Komaru Naegi and after they die their Pokemon will remain without a trainer, lonely and sad, or stuck in the pc box, unknown to the fact their trainer has died, happily waiting for the next time to come out and battle....
This cover is such a fine example of not only the glory of Gen 4 music but also of phenomenal use of texture and dynamic contrast in arrangement itself. The instrumentation of the intro using only lower-register voices created such a distinct, unique timbre (something I’ve found you are very adept at with each of your covers). And appropriately, the intro was specifically leading into something, with the contrast provided by the swelling brass chorus. The two sides of this contrast compliment each other so incredibly well, it’s insane (in the rain). Overall, the piece feels so distinctly coherent in its overall theme, as many people are likening it to a pleasant mix of a ‘relaxing countryside’ and a ‘bustling city’. Of course, that element is already imbedded in the composition of the original track, but this arrangement flawlessly captures and taps into that essence in such a special, nostalgic way! I’ll look forward to adding this to my playlist and listening to it again in the future! 👏
Hands down the best cover of the best city theme in all of Pokemon. Gen5 may be my favorite, but nothing screams "nostalgia" like Eterna City does. Now, if you don't mind I'll be crying myself to sleep with this on repeat
I think Eterna City's theme is one of the most underrated tracks in Sinnoh. This arrangement was absolutely fantastic, Carlos. Thanks for doing the Year of Sinnoh and shedding light on how incredible the 4th generation's soundtrack is.
There's something just super magical about Sinnoh music. I feel that same sentiment just goes for a lot of tracks across the different Pokémon generations, but it really feels like some of the best of the best was jam packed into the Gen 4 games. In my humble opinion, anyways. Great cover as always!
This was fantastic, I don't even know how to describe it any more. That high F# was really something and your Bari Sax playing is amazing, you really have a great tone. The beginning where it was just the Bari Sax, Bass Clarinet, and Upright Bass was truly one of my favorite parts in this cover to show that "bass" instruments can sound just as lovely and smooth as the others. Well done!! :D
Thanks! I really like my bari tone haha, I think my tone sounds best on the low woodwinds! And yes, I really wanted to write for a unique combination of low instruments in the intro :)
Bruh, Nintendo now has 3 sick versions of this song by you to choose from for their remake, Ichinose got it easy :P Also, amazing job! You never cease to amaze, Carlos! Can't wait for the album!
You and your music are one of the few things today that can take me away from all the chaos in the world and school and just be happy. Thank you so much for what you do. You are truly so talented and I love and appreciate all you do! Keep it up! I’ll always be here to support you!
Thank you sooo much Yeester! I really appreciate hearing that! I do my best to create my own little world and story with each of these arrangements in the hopes that someone else can experience the world in the same way that I did for the duration of the song... :)
I relate to this comment so much it’s not even funny... Tysm Carlos for making such amazing covers and never failing to amaze me with your pure skill and talent in both arranging and playing!
I again can't thank you enough for creating this masterpiece. I used this for my college audition since I'm a bari sax player and I am now attending that college. The whole vibe of the piece is amazing and the solo is so well formatted and created. Thank you for being an amazing introduction for me into the jazz world, I wouldn't be the musician I am without you.
The Eterna theme always gave me "sheriff lazily strolling through an old Western town on his horse" vibes. How you managed to adapt it here is just incredible. Now it sounds like the music that would play when you're sniffing the fresh air on the balcony of a classy hotel while looking down into the big lit city beneath a sliver moon. Pretty great ambience, love how you're flaunting that saxophone too.
Just got to Eterna City - finally replaying Pokémon Platinum after several several years. I grew up with Platinum so it holds a very special place in my heart.
I’ve been struggling with suppressed anxiety for years now, and handling it a little better in recent years with therapy and medication. Listened to this song on some new headphones gifted from a friend. The surge of nostalgia and brassy beauty that washed over triggered what I thought was a panic attack because I started crying, until I realized I was smiling. I don’t know what it is about this track or that part of the game, but for the first time ever, I cried tears of joy. Thank you.
4:50 giving me some mysterious ancient dialga statue vibes. also the fact you can play notes that high is mind boggling. i think this is the best sinnoh piece so far
Holy Quack. Can we just talk about the drop at 3:22? It's like, all the D/P/PT story, all fights, the team you've had, and experience you've earned in your playthrough, just jumps through your brain in a second and want's you to fight again! Goosebumps included.
Whenever I listened to Eterna City I always pictured myself going back to the town when I was super old and remembering my childhood playing diamond. Such a nostalgia inducing song, and a great job on the cover!
Hi Carlos, just a quick tip from a trumpetist here: Try to keep the top and bottom edges of your mouthpiece off your lips (so called "playing in the red"). The lip tissue isn't really up to the task of putting pressure for a long time, yet the parts around your lips are. There are many videos online talking about this if you want to learn more (just look up "playing in the red", I recommend Charlie Porters videos, they are top-notch!).
Thank you! I am working very hard on fixing my embouchure haha, I have noticed that I have that tendency, so I am working on figuring out how to set my embouchure so I don't play in the red. I actually have an online lesson booked with Charlie Porter next week (watched tonssss of his vids) to help sort that out! Thanks for helping confirm my self-diagnosis!
@@insaneintherainmusic No problem! You definitely play quite well already, I started when I was around 5 so that's of course a totally different situation but as someone who has helped quite a lot of people who started later I can very surely say that you are on a very nice path, wishing you good luck!
you hit the nail on the head with the "old dude sitting in a rocking chair" description, that was always what I thought of when I heard this track as a kid
The last time I ever got to see my grandmother, this was the song that shuffled on when I was on my way there. She always lived in her small quiet town out in the middle of nowhere and lived a simple kind life. This song now to me is a sorta reminder of her simple way, and of the nostalgia I'll always have of going up to visit her on holidays. She might not have been someone extraordinary, but she was special to me. Thanks for the music Carlos, every time I hear this track it's like we just said goodbye.
One of my favorite Sinnoh songs. I accessed my secret base from Eterna City, just below one of the bikes at the bike shop. I used to sit there and listen to the music. Thank you for all these amazing renditions.
Never listened to a track that made me cry in the first few seconds before, nostalgia is really a son of a gun sometimes but I never expected this song to be it. It’s a really good track by all means, I absolutely love it and am reminded of when I was smacked in the face while playing Y and hearing that familiar Jubilife theme stripped of its sax and played so wonderfully. Keep up the amazing work my guy, me and many others can’t get enough of your well written arrangements and remixes!
its rare when i get the opportunity to say this, but this cover makes me feel like im alive, and i am grateful to live so that i can listen to this. fantastic job!
Hard to word why I love this. Its so relaxing but energizing at the same time. Kinda gives the feeling that you went through hard stuff but its over now and you can rest. Tomorrow will have its own worries but for now, rest up.
Thanks for the amazing birthday gift! Eterna city is one of my favorites and sinnoh holds a very special place in my heart, so the whole year of sinnoh is an even bigger gift.
I was stalking your channel just this morning, wishing you had an Eterna City jazz cover. Several hours later I find this in my recommended. You're the best!
The lead up from the Trumpets at 3:23 and everything following it made me drop my phone and just listen in amazement What a wonderful cover/arrangement
Eterna City will always be one of my favorite cities in Pokémon. With the gym, the legend statue, the galactic base, Oak, and especially the music it’s so memorable to me. This arrangement is really calming and hits me with a storm of nostalgia.
Dude this music hit so hard I started tearing up at the bass clarinet intro 😭 Carlos, you've done Gen 4 justice. I often boast about how you influenced me as a saxophonist to explore other sonic avenues and become more of a principle player in every ensemble I'm in. While I may be going on a whole new musical journey from where I was when I first found your music, I'm happy that your arrangements still make me feel the same way they did when I first found them. Keep on jamming out, man. Oh, and Ronnie Cuber's got nothing on you. 🎷
Man I still remember being excited about precipitation dropping all those years ago. And Eterna City (along with National Park maybe) was always my favorite track. Never thought I'd get this much nostalgia for a cover of a song that gave me nostalgia, but man does nostalgia-ception feel good. Keep up the great work man.
Usually I’m not the hugest fan of the Eterna/Celestic music, but you made it so chill and relaxing! Always love listening to your work while on my computer either doing homework or writing! Your Eterna Forest theme is still my favorite, love listening to it while driving!
"The town that ties the past to now." ... Man this is amazing, Eterna city theme always had a special place in my heart, my all time favourite. These simple times that you talk about in the description, this feeling of reminiscing, this piece of music really does it for me. You did an amazing job, thank you so much :)
That first bari solo hits so hard every time -- my favorite of the year of Sinnoh and my fav song in the games. coming back at least weekly to this even a year later. What a great arrangement.
