I long hesitated to do whether The Gym From Ruby and Sapphire or The Final Battle against Steven in my next video. Since I did the same with Red before, I decided to do Steven too. The Gym Leader from Ruby and Sapphire got different team than Emerald and the battle are also epic. It will be posted later today. Sorry for the delay. Enjoy this one!

Also both are previous champions and have given their title of champion over to someone of lower rank whether it's Wallace who was the 8th gym leader or Lance who was the 4th elite 4 member.

Doesn’t electric resist steel though? I can see Claydol being tough to deal with, but it can’t be that bad, especially since you can take down Skarmory easily.

I love that the rival song plays in this final fight. It was always my favourite battle theme of gen 3. This was also the hardest fight in gen 3. I used a Sceptile, Ludicolo, Gardevoir, Skarmory, Tentacruel and Sandslash. My Gardevoir had shadowball for Metagross but it was too strong and kept killing her so I had to wall it out with the Skarmory. I stalled for so long that Metagross started using struggle and died of recoil XD. Also I was stupidly under levelled which would explain a lot.

I used to think Shadow ball was special in Gen 3, but it isn't! Now I use Gardevoir with Flash, Psychic, Thunderbolt and Thief and it works better

@@Lazer_Specter Yes, that's why I got to train a Banette just so I wouldn't suffer with the psychic twins and Phoebe. PD: Poor Gengar couldn't use effectively the Ghost type moves until Gen 4.

The former Champion of Hoenn, now with a team 20 levels higher than his Ruby/Sapphire iterations. This is exactly the kind of final battle this game needs, though I would have preferred they used the Champion battle theme for this because this is the true test of skill. You, the current Champion VS the former Champion.

Steven has a pretty cool team, but yours is cool as well. When I played the games my teams always had dragons and those who have some draconians traits. I never exploited the type advantage.

My 1st Hoenn game ever. My team: 1.) Sceptile (victory against Armaldo) 2.) Breloom (victory against both Aggron and Cradily) 3.) Flygon (victory against Claydol) 4.) Salamence (victory against Metagross) 5.) Gardevoir (victory against Skarmory) 6.) Walrein (I just used it because of the Waterfall)

The team I used to beat Steven was also the team I used to beat Wallace which were: Swampert Gardevoir Breloom Crobat Manectric Absol I prefer steven as the champion than wallace but i had to respect their music since emerald was the first game i played so it has a special place in my heart and it also started my love for pokemon 😄

I like to think they chose to use the rival theme because Steven sees the player as an equal when it comes to pokémon battles and considers him to be a true rival at his level.

for the emerald battle they should have modified his pokemons moveset like replace aggrons dragon claw with Aeriel ace for coverage against fighting and thunder with thunder punch because aggron is a physical attacker and give claydol ice beam and metagross ice punch

@steel.9714 nah remember there was no physical and special split in gens 1-3, so even if thunder punch was physical move, the damage will be based on special attack stat of that pokemon.

@@steel.9714I remember Hitmonchan back in Pokemon Fire Red when he had Ice/Thunder/Fire Punch moves I was gonna keep those movesets until when I used it for battle a pokemon's type disadvantage it wasn't that enough because of how bad Hitmonchan's special attack are.
