steven is my favorite champion just because of how he's just a guy who likes rocks who just happens to have a pretty crazy team and (except in emerald) be the champion
@@dashingclasheryeah Steven is my favorite champion. I respect Cynthia cuz she's like a post game player and she is solid, and Leon is an awesome guy that is genuinely an amazing person and it's impossible to not love him. But Steven. He isn't "special", he is a steel type specialist, he loves rocks (so do I), and he wanders around doing shit he likes. Oh and he's strong AF
"Why am I so under leveled?" I feel like it's a recurring issue in Ants runs but it always seems like he avoids trainer fights and too readily suicides his team and they don't get XP from that. But it does make him the even bigger underdog and that makes it more exciting
Whenever I fight trainers (usually the gym leaders) and a Pokémon I want to level dies, I always try to go for a revive while using a higher leveled Pokémon to take the hit. It’s good to try to at least keep them alive if you have xp share, because grinding wild Pokémon battles takes forever for farming xp. If Ant weren’t so lax about faints, he wouldn’t have been so underleveled for all of these gym fights and would’ve had an easier time
@Conquest no chat only said no items in battle items outside of battle were never excluded (unless something saying that in the vod was cut out of the video)
I'm guessing that Spinda kept using Teeter Dance because the game still thinks you have 2 pokemon out, and so it registers it as 1 pokemon on your field that isn't confused yet.
Similarly to why some Pokémon kept using ground moves when there was only a flying type on the field… whatever that “empty” slot is, apparently the game doesn’t see it as being immune to ground
Well, 90% of the trainers in Gen 5 only run one Pokemon, and another 9% only have two. There's only a small handful of trainers that actually have three Pokemon, and only half a dozen who have more than three.
Yeah I feel like Tentacruel and Crobat occupy a similar space where people are so annoyed by constantly seeing tentacool/zubat in water/caves that they don’t give them the time of day bc they’re so common and seen as a nuisance, so they get underestimated when they are actually very strong mons
Yeah, Tentacruel occupies something of a similar role to Crobat. They're both weirdly good evolved forms of really common Pokémon. At the end of the day, being rare is meaningless.
Did you know that in Gen 3 if you press start in a double battle you can swap between the HP bar and the actual HP numbers so you don't have to go into the Pokémon list to check their HP 😁
@I ah, yes, the twitch gentlemen, the working class, the adults. Yes. Definetely not children using the prime subscription from their family amazon account
These challenges are always great to watch. Seeing Ant’s strategizing in full effect, beating difficult battles while handicapping himself further is peak content.
"he doesn't have any dark moves but now he looks cool." also, i'm really curious about that second glitch pokemon you've got there. it took damage from spread moves (magnitude, perish), was able to affect enemy ai (claydol earthquaking skarm and spinda spamming teeter), and could be selected by random target moves (assist). yet it only seems to be an issue sometimes - i wonder if atsign could talk about that bc i think it'd be really cool
The best challenge runner on the internet. Change my mind Ant: already doing a crazy challenge Ant: why don't I give chat the opportunity to make my life harder Ant: "should we be able to use items in battle" Ant: "alright, we will not be using items in battle"
Smant. The quick claw destiny bond could have still worked even though they left banana alive, because you can then use a move that’s guaranteed to go last, keeping the previous destiny bond active through another attack
I think the real reason for this change is so that the opponents spread moves only target smallant, and not the invisible level 0 pokemon beside him. Just a limitation of the mod I suppose.
@I **Snotty Nerd Sniff** Um, ackshually, it's Pokémon, not pokemon. **Snotty Nerd Sniff CD** And also, the plural of Pokémon is **Snotty Nerd Sniff 2** still just Pokémon. **Snotty Nerd Sniff 3 & Knuckles**
@@bookswithbek2702 sorry, i assumed you were trying to be funny/satirical because otherwise your comment would add literally nothing to this thread. but i guess for some reason that was your goal, in which case you succeeded
@@frostyclouded Eh, it's understandable, the only reason I used the snotty nerd sniffs was to already satirize myself so nobody could call me a nerd without being redundant, while also being a grammar/spelling nazi.
How about a run where you basically play as an NPC? The game randomly selects an NPC for you to control in battles. Or even better, you can only use Pokemon that a specific NPC would... like Bug Catcher... or Mountaineer
Technically no, it is not like having an NPC trainer partner that "spams healing moves at full HP". If that was the case, any opponent that uses a move like Surf on him would always deal half damage. This is a specific mechanic that was added with the implementation of Double Battles / Multi-Battles in Gen 3, though this damage reduction won't apply to moves like Earthquake (likely to make such moves a bit less desirable, as you may end up KOing your own side with a full power attack). This was changed in Gen 4, where any move that can hit multiple targets, regardless of if it can hit your ally or not, does 25% less damage if it targets more than one Pokemon (thus, applying to moves like Earthquake). Also, moves like Outrage would occasionally "do nothing", as it would target the useless partner instead of him. Edit: Actually, seeing as they for some reason changed Surf to not be spread. Maybe that spread comment is worth ignoring, as I imagine they did similarly with all of them. Edit2: Never mind. I guess they actually did make it so you have an invisible partner that just does nothing. Otherwise Magnitude and Perish Song wouldn't occasionally shatter reality.
ok, I've seen it too many times to reasonably call it anything else, Tanner really can just will crits into being by his word alone. Godspeed, you goddamn wizard.
I really liked this challenge Also i would like smallant to have more pokemon challenges without items and legandaries. It adds an extra bit if difficulty which i personally like ...
I get home from work, sit down with my dinner, pop the YT open and BAM *_Pokemon Emerald but every battle is extremely unfair_* 1 min ago... had a whack day and this turned it right around : )
36:04 Random Amazing Doubles Leads, Double Team Shiftry, Extrasensory clears out Fighting Types. Sand Attack, Intimidate Mightyena. You cant touch this gimmicky duo.
Normally I see your videos and think "Wow that's a neat concept, I'd probably never put myself through that, but cool!" But in this case, I actually wanna play this lol, is the ROM gonna be released per chance?
Smallant has the perfect amount of game knowledge for these types of challenges. He knows tons and tons and tons about the games mechanics but doesn't go into the super sweaty metagaming stuff the hardcore nuzlocke community does. It's a nice balance and I like it
Can someone explain to me why Perish Song crashed the game one time but didn't the other times please? Did Atsign come up and fixed the game between the 2 tries?
Really happy with how this challenge turned out, forcing you to build a full team without it being outright impossible beyond some insane minmaxing like others. Challenging without being too unfair (with the added bonus of an awesome party)!
Can you imagine small ant reaching out to you to make a Pokémon mod? On the one hand it’s an honor. But on the other, what impossible crap is he doing this time…
Sheesh, SmallAnt really had to grind for this challenge. He left no trainers unbattled. He couldn’t be underlevelled for this at all. Never seen him do that before.
Usually I don’t watch your videos(even though I’m subscribed) because they don’t really show up on my home page, but the ones that I’ve seen I’ve really enjoyed
His nonexistent partner has a speed of 0 so all other Pokémon on the field died first, and since the nonexistent Pokémon didn’t get die the game didn’t crash
@@mythicalterapin9674 Except it did crash the first time (so the speed theory seems incorrect as it outsped something that time somehow, or speed is irrelevant), while second time it seemed to not even be targeted.
Why are there never more than one part on these, i love them but i only come here every year for like one day to binge it all and then wait until it fills up again^^
