Pokemon Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution VS ORIGINAL 

If this movie doesn't have the iconic memorable 90's soundtrack, it automatically fails as a remake Im mildly disapointed

So it's basically just a clone copy of the original, just in CGI? I'm going to wait for the reviews before daring to watch it.

Environment looks stunning. Human looks really bad. the worst so far. Pokemon looks somewhat ok.

The Pokemon definitely look great in cgi but the humans....not so much

To be honest, the CGI ruins the looks of the characters (especially Ash).

It's not the fact that it's in 3D that's the issue. Is a remake is even necessary to begin with is my main issue with this film.

How to take away the charm from something:

Brock looks good. That's it.

Ash looks fine but Misty's eyes are too far apart tbh, should've been like a little teeny tiny bit closer.

If only proper credit and pay was given to the animators, 2D animation wouldn't be dying. You think Animation isn't dying? You have no idea how wrong you are. Look at some old retrospective reviews from Saberspark. And do some research on how anime is doing in the industry, though the proof is in the pudding given the content we see every year. Yes there's ups and downs, but there's more downs than up every season. There's honestly no need for a 3D remake of this movie, it's just a poor decision, and alot of those decisions are being made this way. Because 3D art is cheaper and more cost effective. A 3D artist doesn't slave at their desk anywhere near as long as a 2D artist can or had to.

to me the movie just looks like someone playing with pokemon action figures

Those new models with old proportions remind me to that Mewtwo model that was included in Pokedex 3D Pro.

Honestly, I prefer both styles despite their differences. For the original, it's a callback for the "nostalgic" fans and looks remarkable and memorable. For the CGI version, it may not be perfect, but it has a realistic tone to it, and I really like it. I'm not saying the original is trash, because it's not. I'm just saying both of them look fantastic in their own ways. I really hope to see the CGI version as I've seen the traditional version.

The Pokemon look fine, but the people look awful :/

You know I had high hopes for Pokemon I choose You; it failed me. So I don't expect the original voice cast to be back on this one. Who better to play S1 Ash is none other than Veronica Taylor.

I watched it at Anime Expo. Honestly, it's a really great adaptation! Brock looks kinda weird lol but it really doesn't take away from the story. Pikachu's voice actress did an incredible job!!

I love how the remake looks! Don't get me wrong, I like the original, but in my humble opinion, the remake looks fantastic and I can't wait to watch it!

I'm not a fan of this style of CGI but I really can't complain about getting this remake when they really didn't have to make it. The fact that they stayed dangerously faithful to the first movie while remaking it shows that this is a love letter to the fans.

The only thing that's throwing me off is the eyes on the Pokemon. The catchlights on Pikachu's eyes for instance aren't complete circles. I guess they want to go for a bit of realism here but it kind of makes him look dead

I just saw the whole movie at Anime Expo. I can say I like I enjoyed it and yes it’s the same story but what they updated with scenes and what’s said was very enjoyable

new looks shit, an almost uncanney valley appearence on everyone. the sountrack is overwhelming- same music, unleveled volumes.. the english voice actors are semi-decent but dont hold a candle to the original ocean dub. think hyper excited vs happy. neither perfect but 1 is less out of place. no amount of nice backdrops can make up for a lack of character or smooth animation.

Look... I've no problem with them doing a different style of animation, and keeping the same character designs... But in that case, it'd be good if it didn't look bad... The pokemon look fine to great, but the humans?... Decided less so... Idk, maybe it'll look fine in motion, but as is, they look bad. Almost like what you'd expect from an old-school Pixar production.

Well, at the very least I can appreciate that it's one for one just CGI. So my hats off to them. Square could take some notes. Lol. They need to get Dan Green as Mewtwo as well.

This new version fails miserably. The music score is lacking and terrible. Not to mention the delibery of the lines lacks emotion. They even changed some of the lines and ruined them. Just another money-making remake that doesn't do justice to the original movie.

sorry but i find the origninal much beter with more emotion and energy and passion , if they just cleaned the old one up with giving it better special effects and maybe redraw a few things not the howle movie in digital this new one has the lack of attachement and the beauty of the original

I have no hope for this remake, so I'm gonna watch it without any expectation. Right now, the humans look terrible. I prefer the original style of animation. I would have gone for an animation like the Anime Godzilla Trilogy movies that came out not long ago.

The shaders are trash. It looks like claymation. And the human MCs' design make my eyes bleed.
