They either need to delay their games/DLC projects 6 months to a year or increase their staff if they genuinely care about the quality of the games they're churning out
Imo they should split their game into like 3 parts so they can keep pushing new mons for the goodies anime TCG will not having to build a full new world for it every 3 years. Like that we could get a new Gen every 5-6 year with better looking and optimised game will the new mons/moves/quest get released as DLC every 6 months or so
You know that everyone will still complain about the quality. People are just tired of hating something and even in 5 years the game will not become the game of the year
Remember when we have tons of spin offs between main releases? That's what made everything click in the 2D games. Games were not rushed to meet certain timetables for maximum income. Between generations there was a 3 to 4 years gap and in between we had Trozei games, we had Ranger games, Golosseum, Mystery Dungeon and much more with all of them doing their own thing with a high level of quality. Sure there were some outliers but things weren't rushed. Anime had their filler arcs to keep up with the time so it wasn't a competition so everything was on the same page for revenue the same happened with manga and other sources like the card game. So in my opinion outsourcing might not be as effective if they cannot go back to that mentality of older generations. Look at Metroid, people is eagerly wating for Prime 4 but Dread really made people happy with Prime 1 Remaster upping up the bar with the promose of Echoes and Corruption at later dates. 4 is getting the love and time it needs while we as consumers are happy with Dread and the Phazon trilogy in the meantime. Thats what's missing with pokemon nowadays as some IPs are just lost forever. I would love to see a Switch modern day Colosseum like Gale of Darkness or the original, I would love to see a Pokémon ranger modern day interpretation while we wait for the next gen but I guess that's asking to much sadly
They could make an anime based on the manga or mystery dungeon or other spin-offs to fill in the gaps for the anime and they would get different audiences and it would be reusing older content that doesn’t need to relive on the new gimmicks and pokemon
you cappin Pokemon games were ALWAYS rushed. The first two generations were a NIGHTMARE for gamefreak. It's just with today's technical standards for video games it's no longer doable
Pikmin fans waited 10 years for a new game and boy it delivered so hard. Game looks beautiful, gameplay is very polished, and everything about the game is so engaging. Then we got tears of the kingdom which took over 5 after botw and it also delivered just as hard with everything being being just so amazing its hard to describe. Then....well pokemon.....didn't.
If it has to take gamefreak 10 years just to make one decent game they should just pack up and quit now lmao It doesn’t take 10 years to make a game, 5 maybe, but 10? Nah, y’all expecting too much from video games if you think they need 10 years to perfect 😭😭😭 I don’t miss old games bc they were good I just miss old games bc we enjoyed what we got instead of being angry over the dumbest things Pokémon players complain about tbh “No voice acting!! There’s not a billion different animations my Pokémon can do they’re worthless!!” 😭😭 like bro just play the games and catch Pokémon that’s all there is to it If you want to play Zelda, play Zelda 🤷♀️ leave my Pokémon alone
@@wifflewaffle5006 compare HGSS to BDSP and you’ll get why people complain. Hell, even compare ORAS to it. Game Freak stopped giving a shit starting with Let’s Go. Gen 5 was widely criticized when it came out (it’s over 10 years old. That’s old). Rose tinted nostalgia glasses don’t change the past nor do they solve problems
Gamefreak really needs more employees, they have only about half the amount of employees of xenoblade developers monolift soft despite xenoblade being a much nicher franchise compared to pokemon
Apparently GameFreak’s director intentionally likes to have a small team? It doesn’t seem like a viable option when the games are becoming more ambitious with each release
@@waliedsalam2487 Especially when that small team is not that good. If it was a team of absolute gods it wouldn't be as bad, but it's the opposite. I run Pokémon Scarlet on an emulator to try and make it look a bit better but a higher resolution can't fix the pop-in, low framerate animations, low resolution shadows and such.
If they plan on continuing with open worlds, monolithsoft is probably the way to go. The way they can make massive areas still look stunning on the switch is incredible.
I think this is the right thing to do. I think Legends Arceus and SV provide a decent enough base for Game Freak and company to work with and improve upon. Should it be Legend of Zelda level quality? Maybe not (though the amount of money they make they probably could afford to) but it should be a good enough product to make the games look and run well on the switch
Legends Of Zelda quality is quite mediocre compared to From Software devs and anything well produced not from potato Nintendo hardware. I want Pokémon for PC using the power of PC hardware.
Trust me, longtime fan here. Pokémon fans have been sad that game quality has been down since we left the 3DS, and by some accounts, much earlier, with the shift to 3D in Pokémon XY being a big suspect for the drop. We’ll gladly take a slower release schedule for games that don’t suck.
@@megaman37456 Yep, I'd say the first noticeable dip in quality was US/UM, where they are essentially 90% the exact same games as the original S/M but with some differences in the story and a disappointing post game.
actually no. Oras left out all of the emerald post-game content like the battle frontier. X/y were responsible for a lot of mechanic simplification and linearity. Frankly it was the start of pokemon downfall. It was obvious at the time too. Comparing bw2 and bw to xy and Oras is crazy
@@jevonp ORAS had far more content in the post-game than emerald did. All Emerald had was Battle Frontier and Contests. ORAS had that weird ass battle frontier substitute, mirage islands, legendaries from other generations, and entire second storyline, and even entirely new maps. XY was for sure a drop in quality, but ORAS picked it up, only for gen 7 to absolutely fumble it and drop it back down to the ground.
They need to spread out the main series games with spin-off titles in between years. That way, there is Pokemon content and enough time for a new generation to arrive.
Easier said than done tho, spin offs cant advance the franchise like mainline games do. They need the new gens for the anime, tcg and other merch which.. Yea is just money money money but it's the way they've always been working so.. What did change tho is the requirements, expectations and possibilities that games have nowadays and I'm assuming they work a ton on the newer games already leaving them with less staff and resources for spin offs. Not trying to defend them here ofc, just pointing out some problems. These could easily be dealt with if they used all that money to get outside help which it seems like they plan to so let's see what the future holds ^^
I don't think letting a 3rd party company work on a main series Pokemon game is a good idea. Game Freak is capable of making amazing games, just look at Heart Gold and Soul Silver for example. They just need more time and an effort to make sure the game is of expected quality.
@@jaredhamilton425hey atleast they have balls to make last part of BDSP (e4 and champ) challenging with competitive sets (if the rest of early to mid game isnt so much easy, id say its incredible)
Honestly releasing things slower would be so much nicer for some consumers too, I just bought scarlet last week because I haven't had money. The last time I bought a game before that was sword and shield and it feels like you're falling behind in the community and franchise if you're not constantly up with the new games. And personally I don't always want to watch playthroughs and have them spoiled, I want to experience them myself at some point when there's money.
They need multiple studios if they want to continue releasing yearly. Give each studio 4-5 years development and release each year, just under a different studio, but with Gamefreaks/Nintendo’s formula. Year 1 - Studio 1 - Mainline Gen game Year 2 - Studio 2 - Remake game Year 3 - Studio 3 - Let’s Go style game Year 4 - Studio 4 - Legends Style game Year 5? - Studio 5 - Different spin-off game (Ultra beast game???) Year 6 - Studio 1 - Next main gen game This just my thoughts, that way we get a new fresh game every year with a 4-5 year development cycle
To put into perspective though not as comparable since they deal with significantly more power hungry consoles, CoD has three teams and over 3000 employees working or partially working on CoD. Meanwhile Gamefreak has between 140-169 employees. They need to hire more but from what Japanese reviews sites have said the senior management and developers aren't too keen on that front anytime soon.
Spin offs are not made by Game Freak tho, Bandai Namco has worked on two of those (Pokken Tournament and New Pokemon Snap), HAL Laboratory worked on 2 as well (Pokemon Rangers, Pokemon Stadium 2), Spike Chunsoft on Mystery Dungeon,
@@symphonixblades I’m not talking spin-off games, I have a breakdown of the games to be worked on each year in my comment. Main gen game, remake game, let’s go game, legends game, different style game but ultra beast based. That makes 1 game per year from different developers and the games have a 5 year cycle, enough time for polishing a Pokémon game imo
@@coolyeh1017 Monster Hunter also has 2 dev teams that alternate releases. It's the only real way to keep anything close to an annual release schedule for big games like these. The fact that The Pokémon Company hasn't considered this until now is baffling.
GameFreak needs more employees. A lot more. If they hired more people and spent more time, even if it was just 1 more year, they could give a fantastic game
There's a Japanese youtuber that reviews a sort of Japanese version of glass door. Game Freak has problems holding on to talent, it seems their core work force are incompetent and untalented and thus the extra work they create from their failures quickly chases away actually talented people. In all honesty, they need to wipe pretty much everyone except artists and start fresh, making sure in their hiring process that they get plenty of people with experience in coding modern video game experiences that still respect and understand the core of Pokemon.
I rather them take a longer time period to make sure the game is quality ready then multi releases per year. Pokken was amazing and needs an sequel Namco did an fantastic job there are many spin-offs they definitely can do Mystery Dungeon, Colosseum, Pokémon XD, etc
At least for generation 10. They should take some actual time. I know they won’t and it’s sad that the only thing I’ve come to expect over the years is not being able to enter buildings anymore💀
Pokemon needs to team up with Bandai Namco to help with the main line Pokemon Games. Combining Game Freak with Bandai Namco's assistance would make the games amazing
They should just make it an MMO and add content over time when it's tested and ready. Keep the playerbase strong by keeping them together in the same universe and have periodic events and daily, weekly quests in rotation.
They need to increase their staff. I mean by an absurd amount. They only have around 130-150 employees. It should be almost 10x that to fully realize the scope of the games they want to make in the time frame they want to make them in.
hopefully they're going to work more on the games, as others have said, better wait more for a more polished game than having a faster release with the worst bugs ever
Um bring all hands on deck. They need as many developers as possible on the main series. Legends was a step in the right direction. We saw what the series CAN be. Mystery Dungeon, Scarlet and Violet would have hit different if the team put more care into it. Deep in the recesses of its coding, there's an amazing game trying to come out.
I find the fact that it was basically stated that "Scarlet and Violet were heavily criticized for poor graphics, and other things" kinda funny considering, at least where I stand, graphics were one of the last things I've seen used as complaints for that. I largely only hear about the glitches and how broken it can get more than anything.
People complain about level of detail mostly, citing Mesagoza as looking like it's made on N64 graphics when you're not in the city (despite that just being resource saving even if it doesn't look good.) Then the people say it all looks boring and uninspiring, the world is empty, yada yada yada. Imo the glitches are way worse than a single city I don't pay much attention to while playing the game nowadays
I'd like to add Mercury Steam to the list of 3rd party developers Nintendo has used. They made the absolutely amazing Samus Returns, and then followed that up with the greatest grand slam in Metroid history, Metroid Dread.
I can definitely see them slowing down production after Generation 10. I say that knowing they are going to want A Pokémon game released on there 30 year anniversary in 2026
Fans: “Wow. They’re actually listening to us and taking more time to work on the game.” GF: “Nah we’ll probably start working on it 6 months before the release date with an underpaid and understaffed workforce.”
@@Lunapink93 I suppose, but we all know if there's a big announcement for they're 30th they'll likely give is another remake of red and blue, you know cos it all started with kanto.
Calm down man, not even higher quality creaature collecting games like Shin Megami Tensei and Digimon have something like this, and it'sgame freak that we're talking about, they're likely NOT going to do something like this. But if we get a Tears of The Kingdom level of quality game, with decent move animations I'm all in, we're ALL gonna be in, really.
@@Regigigas_YT I said it would be cool, I'm not demanding anything, if they put effort into coding stupid playground gimmicks since the 3ds games then dreaming for richer animations for pokemon creatures would make it way more appealing Making slightly different animations conveying their different natures would make them even more exciting to catch more of them
Pokémon's track record continues to prove money speaks louder than words; they aren't going to slow down, it's just all "talk." Remember, they are stuck in a loop of releasing a game to coincide with the anime. So, unless they can delay both the anime and game production, they are going to continue this loop and release subpar 3d games.
The sad part about this is that they stopped being an individual company long ago. And most, if not all of its employees now work at GF Which is a shame... because I would've loved to see a third Colosseum/XD game. Their animations were always top notch :(
My question is what kind of games could we expect? And Game freak could take advantage of the spin off games to try out new mechanics/features that they may want to put in the next main game.
Honestly they just need to go back to basics. It seems like all they care about now is the graphics. Let me make one thing very clear: "Good" graphics DO NOT = good game, and "bad" graphics DOESN'T mean it's a bad game. I think the peak of Pokémon happened in Gen 6. All the abilities, moves, items & Pokémon were there, it wasn't as hand-holdy like the new ones (example: Handing you the box legendary to use AND also got rid of HMs). I know everyone says gen 6 is too easy, but you had the exp share on. Turn it off and the game suddenly becomes much harder. Gen 6 introduced a new type for us as well, we got 2 starters, it had the best gimmick with Mega Evolution, it had character customization, and the graphics looked fine to me. Honestly, it could of had sprites and I wouldn't care. Sometimes I wish they would go back to using sprites instead of 3D models. Sure people would complain at first, but imagine a new Pokémon game with ZERO glaring issues upon release. And as much as I hate to say it, we need HMs back. Or a key item that can only be used after a certain amount of badges so it doesn't take up a move slot. Pokémon games before had you doing important stuff like making new discoveries and coming across some psychotic team trying to take over the world or whatever and you had to stop them. Nowadays, they have you doing dumb shit like going to school and taking pictures. Lastly, is it just me, or do some of these new Pokemon...not even look like Pokemon? And the names....the puns are so cringy it hurts.
I was kinda hoping/wondering if this would happen. I’ve seen a lot of people talk about how they think black and white, or let’s go pichu and marill games might happen, and considering after black and white gen 6 remakes will be next and will need a lot of improvements, this makes sense
I don't know about this but this is probably a fair trade so not only just The Pokemon Company manage to having more time to making the new generation of the game and researchs but also Pokemon Horizon Anime can able to getting through the entire journey of Liko and Roy at Paldea and Galar region since the latter's worldbuilding was still jot yet fully seen because of Ash decided to traveling the entire previous regions that he visited.
If Pokemon wants to make the biggest game ever they need to follow this plan. First off, instead of coming out with a new region they need to build off of what they have by making an actual multi-region game. If they made a game that even just connected 2-4 regions together that had a new story the success would be unimaginable. Like if they conjoined Kalos and Unova or Kanto and Galar. Even just something small like that would be wildly successful and it would be an amazing switch up for literally every person that has ever played a Pokemon game before
I think they FINALLY reached that point where they realize they cant make a Generation of higher Quality than Scarlet & Violet with and Open World, Fully 3D Graphics, Overworld Pokemon, and multiple paths forward unless they take the time they USED TO TAKE for releases before Pokemon X&Y released. Ill believe it if I NEVER hear a peep about a new Pokemon game for the next 3 years, and God, GOD I hope this rumor is true. No more Pokemon. Let it build hype the organic way. Through a long lasting wait period. I wanna pop like Mario RPG and Bayonetta 3 Fans did when those were announced.
A lot of people didnt like BD/SP and I get why, but I do really think the idea of having Game Freak develop the new games while a 3rd party studio works on the remakes is a really good idea, just need to find a better 3rd party dev than ILCA
They should make more pixel RPGs as well to fill in the time between games, Pokémon’s gone 3D but there’s still a huge market for those types of games that I’m kinda surprised they haven’t taken the route of. They did remake Diamond and Pearl with a new art style that seems almost reminiscent of other creature collectors, and that might have worked had the game not been so faithful to an already flawed game.
Pokémon needs to go back to being Pokémon where it is a Japanese video games series as it was, even with the anime graphics. Time and money should have been spent on fixing the games and have plenty of needed content before release. No paid DLC, and no internet patches. DEI hires and censors should be fired, and have talented people and passionate fans working on the games.
The big problem with Pokemon isn't the DEI Boogeyman it is that its development cycle is unsustainable. They have very few employees for the amount of games they pump out in short timeframes, needing to consider animations, characters, new gimmicks, competitive, the 1000+ Pokemon and alternate forms, abilities, designs, etc. What Gamefreak needs is time and more talent, also to shake off that complacency that is taking hold of the senior devs according to former employees and contractors.
@@coolyeh1017Even then, Japanese fans noticed there is a lot of brown-skinned characters, muscled women, old and fat guys as students, women with flat breasts dressed as men, and no dresses nor skirts for the girl player in SV-as if TPCi are worried about "not being diverse and inclusive enough" as shown on their website. I highly doubt those are caused by the rush because, like the Pokémon models and animations, TPCi would have reused the character models and art style from the past games too.
@@LuigiTheMetal64Pokémon has always been inclusive. Let's not pretend that Jessie and James are not the most bisexual couple you've ever seen in media. 😂
@@LuigiTheMetal64 ??? Pokemon characters literally have had all colors of the rainbow as their hair colors for ages, but brown characters are too much now?
One thing that really annoying me about Scarlett and violet is that the majority of the time you would just be wearing the school I think for the sake of adventuring outside school travelling around the region on the entire area like it's town it's routes and it's open area you should have the option to wear casual clothes when you just a venturing or whatever task you are doing in game I hope this is the implementing in the next game
Honestly, I just want enough time to enjoy SV, they are the most fun I had in pokemon since USUM, if they want to take their time, they can do that and I’ll enjoy SV
I dont think theyre slowing releases imo. I dont mean in a bad way i from my perspective it seemed like they would hire more developers rather than sliw down
I think it is implied they aim to keep the same release cycle but outsource and rely on contractors more (as they are cheaper and don't have as many worker protections in Japan).
If this is true, hopefully that means they're going to devote all their time to making the games as good as they can be, rather than doing a rushed job that continues to disgrace the franchise's reputation.
dude imagine an AI integrated pokemon game in which each trainer or npc has an existence of their own..free will.. and free choices.. you can even talk to people or interact with pokemons using a microphone.. pokemons have AI integrated free will to do things on their own like the real ones in anime
I wouldn't mind them giving a 3rd Party Company a license to make a Main Series Game! Honestly! I wish the Main Series would be handle by some other Companies who knows making 3D Games better! Just look at Pokemon Snap and Pokken Tournament other Spin Off Game on Nintendo Switch! They made the Pokemon Series more lively in their Graphics and with Voice Acting. Also Mobile Spin Offs like Pokemon Masters can bring Pokemon more lively as well! I ssay! Let other Companies handle Gen 10! 😄
The next Pokemon game can easily be made in three years in the hands of a developer that knows what it's doing. They need to stick to an engine and optimize it for the future. That's exactly what they did in the 3DS era.
Last night my game just stuck me at the end of a raid indefinitely after I had turned autosave off to ensure my shiny Eevee became Umbreon, fully EV trained it, leveled 2 mons to 80*, and grinded like 30 steel shards. Raids were supposed to be fixed in MARCH
I'm not gonna lie, I really want to see a Pokemon Ranger spin off game on the switch that has a long & memorable story-line that I can get invested in.
It’s better to slow it down than rush and have tons of glitches. Definitely worth waiting for. And this way you can also save up. With the way new games are priced now it’s hard to buy anything anymore. $60 and up is not right. I remember when games came out you could pay anywhere between $5 to $30 and now it’s double that and more depending on the game. What I really hope is that Pokémon will release all of the previous games for the switch. I would love to play Fire Red, Leaf Green, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, all of the Mystery Dungeon versions, Pokémon Pinball, basically all of the Gameboy Advance that you can’t find anymore.
Yeah, I think Koei worked with Nintendo on Three Houses as well, which would be more of an ideal cooperation. As in, a Pokémon game where a lot of the 3d (I presume) would be worked on by Koei. Though a Pokémon Conquest Warriors would get 100 bucks out of me... no comment.
Perfect opportunity for them to reintroduce the spinoffs(Ranger and Orre) to the newer audiences and for them to go find the people of Genius Sonority and create another 3D small spinoff Project (when compared to the Mainline) that can occupied and give them enough time to put out a good Mainline product.
Koei Tecmo developed Pokémon Conquest, which is one of the better spin offs in my option. It would be great to see them get to make another game in a similar style but on the Nintendo switch.
We need a pokken tournament level graphics and gameplay for the next mainline game, especially if they want to go for the whole open-world genre like scarlet and violet. They need to update the graphics and combat system.
Instead of making new pokémon games with new pokémon that more than half of it being forgotten on next generation, they could just make a new revamp of the main line games, kinda of they did with Pokémon Legends Arceus, but more polished and with better animation (and maybe a semi-real time battle mechanic?)
I'm not too into most of the new Pokemon games on the switch for obvious reasons, so i'm taking the time to go back and play the ones on the DS that I never got to play. Black & White/2 and Ultra Sun/moon. I am very excited for these.
If it takes 5 years between game generation, but, in exchange, the games are actually made right and don't have severe glitches, I would be fine with that.
Honestly they got to slow down gradually to give games we can enjoy until the release of the next one, now with scarlet we can’t wait 5 years, if they give us a Legend series pokemon or a second DLC we could btw
they can make more Legends type games, and SV DLC and BW remakes in the meantime. they should take as many years as they need to put out a quality core series game.
Nah they would need to cut Pokémon to only a few dozens per games to achieve that. Realistically if they want to do the action RPG route the best example to follow for a Monster Collecting game is Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch.
Thank god. I love Pokémon and all but the quality and obviously cut corners are a massive problem. I like them releasing so many games but I definitely prefer good quality not quantity
It's crazy that Game Freak looked at Scarlet/Violet and let it release in the state that it's in. Maybe 3d isn't the way to go. I think a stylized pixelated Pokemon Game would be really cool. Take the most successful elements from every game, and expand on it from there. I.e. Pokemon following behind the player, Mega evolution, Shiny sparkle, pokemon appearing outside of battle, animated pokemon in battle like BW/B2W2...
3D is the way to go, its just open world thats a little too sophisticated for the understaffed Gamefreak team. PLGE is peak game design for GF to just improve and build on… excluding the motion based catching mehanic… now add everything you mentioned besides 2D pixelation and GF would have pokemon highly praised again.
to me at least i would make the production window larger meaning more development time duh but when the game is in beta form and playable to a extent i would fly out some well know people from the community honestly to play test it for quality on a casual player stand point aswell as a adult/competitive player view mainly looking into the mechanics of the game get feedback talk about it with the team and take away knowledge from the experience to further better the game aswell as future projects now while that probably sounds all good in theory making it happen is something different but it would at least to me bring some freshness to the game that it haven't had in a long time depending how you look at the track record 5 years gladly would wait for a game honestly any game i would rather wait for a well developed game even if it does have some bugs every game does in the start then a game made in a year straining the devs company and player base for a lukewarm gaming experience due to time restraints and other unknown factors it doesn't have to look amazing "personally" but has to feel amazing feel enveloped into the story and the world of the game with correct pacing and progression through the game on the story end if you read this thanks but you probably wasted 20 minutes at my poor views on this
I hope that when gen 10 is announced the legendary trio aren’t dragon types. While I’m fine with dragon types in fact they’re one of my favorites alongside ghost steel fire and electric, I think it’s becoming a bit overwhelming with how many there are: the Tao trio, the creation trio, eternetes and the new legendaries being koridon and miridon, I think a better choice would be a ghost and fire, and a dark and ice golem like Pokémon it worked for golett and golurk why not try that
