The uploader left it out, but they do eventually get his name right. In one of Stephan's last few episodes, the wish he made at 2:26 (in this video) comes true and they start pronouncing his name right. Although, for some reason, the wish makes them forget that they ever said his name wrong in the first place.

As hilarious as this is, I do genuinely love Stephan as a trainer. He was a good rival for ash with his own strategy. He preferred overpowering his enemies with brute force, whereas Ash typically prefers to outspeed his enemies such as with pikachu’s quick attack.

Hey Butch, you're not the only one who has a name issue. Stephan, on the other hand, has a similar story. They just mostly pronounce his name wrong (STE-phan, instead of Ste-PHAN) unlike Butch, who they mostly call him other names like Biff, Bob, Bill, etc. Their reactions are different, too. When Butch's name gets said wrong, he mostly reacts strongly to the one who said his name wrong while Stephan mostly reacts more calmly compared to Butch.
It would be pretty funny if during dawn's return she met stephan and actually got his name right. He would be elated that a cute girl didn't mispronounce it.

In the beginning when people started pronouncing his name wrong he was mildly annoyed. But soon he fell into a deep dark depression about how you say his name, eventually when he won the tournament, he was so fed up that he yelled at the officials in a fit of rage. At the end when the narrator says his name wrong, Stephans rage shatters the fourth wall to yell at the narrator. No one has heard from Stoovin ever si- Stephan: *has his Sawk beat me up*
Honestly, I can relate when my 6th pe teacher didn't pronounce my name close to right lol so then everyone in class called me wrong too. It pissed me off so I can feel Stephan's pain
Aight, it's time i tell you about this. So, while I was in Kanto, being a background character of some sort, when they got back, they told me about how that was all unscripted and they just wanted to piss off Stephen. Man, I feel sorry for Shawn.
