Cynthia's theme makes me think that my character is being slowly pulled in by Milotic while Garchomp sharpens his claws while Lucario is Playing the Piano and Cynthia is just smiling menacingly

Unpopular Opinion: Iris's Theme is one of the most personality filled themes out there. The song embodies the fact that she's the youngest ever champion. It constantly switches between the heavier guitar riffs of her taking her job seriously, battling for both the honour and pride of being the Champion of Unova. But she's still a kid. She loves Pokemon. She loves battling. And that really comes through with the "Rainbow Road"-esque parts. She's there both as one of the strongest Trainers in the whole region. But also because she can have fun. Honestly, it's probably a POV that's easier to spot when you work with children all day (I'm a teacher by trade), but hearing the constant switches between work and play makes me so joyful and in my opinion, makes this one of the most powerful themes. TL;DR Iris's theme is fucking cool.

Steven’s theme will always have a special place in my heart. I remember first playing Soul Silver then receiving a used copy of Ruby through my older sister. I didn’t know how to delete saved files so I kept playing through with a Blaziken named Grimes. I remember losing before I got to Steven and feeling so frustrated. Hearing his theme almost felt like a “you did it!” for me. Ofc I won because of the training I went through with my team being: Blaziken, Altaria (Kazai,) Mightyena (Poochy,) Gardevoir (Broccoli,) Aggron (Henry,) and Groudon. Great memories were made :)

I love the way gen 8 incorporates the crowd into the song. Something about having an audience makes it feel all the more important.

The music, for each champion perfectly describes the battle and its feels. Blue is a rival, but theres so much more to the rivalry with the title of champion on the line. Red and lance are somewhat legends, and straight up menacing. Steven and Wallace's theme feel like a champion battle, a finale. Cynthia's theme is (death) a frantic fight, where one mistake could cost you (death by garchomp) the match. There's something like a desperate struggle to win. Alder is like, you finally made it, victory is right there, in your grasp, but not just yet. Iris is hard to explain. It feels like a race on rainbow road Mario kart wii. On steroids. I mean, she's dressed like a princess, with what sounds to be a girlish intro, but then the theme continues and she kills you. You are completely unprepared for this. Diantha's theme is nice, but due to how easy she is, it feels kind of underwhelming (despite being really good). This is YOUR theme. A kind of celebration. There's references to old gens in it, (intro) and feels like you're being congratulated. It feels very satisfying. The similarities with sun moon, and hau's regular theme makes it feel like an achievement still, but with hau; this also invigorates a (much needed) sense of rivalry with hau, like, whose theme is it? Who will be champion? The mingling of the themes contrast friendship and rivalry. He's the undefeated champion, and this is the final battle. The hall of fame gives a feel of victory, but whose? This is the end of your journey, but leon is as confident as you are... the inclusion of the crowd makes everything much more powerful. That's my take on it anyway. Of course, anyone can interpret these as they want, since pokemon is about the journey, unique to every player. Also, stealth rock demolishes Leon's fight. (Thecnically, lance's too, but there wasn't stealth rock back then)

Diantha and Iris’ themes are SO UNDERRATED

I love how Hau's theme is not like the other champion themes, this one is like "Wait, you're not a trainer I should be afraid of, you are my friend!" and the whole theme is reflecting a friendly battle. So wholesome.

For me Steven's theme hits hard because emerald was the first ever pokemon game i played.

Blue's theme has always been the most interesting to me as a musician. It doesn't keep a uniform motif throughout, and seems to change musical character every few seconds, making it rather eclectic sounding. I thought this was a good representation of Blue's own character and battle, being someone who has gone through all the varied experiences the player themself has, and come up with a varied, eclectic team with multiple facets personalities, just like the music.

Each theme is a banger, game freak just never misses when it comes to soundtracks

I literally never even played S/M or US/UM but the final battle theme for S/M being YOUR theme is just the coolest and I think it may even be my favorite because this is the first time in any of the games where you were the one in the position of power.

I love the S/M champion theme, it feels right and feels like your adventure has been leading to this moment.

Gen 1-4 themes are epic, tense themes. Gen 5 onwards personally feel like congratulations themes, like you’ve already won, which takes away from the tension that you should have fighting a final champion.

I've just realized that the scariest themes to both Pokémon and Legend of Zelda players are pianos... (Approaching Cynthia and Spotted by a Guardian respectively)

Blue and Cynthia's themes do really nail the theme of "yeah, it's time I put you in your place, trainer", and even Steven/Wallace does that fast-paced, urgent "you've come this far, no turning back now" to build up the hype and pump you up for the match. But if you ask me, Kukui and Leon's themes hit me with more of a Champion Battle vibe than the others do. Just the fact that everything evokes a true feeling of being in the triumphant final stretch of a competitive circuit or tournament, especially Leon's battle where it's actually in front of a massively hyped up audience.

Man, Leon's theme really struck a chord with me. It sounds so optimistic, upbeat and triumphant. Pokeom battles are treated like sports in Galar, so i think it's perfectly fitting. The crowds chant also chills me to the bone

So I recently had to start taking ear drops to help heal my ear after a procedure. Basically, I have to have a cotton ball in my ear for a while, so now I can only listen with one earbud. Now I can really appreciate how they use multiple sound channels between ears to make a back and forth effect between them. I can really appreciate the effort they put into these themes.

I think my favorite champion battle is the one I had against Prof. Kukui in Sun. I just happened to get up early and start playing. By the time I got to Kukui, the sun was rising in the backdrop and it just made everything perfect. Very symbolic.

Iris’ theme was unironically the perfect ending to the limited 3D era.

40:06 whenever I hear this song I tear up. 2016 was so rough to me that I tried to end myself. Luckily it didn't happened. My best friend told my jokingly that I had to keep living to play the game. Beating it felt like beating my problems. Leaving all in the past. Such a powerful moment. I was saved by a game (Not to discredit all my loved ones who were there for me).

He was fun, kind and a great professor, it was quite surprising to see him at Title Defense, but perhaps it was a test; A test to see how much you have grown. Don't keep him waiting, go on and prove to him that you deserve to wear the crown. Hau- Your rival, the one whom you had clashed with over and over throughout your journey, as you grow stronger, he grew stronger with you too. It now comes down to this. The roles have been reversed, now you are the champion defending your title from your rival. Do not make the same mistake like a certain Kanto champion did. You are Alola's first champion, show Hau that your reign will not end now. Leon- The unbeatable champion, the one who started yours and Hop's journey. He gave you your starter and the endorsement needed to partake in the Gym Challenge. He was like you, a trainer who has gone on a journey and became the champion. He is Raihan's rival, the Star of Galar, an inspiration to many young trainers and he was there for you in a way no other champion was, making you feel like you were never alone, even when you have to save the world. I love the first 4 gens champion themes and remakes, but the original game boy tunes for Blue and Lance are just hard-core intimidating. They legit sound so much more epic to me than any other themes. Blue's OG champion theme is my favorite song from these games followed by Lusamine, Guzma, and Cyrus themes.

iris, Cynthia's themes, and Steven's ORAS theme are some of the best in my opinion

Kanto and Johto have this godly feel to them, Blue (Green)'s theme being more chaotic and Lance/Red's being more cold but still menacing. Hoenn and Sinnoh themes are extremely fast, and you can feel the pressure they're giving because of it, after all they're the biggest challenges you ever faced (in the region) until that moment. You need to overcome these 2 walls in front of you. Unova themes stop sounding so challenging, but more as something of a retrospective of how strong you've gotten on your adventure, this is more noticeable on Alden's theme, as his theme ressembles Cyrus theme but more happier, while the Iris one still reminds you you still have to defeat her after all. Diantha's just putting a show of her own honestly And then Alola and Galar themes simply say "you did it you son of a bitch"
