Not gonna lie, I REALLY like Kanto set of Gym Leaders, particularly in Gens 4 and 5. First, I love getting to see old gym leaders with Pokémon that you wouldn’t see them using otherwise, and most of them work for them. Brock with Rampardos, Misty with Milotic, Surge with Manectric, Erika with Roserade, Sabrina with Gallade, Janine with Toxicroak, Blaine with Camerupt, and Blue with Tyranitar are all nice additions that make sense. Plus, it’s nice to see some of their teammates (some their aces) reach their final forms, like Rhyperior, Tangrowth, Magmortar, and Electivire. The fact that some of them even start with their ace (Misty starts with Starmie, Surge starts with Raichu) just goes to show they aren’t screwing around. Lastly for this long comment, I will say that the designs for the Kanto Leaders in Gen 4-5 are honestly so great. The gym music from HGSS is an incredible remix in the theme you guys have heard all these years, and all of this is coming from someone who didn’t even exist for the first generation, so you can hold off your “oh he’s a Gen Wunner, sick him” comments

When I got to Kanto, first thing I did was go to Pal Park and migrate my OG team from Leaf Green, Charizard/Raichu/Victreebell/Lapras/Snorlax/Primeape, and use them to take on all the Kanto Gym Leaders. If I was going to journey through this region again, I wanted to go through it with them again.
This upbeat music plus the health bar going down so slowly (compared to the newest games at least) made those battles really exciting! You never knew if the attack would kill the enemy until the last second. I really loved that. I vividly remember my fight against Cynthia in Platinum...well, her Garachomp was my downfall.
Weirdly my downfall was her Mioltic because it refused to die and was too bulky for my team at the time :/ I always led off with my Infernapw as a kid, didn’t know about her Mioltic. Then her Garchomp. I got literally two crits that killed it.
@@superemojigameronalt1792 Oh really? But yes, her Milotic was my second downfall lol It was tough as hell to defeat it. Anf if I were lucky enough to get past it there always was her Garachomp. But almost all her pokemon were tough to begin with. At least if you were as underleveled as I was. Because I just couldn't get above those high levels. And if was on par with Cynthia's pkmn, it was pure coincidence if I beat her Garachomp. I was so happy when I finally beat it.
You just brute force defeated that Garchomp yet she still has that defensive invested Milotic that you need to defeat with your weak badly trained team
Hypothetically if you were designing the kanto gym leaders teams which pokemon from newer generations would you add to thier teams (Try not to use the same pokemon to much)
How is Blue the only one who has at least level 70 pokemon of all Kanto gym leaders? I know he used to be the Champion until Red took over, but does he have to be almost as strong as Red? I mean, geez. I have to go hard on him without training my pc pokemon.
Its definitely about tactics and decision making. I agree with you about his choice of moves and types being very awkward. I was thinking this same thing.. However, brute strength isn't the only way to win battles.
List of events regarding Kanto and Johto (regarding characters): Red and Blue: Red, and his rival, Blue, train to be the very best, like no one ever was. Blue beat Lorelei, Bruno, Agatha, and Lance of the Elite Four and presumably became the region's first Champion until he lost to Red. Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee: While Red disappeared from the public eye, it was the turn for Elaine/Chase, and Trace to follow in Red and Blue's footsteps. It is in these games where Koga plans to resign from his position as Gym Leader to become one of the Elite Four. It is also in these games where Giovanni disbands Team Rocket and leaves his position as Gym Leader Vacant as well, with Blue taking care of the Viridian Gym from then on. Heart Gold and Soul Silver: Former Gym Leader Koga is now known as Koga of the Elite Four. Lance somehow became Champion of the Indigo League. Lorelei and Agatha's whereabouts are unknown, Bruno still serves as one of the Elite Four together with Will, Koga, and Karen. Red is seen training in Mount Silver, and his team is at its strongest.
Remembered reading the PokeSpe manga where Lt. Surge, Koga, and Sabrina were part of Team Rocket. Edit: I first rematched them at like 54-56 or something then I rematched Blue Then I was surprised bylvl 67-72 Pokémon. He's more of a damned Champ than Lance due to diversity.
At the start while fighting brock you made a mistake since until gen 5 sturdy would only negate ohko moves like fissure or sheer cold so sturdy was almost useless in gen 3 and 4
2:13 , relicanth base stat total(perfect or beneficial nature) in speed would never outcome a Dragonite's unless you did ridiculous training. Why'd you use Dragon Dance(+Attack +Speed) with Thunder, Remember it was a generation where physical special split corrected. So Thunder(Spl. Attack) isn't boosted by Dragon Dance in any way. my comment be late but I had to suggest nonetheless subscribing you.
My dude it’s irritating watching how you use your Pokémon to use attacks that are not effective against others. Make it simple and use a super effective move.
You had an easy shot at taking down Victreebel quickly with Espeon. Yet you waste your time on Espeon's defensive moves instead of just hitting it with Psychic? Dumb-ass move. You deserved to lose your Espeon for that alone. You are awful. Sir, you are _awful_ at strategic and tactics.
