I flew to New York City for Pokémon GO Fest, and it was an absolute blast! Even though there was sweltering heat during the event, it did not stop me from going after Necrozma as well as some rare Shiny Pokémon. This video shows how the day went!

Pokémon Go is a 2016 augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed and published by Niantic in collaboration with The Pokémon Company for iOS and Android devices. Pokémon Go was released to mixed reviews; critics praised the concept, but criticized technical problems. It was one of the most used and profitable mobile apps in 2016, having been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide by the end of the year. It is credited with popularizing location-based and AR technology, promoting physical activity, and helping local businesses grow due to increased foot traffic. However, it attracted controversy for contributing to accidents and creating public nuisances. Various governments expressed concerns about security, and some countries regulate its use. By early 2019, the game had over a billion global downloads, grossing over $3 billion in revenue. The game also had over 147 million monthly active users as of May 2018.

100% these in person events are quite costly but hopefully global won't be a bust. Wish they had the foresight to allow more remote raids for these weekends buy at least i get 5 I guess

Id love if they took all the location data they are selling and for global gofest turn the most frequented 2 areas of a mile in size in every 50 mile radius across the country and boost them like they do for in person. Youd draw the community together and actually boost the experience beyond those who shell out thousands of dollars to travel for it. They say they want to get us out and playing in person but seems to come with the caveut of $$$

Yeah, there was a heat wave in NYC. We had the afternoon park experience on Saturday and we bailed around 5:30. There were a couple of people in my group that were suffering from heat exhaustion. Overall it was a really fun experience though.

I'Milky is one of the best spots in NYC, totally agree there! However, for someone who created the history of Go Fest videos, I am stunned at how you didn't know about the Unown spawns. Especially, it was the same as last year. In comparison, though the Chicago Go Fest decor seem better than either NYC Go Fest. While Seattle Go Fest was easier to walk around because it was a smaller area so you can camp at the habitats a lot easier. NYC City play is way better than Seattle's though.

I was there Sunday morning and had a blast. Only complaint I had was that I was trying to hunt mainly in the Ghostly woods and the seaside locations and they only had a one way between them. I know they were trying to cut down on traffic through these small areas but you had to go all the way around to get between the North and South sections. Other than this, it was a blast! Super hot and sticky weekend in NYC lol

Thx for showcasing the park itself & even the route leading up to it. Really gives people that couldn't attend a proper feel of the actual experience. A refreshing change of format compared to most Utubers.

Glad you enjoyed the festival. Why didn’t they set up water points for the people to cool off and rehydrate? This is often done during foot races but I feel with the temperature and humidity it would have been nice to have during this event.

11:23 I wouldn't say the shiny rates are high for raids. Between me and 3 others we didn't get 1 shiny Necrozma from roughly 20 raids each (so 80 chances total). I don't know how we were so unlucky. I honestly didn't believe the shiny was out. Glad you got a shiny though.

Oh my they have done Unowns on the hour for two minutes for a few years now. Don’t know why you didn’t know that. You must have missed them. They are something I truly prepare for and walk real fast to see as many as possible. Also the trick of finding a shiny just before the hour then wait til it changes to an Unown and yep it will be shiny

Yeah also the top two minutes of each hour is Unown spawns only! Best way to hunt shiny letters by leaving shinies you see if it’s close to the hour then catch them when they turn!

Since you're a PGO content creator, I would expect you knew about the 2-minute Unown spawns at a GO Fest (in-person or global) event. I was kind of shocked that you didn't know about this.

I didn't read the details of the Event. I wanted to go in relatively spoiler free. That's why my coverage of the event was small. It led to really nice surprises.

“Too bad it’s bad IV’s, but that don’t matter !” Yes it does. I honestly ignore the shiny’s I have if the IV’s are trash. Even rare shiny’s don’t encourage me to drop stardust on them if the %’s are bad 😂

I'm glad you had fun. With that said, now the game seems only fun at the large in person events in cities. How many have the circumstances to actually go. Also, the FOMO that Niantic tries to generate for these is wearing out. And with that, many seem less interested in watching content creators covering them. Sorry buddy. It's true.

I don't disagree with you. It's a privilege that a majority of people won't get to enjoy going to GO Fest. Hopefully Global is good so that players can get some good experience.

I will not get excited about the Go Fest Global cos every year I caught less than 10 shinies. Worst, no shiny unown at all. I don’t know where went wrong. I did purchased the ticket every year alamak.
