dipping it again..? Peace guys...

Hi i dipped the whole motor in the corrosion x is that ok?
@HarleyDesignsInc
@HarleyDesignsInc 6 лет назад
+Henry Gonzalez you mean the whole thing assembled? No, I don’t think that will get the job done. The sensor board is critical and needs proper coating. You will risk destroying your motor by just dipping it.

But what i was trying to ask is would it work with either of the two

+WthrsJr plasti dip works great on esc's and servos but NOT brushless motors.

Again, for those watching this after 2018, there's also Conformal Coating... Great on PC Boards, just put a good amount of Dielectric Grease in the sensor Port, and on BOTH sides of the Bearing! Unless you can remove the Bearing without much fuss. I've also been using RTV Silicone on ESCs and Receivers for many years, without incident!! 👍👍 I personally use Permatex Ultra Black, because of my experience with it as an Auto Technician for 37 years. The best isn't a requirement... Just don't buy crap! 😉

Has this waterproof process ever failed on you?
@HarleyDesignsInc
@HarleyDesignsInc 8 лет назад
+RCDude 786 It hasn't failed me but I don't run water all the time. I don't like to give waterproofing advice generally, this is just what I do for my own trucks.

Can you be specific on how you are using the dielectric grease on the sensor port/cable? Are you plugging in the sensor cable then applying the grease on the outside or are you applying the grease to the cable/port (metal contacts and all) then plugging the senor cable in? Thanks for you help.

Has the fan on the esc ever break when running it in water?

+Barry Lizama in muddy conditions they will stop working sometimes. They are easy to replace if needed.
