Bro if Game Freak/ILCA had actually released Platinum remakes with the Arceus event in the Sinjoh Ruins from HGSS ported over, nobody, I mean nobody, would've ever complained.
The Chibi art style would still be horrible, though. The REAL reason why TPC and Game Freak canceled ILCA's plans to make a *good* Diamond and Pearl remake is because Game Freak don't want to lose their jobs to a gaming company that can do better than them. We already saw Genius Sonority make better console Pokemon games than Game Freak back in gen 3. Hell, even a gacha game like Pokemon Masters has actual voice acitng and higher production values and care put into it than anything Game Freak puts out there. So yeah, that's why the remakes are so bad; because Game Freak didn't want to get replaced. And it's not like any gaming studio couldn't do a better job than them.
@@MarvinPowell1 the artstyle wasn't good but it was tolerable. Once I got into the games I didn't notice it THAT much, the problem was just the lack of fresh content, compare BDSP to ORAS that has Megas, online super secret bases, the PSS from XY, new Megas, Primals, the Delta Episode, Deoxys encounter, and just overall a ton of additional content not from RSE. BDSP was LITERALLY just DP with Platinum rematch teams and Platinum Dex Pokemon available in the underground, that's it.
@@Borchert97 The art style is amazing :3 No one else but the bdsp community really agrees, but thats fine. Still think bdsp are the best switch pokemon games, although even that isnt really praise worthy given its just "the best of the bottom".
@@Mabayu disagree, best Pokemon games on the Switch, art style wise, is LGPE, and gameplay wise, is PLA. BDSP takes 3rd though, definitely ahead of the dumpster fires that are SwSh and SV.
Co-Owner for Team Luminescent here! Thank you so much for the love. We have an incredibly talented and passionate team behind our project and we are so excited to bring all this and more to the masses as soon as we can!! P.S. I do have to say though. As a team we are incredibly appreciative to ILCA for the amazing base for modding that BDSP is. We see them getting a lot of hate from the fans but it’s very clear to us that they had ambition to do so much more than their deadline, budget and GameFreak oversight allowed.
Hey! Glad this caught your eyes! Yeah I've seen some of the concept art for BDSP, the vision was there for sure. I probably should frame things more as corporate TPC pushing deadlines and unrealistic timeframes for devs. I'm still pretty solid on the expectation undercutting though - the end product was not what fans thought Pokemon remakes were supposed to be. Thanks for all the hard work the team puts in to make these awesome experiences for players! Hyped af to give it a spin when it drops.
I can definitely vibe with that sentiment! I hope that ReLumi can serve to meet and exceed expectations. As well as any projects that base themselves off of it. We want our Natdex, restored moves, addition of maps and character models for legacy characters to serve as a resource for anyone that wants to give modding BDSP a go. I hope to someday see massive original romhacks in BDSP just like we have in Gen 3.
You have no idea how happy it makes me for the developer of these models to appreciate the work ILCA put in. The Pokémon community is a hive mind but it's good to see some of the most deeply involved have nuanced thoughts
When you don't have time constraints/forced deadlines, and a litany of suits breathing down your neck every 5 minutes, its a lot easier to be more creative and free with what you make. ILCA suffered from shitty deadlines, and a lot of what they envisioned for BDSP was straight up cut as a result of PCI's interference. If ILCA had twice the time, and half the micromanagement from PCI, I'm certain BDSP would've been a much better product on launch. Maybe not perfect, or everything we wanted, but much better. LumiPlatinum on the other hand has all the time in the world, no pressure from PCI or Nintendo to restrict their creative freedom, and a whole community of people offering constant suggestions, bug/playtesting, new contributions, etc.
@@celarc99aaaaand, the modders already have the base, they have the full game already. I really appreciate modders, but people who think these guys could make a full fledged game from the ground up in the same amount of time are delusional
@@InfamousGameplaysPT Yes thats also why games freaks newer games are shit they work harder not smarter if they simply reused the engine from the previous 3ds games and just upgraded it for the switch that would save them a lot of time there's so shame is reusing stuff when it saves you a lot of time. Gamefreak basically except for remakes start over from scratch for every new game.
bro please consider fixing your microphone volume levels in post to be consistent (or stop moving your mic around so much). Having to constantly adjust my volume levels is.. not a good viewing experience.
yeah, its just a proof of concept. The scope of a mod like that would be huge - you would need to remodel most things to make the game-world visually cohesive. But ya know, if someone is up to it, it is possible.
@@PATRICKurmom Definitely. NPCs do have full sized models to use in battle after all. But there are so many of them in the overworld that the task is still huge.
yet again the Pokemon community outperforming the people working at game freak... at this point they should just make Pokemon open source like SPC. We would make a better game than they realistically ever could and we would make it for a cheaper price Edit: I'm not shitting on the people working at game freak they are just as much a victim of bad management decisions as the rest of the fans and realistically tho Pokemon would never do this in a million years if they did a-lot of the people working on game freak would probably kill to have an opportunity to work on a game all the way to the finished product
Hopefully ILCA can make them like bdsp so theyll be just as easily Moddable. Plus I like what ILCA did with bdsp so if they do another remake, especially my favorite generation, Id be really happy (as long as megas dont return).
So Luminescent Platinum is a remake of Renegade Platinum with only the relevant mechanic changes of future generations while Sigma Platinum is a reimagining akin to HGSS and ORAS with the full National Dex up to Gen 8 and all of the generational gimmicks like Mega and Z-Moves up to that point? Thank you ILCA for using Unity to make all of this so much easier!
*I think I was the only person to enjoy bdsp on launch week. What made it a fun experience for me was the glitches, they let me experience the mythical Pokémon events I missed out on as a kid because my parents wouldn’t drive me to the nearest GameStop for a silly event. I haven’t touched the games since launch week because my inner child was healed, I got to beat the games with a bad ass Darkrai and Shaymin that I obtained using the out of bounds glitch, the Pokémon that were always out of reach for me as a kid. The gift Mew and Jirachi were a nice added bonus too. Now that the glitches are patched I doubt I’ll ever want to replay them* *My final team ended up being Torterra, Mew, Jirachi, Darkrai, Shaymin, and Palkia*
I love the mods that keep the games vanilla, just add a ton of QoL features. Modern Emerald is by far the best, just adding day/night cycles, following Pokémon etc into emerald. Not really a fan of adding later gen mons into older games
Hey did you hear about the pokemon mystery dungeon rom hacks yet? there are so many of them and people even made it really easy to make your own rom hack
if i could, i've give whatshisname the head of NINTENDO a copy of POKEMON Emerald and POKEMON White and tell him "this is what a good pokemon game looks like, please stop using the franchise as an "Oops we need money button" and yes you have other franchises and fun looking games but this is your top franchise and should be treated as such. Yes Mario is big, but a handful of people can design a good Mario game he doesn't do anything special like POKEMON does. Will we get to an age where POKEMON will just never "line up" with other players? there are people that can only be enjoyed through trade evolve and some with an item. How does these mods fix that issue? Would i be able to go to a pokemon fan club of sorts in real life meat world and meet someone else playing the SAME mod SAME version and be able to trade/battle? This is if only, the only grip NINTENDO has on the POKEMON franchise. We should be reviving that old robot themed game that was basically bad pokemon before pokemon came out. We now have Palworld. Let POKEMON die, whatshisname in charge of NINTENDO seems to not care about the franchise so why should we? Thank you for your time reading all this.
At this point I am just waiting for the modders to make the games what they should be lol P.S. Luminescent Plat modders, please bring back the Pokemon center healing animation, or a way to enable/disable it at will :) Nostaligia cannot be fully reached if the game is different.
I find it saddening that 2D pokémon games gave a sense of being more alive then 3D pokémon. More specifically BW. Team Plasma was good, Gym designs were fire, the elite four were nice character if in my opinion had too little screen time in the story, which all elite four suffers from. Getchis was best villain, the level designs the sprites... Difficulty was still a problem in my opinion it was too easy, but also better then what we got ever since. And BW2 made some Gyms even freaking cooler! Nimbasa Gym in BW2 was my favorite together with the Castelia Gym! The entralink was also a cool feature...
I am beyond amazed by all of this, and I must say the future of rom hacks has never looked brighter. I'm eagerly awaiting the greatness that will come from these developers with bated breath. It's also funny how I just recently had a conversation with a couple of my friends, wondering why we haven't seen any map-changing Gen 4 and 5 games. Well, this answers our question! Great video, my man. I left a like and a subscription.
@@Mabayu The re-sized player model is not an official feature of ReLumi, it was included in a showcase entirely and only as a proof of concept by one of the developers. Mega's are also mostly in the same boat, however Team Luminescent has claimed that Mega's will exist in the files with stats, forms, and animations, but will not be included in ReLumi's official release in an actual gameplay capacity primarily due to balance issues. They exist purely so other modders can include them if they feel like it, and for no other reason.
@@celarc99 Ok, thats really good to know, thanks. Megas look cool, but I dislike them due to forced held item aswell as the balancing nightmare they are and restrict meta for competitive for example.
This video has revitalized my love and faith of this franchise. I've been struggling as of late because of how lacking every release since BDSP has been. BDSP was my breaking point. It's so refreshing to see there are teams of people fighting the good fight to give the people a GOOD, FINISHED PRODUCT.
I LOVE this, but my main issue is that I get attached to pokemon and want to be able to transfer pokemon from game to game. IF that ever becomes a thing Ill be the happiest person alive
Diamond and Pearl Baby is wild 😂😂😂 I Remember the times when people were discussing why Rayquaza wasn't a good Pokémon and how the new designs are not Pokémon anymore.
The Pokémon modding community are insane even after game freak and Nintendo have tried to destroy anything to do with modding or making fan game of any of there games they still persist and keep releasing bangers and make amazing games
Modders making something 50x better than a multibilliob dollar literally highest grossing franchise ever does with more than 5 years of development time in about a year or two
The craziest thing is that it's actually getting a full blown decompilation now, which means a PC port and even bigger mods. The reason for this happening so fast is really funny. The devs were so incompetent that they left all developer documentation on the cartridge.
Great video although I gotta say I'm even more surprised by the editing. Do you edit your videos yourself? If so, how did you learn to do it like that?
I did some editing when I was young, like iMovie and camtasia. All my editing for this channel I'm pretty much just learning davinci as I'm going, looking up RU-vid how to vids when I need them.
I was so excited for sinnoh remakes similar to OrAs, complete overhauls and the amount of fucking disappointment I had. I didn't even buy these and it's my favorite region :/
My spicy take is BDSP were Fine Actually, and still better experiences than base Diamond and Pearl, even if it is unfortunate they didn't add any Platinum content
