It's not always motives that make an iconic character as iconic as they are. There is more to a character than what they want out of life, a well written driving force in the hands of a poorly executed antagonist is as good as a polished turd. The idea may be great but without a worthy vessel to carry it out, it will go nowhere. In the case of Cyrus, his overall plan to destroy the world/universe in order to reshape it into one of his own liking is nothing new. There are plenty of villains driven by the same goal, albeit slight variations here and there of course. However, it's the character of Cyrus that makes him my personal favorite. Giovanni, Archie, Maxie, and all the other antagonists are all engaging and great in their own fashion (Excluding Lysandre, I know too little about his character to judge) but when it comes down to raw potential for character development, Cyrus takes the top. By no means am I saying that Cyrus is the best villain ever written, not by a long shot. At first glance, he's the average sociopathic monster driven by his bent desires. But upon reflection into human nature, you begin to see that Cyrus may have much deeper meaning behind his actions than you may have thought. Once you take a deeper look into his vulnerabilities you can begin to see that the monstrous Cyrus of Team Galactic is really just a scared and confused man who yearns for a life where he can live without the complexities of a world controlled by emotion. In short, Cyrus's tainted mentality is, at its core, a result of a poor upbringing that could have been easily prevented with proper treatment. He was never shown true compassion, he never got to learn the importance of companionship. Cyrus never got to be a kid. His desperate attempts to meet the expectations of his parents took over his life. Cyrus was never able to form bonds with his peers, his asocial personality only worsened as time went on. Years of neglect and isolation scarred his developing psyche, basic human decency was rarely shown to him. It was because of this conditioning at a young age that concepts such as love, passion, and joy never manifested in Cyrus's mind, causing him to develop an apathetic disdain towards life. Cyrus believed that human emotion was the cause his suffering, it scared him. His sociopathic tendencies only worsened as he aged, becoming more and more prevalent in his overall character. As adulthood closed in, Cyrus's twisted desire for a universe in his vision became an obsession that he would go to any lengths to fulfill. His compassion was replaced by logic; he had no guilt, no comprehension of sacrifice; every action was just another task necessary to achieve his dream, the consequences of his actions were meaningless. Cyrus's butchered comprehension of the human will to survive only made the actions of the protagonist all the more nonsensical and aggravating. Despite knowing the cost of making his world a reality, Cyrus did not hesitate to manipulate his own team into working for his personal gain with the false promise of safety from his genocidal power fantasy; the value of human life was meaningless to Cyrus as he lacked the basic understanding of the human nature. To him, a life lost was another step towards a brighter future for humanity. Does the misfortunate upbringing of Cyrus justify his actions? Is his lack of compassion an excuse for his behavior? It's a difficult question to answer, from our perspective we may see a heartless monster bent on eradicating everything we hold dear. From his perspective, for all we know he may believe everything he does is a heroic act for the better of humanity, he may want a world where he can be understood by like minded individuals, or perhaps he understands the gravity of his actions yet cannot help himself. It's impossible to read the minds of fictional characters, however the fact that it can provoke an entire conversation based around morals proves that it was a masterfully written character nonetheless.
Cyrus sent out Gyrados! Empoleon. Cyrus sent out Crobat! Empoleon. Cyrus sent out Weavi-- Empoleon. Cyrus sent-- Empoleon. Empoleon for president 2016.
Spelonberry Smith They get a little old after a while. I also can't stand constant dubstep either. I think it ruins the remix. This right here is more epic and battle-themed. Other people could do this too, but they're too focused on the dubstep/how cool it sounds. It literally ruins the entire song. I still do like remixers like ElectricMudkip though.
Lance James Franco would be perfect, I've seen him in underground projects doing well with serious roles. He could pull it off plus he looks like Cyrus!
With this music, someone *HAS TO* animate the spear pillars battle between the hero and Cyrus, when Time and Space are collapsing into a new universe. A fight to the end of the world.
This. This made me float on a sea of stars. When I heard the first notes.. I froze. I couldn't move. The music had taken over my body. This is just absolutely amazing. Edit: THE DRUMS. THE DRUMS ARE STILL IN HERE. I FREAKING LOVE THIS. The drums were what gave me the chills when I first heard his theme when battling him in front of Dialga. Actually, they still give me the chills.
"I desire a truly perfect world. One devoid of soul and emotion. I will rid the world of the shackles of pain and feeling. Do not attempt to stop me. I WILL accomplish my goal, even if I must put a mere child in their place. I will win this fight."
This song brings nostalgic memories back. Back in the D/P/Pl days, I was a 8 yr old with an urge to be the best. when I got to Spear Pillar and fought one of the Galactic admins. After beating her, My eyes widened as Cyrus summoned Dialga, the Lord of time, right before me. Then, as if he saw me as a threat to his plan, challenged me to one of the hardest battle I have encountered (I had a Horrific team, to make it worse.) Once I heard Cyrus's Theme start, I knew I needed to pray to Arceus if I wanted to stop him. And now, as I have aged quite a bit, I just realized that, during the entire battle, Dialga/Palkia were watching us. The only reason it stayed was to test us after we proved our prowess. I remember those days fondly, and it was those days I learned to love Pokemon
not gonna lie this is probably my favorite remix of not only this song but just about any pokemon song in general. cyrus was one of my favorite villians ever and this song is perfect, i just wish it was longer
This feels like it would be played after Cyrus returned from the Distortion World just in time to save Sinnoh from a greater calamity. This is of course going off of Pokemon Generations where it was left hanging on what his fate was.
0.O im a person who adores Orchestra and when i listen to this... u just.. amazed me! for someone who has this many subs, and views deserves more. i like to imagine what story could be behind this song, and 2 things popped up, of course a battle against Cyrus and the other, something that is dramatic in space, weather is be crashing or even a dogfight it works with it. you have a lot of potential and to see more will be amazing ^.^ hope to see more from you in the future ^.^
This theme is the kind of theme that is used in famous superhero movies where the scene just gives you shivers but the bgm will scare you shitless. I love this theme.
These cinematic epic orchestral remixes are amazing. May I ask you revisit Red's theme? I really think you could give that theme the epicness it deserves.
I am sorry for posting this more than a year late... THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! I used this for the final boss in the Pokemon Tabletop United campaign. The characters fought the tyrant himself and finished the job. And the tone of the battle couldnt have been more intense with this orchestration. You have my utmost respect and adoration. Even to this day I hear this and get chills remembering the struggle I gave my players for the wannabe ruler of time and space. Thank you
use of instruments is PERFECT. only thing I want is for it to be tied closer to the original theme; more crushing and opressing. spacial background atmosphere is again a perfect addition.
This is truly magnificent. This express the greatness of a genius, a charismatic leader, a man who dedicated his whole life to elevate himself as a god with the purpose of changing the reality in the way he wanted to be and finally stop to feel so unsatisfied from it. Cyrus for me will always be not only the best boss in the pokemon series but one of the best villains ever.
I used to listen to this theme everyday in the fourth grade and now I'm revisiting it in the most epic way possible you did a more than awesome job on this thanks !
Wow... It's amazing! So epic! I can't stop listening to this over and over again. Perfect job. Keep going! P.S. Yeah, finally an image where Cyrus looks like he's really 27 years old, not 37 or so!
I am hoping we get a DPP remake either teaser or announcement and get to hear a theme as good as your version in the direct tomorow and that I'm not just psyching myself up to have myself let down lol.
Now all will end. And everything will begin. With this Red Chain I will pry open the portal to another dimension. I command that you unleash all your power for me... Dialga/Palkia the mythical Pokémon and the master of time/space and dimensions! This will bring about the destruction of all things. With everything gone, there will be no fighting and no strife. Can you feel time distorting? I have nothing to lose naive trainer.
Can I like this video a thousand times? This is incredible. I wish you every success in music composition, and hope to one day see your name on the big screen, because you deserve it!
