Set battle style No healing items More than 10 levels lower than opponent No starter Relies on strategy And rival name d*ck This is what is called a true pokemon battle video
Brilliant strategist. He used endure twice and was able to have his Heracross survive a hyper beam AND a Hydro pump. Also, using Rock Tomb to reduce Alakazams speed so that Heracross can one shot it. Finally notice he never used any healing items or revives the entire time despite the team being under leveled in comparison to the rival. True gold right here people.
I sincerely hope you’re joking. Guy hasn’t got a clue, he could have taken Alakazam out with Heracross right away as the type advantage was there, instead he decides to kill off his Kingdra and Dugtrio for no reason whatsoever. Not to mention that the fact that his team is horrible to begin with.
I thought it was silly that he switched out his Heracross against the Alakazam and ended up getting a few of his Pokemon swept because of it, but other than that he had really good plays.
nah he sucked DICK, its not a battle like that because your opponent is Blue and he's easy. The drama, stress, anxiety, intensity and the thrilling of victory shouldn't occur when facing Blue but instead facing Red or Steven those are worthy opponents unlike Blue
That was fun to watch, not that many people actually put them selves at a disadvantage against the CPU, the fight actually felt like a final battle between two equals and was pretty tense, especially with how slow the hp bars go down in this game.
You know, seeing this as an adult, it really hits me how emotionally abusive professor Oak was to his grandson. Gary did really well. Sure, he had a short reign as a champion, but he defeated the Elite Four. It's an incredible accomplishment and any decent parental figure would be proud. Instead, his grandfather strolls in, invalidates him AGAIN (after forgetting his name, favoring you etc for the entirety of the game) and praises only you. Supposedly Gary lost because he didn't love his pokemon, but we never actually saw that. He's the second strongest in the region, so if a bond between a trainer and their Pokemon is so important for strength, Gary must have amazing bonds with his Pokemon. He was never shown to mistreat them. Imagine your parents at graduation saying they're disappointed in you because the neighbor's kid made better grades. Now multiply that by a million. This is what Gary must have felt like here. It's easy to dislike Gary because of his arrogance to you, but the way he's treated by his grandfather is messed up.
Very true bro. Video games always wanna make you (the player) feel like the center of the universe. But I always kinda felt bad for Gary and respected him as a rival
Let's check every Pokémon's performance in this battle: Scizor: defeated Heracross Kabutops: defeated Arcanine Heracross: defeated Tyranitar, Alakazam, Venusaur and almost defeated Gyarados (it's God itself) Kingdra: was defeated by Alakazam without even attacking Dugtrio: lowered Alakazam's speed Manectric: defeated Gyarados
One of the few genuinely entertaining matches on RU-vid; Most battles against blue are just a series of massive level and type advantages wiping out his Pokemon (I.e. What five year olds do!)
@@imafreakize totally I am partial to johto I love heracross, tyranitar, scizor, espeon, kingdra, lanturn, eg. It sucks we never got an official johto remake for gen 2 and had to use rom hacks like shiny gold and liquid crystal which is ridiculous. Gen 3 is the best and it’s absurd we couldn’t get an official gen 2 remake we had kanto, hoenn and orre in gen 3 but no johto officially.
Fun Fact: Endure + Reversal is indeed an actual viable set, most especially in Generation 3, Its usually combined with Liechi or Salac Berry depending on whether the pokemon needs speed or firepower.
People are judging him badly yet i find this kinda great as he's playing fair, no healing items with a severe disadvantage, he still survives the struggle and actually doesn't play shift mode for a pushover play. Imagine this in the anime, except there's no bullshit or anything cr*p, i just feel like it's the amidst of the battles in the games and in the anime, where they don't switch out even on a disadvantage. This feels like the real fair and fun play pokemon should've had, not just switching out allowing yourself to get the upper hand and one-shotting every single pokemon you come across. And it's not even the gen 6/7 games where pokemon amie is a thing (where happiness come into free focus sashes and free critical hits) that's just extreme bullshit. This, this is just magnificent strategically fair play.
Yup this is why I think Pokemon's battle system still holds up. It's actually a really good system but the problem is the games balance so much in the player's favor to the point where it becomes very easy.
haha yeah, that shows how skilled he is.. if he only have had lvl 100 pkmn this would not be a challenge, but he had pkmn under leveled and he still won without the use of items or switching pkmn during the battle, that shows great skills
You’re a real man. Using the set batting setting instead of shift for more of a challenge, your sets are also p good. I know this is 11 years late lol.
Looking back, you can see how fucking NUTS it was to have a team like this at the time, especially now when link cables, copies of these games, and GBAs are to come by...for cheap, anyway. Seriously, Kingdra? Scizor? Manectric? This guy went all out, and I respect it. Edit: I FORGOT HIS MANECTRIC WAS A SHINY. AGAIN, THIS GUY WENT *NUTS.*
The hatred i had for blue when i was a kid is kinda scary! Oh and... Class of 1998 (i was 4 years old and my brother got me the hook up) Blastoise- Posiden (lvl 88) Gengar- Nightmare (lvl 86) Hitmochan- Mittens (lvl 82) Exeggutor- Pineapple (lvl 84) Arcanine- Tody (lvl 84) Dragonite- Eddy (lvl 75)
I think its good that someone has uploaded a video which plays out how Elite Four and champion battles usually go the first time you do them. Instead of a easy sweep by Pokemon which are much higher levelled than the opposition.
i dont know if you guys figured this out, but i think he switched heracross out when alakazam came in because he knew alakazam was faster and would KO the heracross with psychic before she could hit it with megahorn, thats why dugtrio came in to use rock tomb. And as for dugtrio not using earthquake, thats because earthquake wouldnt be enough to KO it (yes i know alakazam has very poor physical defense but look at the level difference, its high enough to survive one earthquake).
actually its a good idea to use rock tomb on alakazam just to lower the speed and finish it with a megahorn, and maybe in these battles, you arent allowed to switch out
read the post you replied to....playin on set doesnt let him switch out between pokemon no point switchin to give foe a free hit when they're 10 lvl+ above ur own guys......and rock tomb lowers speed against alakazam, he was thinking of wat he can do with a spd drop in future....EQ would not have killed it neways, use ur brain. =)
After so many failed attempts of nuzlocking radical red now watching Pokémon videos like these are seen in a whole new perspective. Once arcanine came out, he should have switched to quad resist kingdra and harshly lowered their sp attack. As for the alakazam the ai will not go for psychic unless it knows it can two shot you. Throw in resist scizor and have your rival go for either reflect or calm mind. Toss choice scarf heracross out and megahorn. Venusaur was done best he could have without the luck of crits. Very good play with endure on gyarados hyper beam. Though, they should have switched manetric out during the recharge and would have one shot with even a base power of 60 shock wave albeit they had an even stronger move. All in all, great video and battle for a non-nuzlocke. Doubt they’d care even if it were since it being the last canon fight in the game.
The first final boss i've ever faced on the first pokemon game i ever had which was the first handheld game i owned, on the first system that was entirely mine. Help me someone, i'm overflowed with nostalgia!
Nice battle but there are three small issues: 1. Kingdra fainted for nothing. 2. Your are lucky to have faster dugtrio 60 level than 73 level alakazam 3. if the rock tomb (4:11) / megahorn (4:43) moves missed you have been lost 100%
Kingdra was sacrificed so Dugtrio could switch in without having to take a hit. Dugtrio could then lower Alakazam's speed so that Heracross could outspeed it. Actually a really good strategy when you think about it.
1. kingdra faintet to save heracros cuz his heracros is more stronger vs kingdra 2. npc trainer have random natyre and they aren't trained in evs , dugtrio is jolly 252 speed evs so is not lucky is smart 3. yeah if they will miss he will lose , this make the game more beautyful !!! :D :D
