Holy smokes! 250+ views after 1 upload day is crazy! If you scroll down and see this, just know i appreciate you ❤ Edit on 12/13: okay I didn't expect this video to hit 17k+ views I'm actually ecstatic right now.
@@underdogchris1753 The Battle whatevers (Tower, Frontier, etc.) have always been a huge pain in the ass; grindy as hell, you need a lot of consecutive victories to get decent BP rewards, tons of enemies with luck-based moves like Sheer Cold etc (and naturally, they work way more than 30% of the time because the game hates you.)
Yeah I may have phrased that a bit poorly. It's still rather debatable whether or not consumers would have a better time with the Battery Frontier versus with ORAS post game though, so I wanted to mention it one way or another. Thank you for pointing that out!
Personally I enjoyed the more story aspect of the ORAS post game better, battle frontier is fun and can be rewarding but personally I've always found it a bit of a grind and less enjoyable than the story or pokedex
@@Rinz-Aide The tragedy is that the battle frontier was tedious in the old gens because breeding, ev training and grinding took forever. Those things are incredibly fast in the newer games, but there’s no battle frontier to capitalise on it.
I absolutely adore generation three. While I did start with generation one with Pokemon Red, Pokemon Sapphire ended up being one or the games I played the most. The Pokemon games, especially generations 1-3, are so relaxing/nostalgic to me. This video definitely made me want to replay generation three again. :)
Same. Gen 1er that ended up looking gen 3 the most. I remember buying a 3ds exclusively for this game and never picked it up before or after, but God did I spend some hours on this game
Currently playing ORAS again. Its amazing. Tbh it would be awesome if they released a Delta Emerald version for a cheap price. It could be 90% the same game with extra content of emerald and fixing some issues here and there, maybe introducing new megas etc. Just a fan fantasy I have for us the early gen lovers.
currently playing eternal x its a harder x and y so good it even has all megas from oras in it also mega gyrados type change to water dragon and dunspars got fairy type along with melotic
I love going back to games from my childhood like this, just soaking in all of the good vibes and not being excessively critical. it always frustrating when a retrospective is trying to break a game into a million pieces and compare a 10 year old game to elden ring and god of war. Of course a lot of old games will have issues, game design improves that just how it is, but it nice to go back and appreciate a game for what is was while pointing out issues that genuinely could've been solved back in the day.
Big agree. Our tastes developed and now there are other games we rather play, but that doesn't mean I didn't have a good time playing Pokemon Alpha Sapphire again. 😎🤝
smh oras is bad because no melania blade of micholah or kratos i wanted to die 50 times fighting steven to then get good and use zweildhandler on charzard and roll away when hp low so bad game 0/10
Your video is criminally underrated, love your editing and going over these remakes, these need to be remembered more and I’m glad people are talking about it now
My thoughts: Sucks that the battle frontier was removed, but I feel like soaring absolutely makes up for it. Soaring lowkey made ORAS the true first openworld Pokémon games
I was one of the lucky people to play each gen in order as a child. Got Red in 98 as a two year old haha. That said, Hoenn is and always been my favorite region, and Omega Ruby is my favorite Pokémon game. I loved playing gen 6 competitive, too! Treecko’s always been my favorite starter since gen 3, and Skarmory is always on my Hoenn team, since it’s my favorite Pokémon and it’s available much much earlier relatively in Gen 3 compared to its debut. TL:DR, great video, love the games lol
Oras is one of the most underrated Pokémon remakes. It changes just enough so that it doesn’t just feel like a copy and paste remake of the original and feels fresh instead of just feeling like a straight remake.
Never got to play ORAS but Emerald was one of my first Pokemon games back in the early days. It's nice to see ORAS getting the love it deserves these days.
The quality in this video, I never even realized how small your chennel is! I am so glad you showed up in my feed, absolutely great content keep it up! ❤️
Dude Im replaying Omega Ruby right now and it really is a gem. Platinum and Heart Gold still are my top two, but this one is probably third. Such a good game
@@Antfucksyourass818just bought a 3ds for $350 & platinum for $120 prices are through the roof i sorely regret selling my pokemon games and 3ds in 2017 prices were normal back then, have no idea what happened
Very glad to hear someone else echo my belief that Hoenn has the best music. I think the arrangements are more complex and catchy than other generations, and I also love the style/genres they incorporate. The sound font from the OG gba games will always be my favorite, but the new renditions are great too.
I loved oras sm, my first game was x but these games are still very nostalgic for me, just a reminder of simpler times and I always like to revisit these games every once in a while
Pros: Gave both villains more motives besides "moar wotah, moar lan" Wally actually has a character conclusion. Our rival does something. We had more battles with megas. The Delta Episode... Nothing to say. Cons: It's Gen 6 so it's EZ-PZ. You get a mega LEGENDARY in the 4/5th gym.
OR/AS was peak Pokemon competitive. There were Pokemon battle meets nearly every week. It was mostly college students. At university I battled with newbies and veterans. I was actually the best in my friend group. Even online it was fun seeing wrecking people that used legendary Pokemons while I only used regular ones Most people left Pokemon before US/UM
Apart from the whole no Battle Frontier thing, ORAS is about as perfect of a remake as can be. Its a shame Gamefreak's quality has gone so downhill over the past few gens
I'm still playing my Alpha Sapphire game to this day. There's just so much to do. They also introduced two of the best Shiny hunting methods; Horde Encounters and Dexnav Chaining (yesterday I found a Shiny Bronzor after 270 encounters with the Dexnav) I still remember the team I beat the game with; Blaziken, Breloom, Manectric, Latias, Sharpedo and Sylveon. I had a Gardevoir on my team as well but boxed it because it was the weakest member of my team and caught an Eevee once I was able to find it in the game, evolved into Sylveon and sweeped the Dragon Type user in the Elite Four. Also, my favorite part of the game is the Secret Bases and collecting the flags and finding new Secret Bases is so much fun! I also completed the Hoenn and National Dex, not only did it tame me a LONG time to complete both but it was satisfying when I was done; got the Shiny Charm and two cool certificates that you can hang up in your Secret Base. Still my favorite Pokémon game to this day. I mostly go around collecting flags from the Secret Bases, level up some Pokémon and occasionally Shiny Hunt.
I'm glad someone here mentioned the Secret Bases and had value with it! For me, it was a little tacky but I'm very happy you had fun with it! I don't catch Pokemon like that but I remember my first shiny was in ORAS. I saw a Zigzagoon sparkle and was orange and accidentally ended his life LMAO
@@b1bbly Yeah, most people forget about the Secret Bases was a thing in ORAS but I like it, it's really fun lol And this is the game that got me into Shiny Hunting. My first Shiny in the game was a random Female Frillish, I was just Surfing trying to get somewhere, Sootopolis probably lol Edit: F for the Shiny Zigzagoon, that's an oof lol
Stumbled upon your video - loved it! Note on Wally, you can unlock another battle with him after completing a certain amount of Battle Resort battles, continuing to be a badass with his Lvl 80+ team
playing pokemon sapphire is one of my earliest childhood memories, the remakes are pretty perfect imo especially because of the way it expands on gen 6. 3D sprites and animations are top tier for a ds game
I was playing on an emulator! I was using Citra but I heard there have been some tea with Nintendo Emulation recently. Just sucka because we own the game but it's like they don't want us to preserve the games. You can try it out if Citra is still around or I heard Lemonade or Lime3DS are alternatives now. 🙏 Best of luck
I haven't played ORAS, but damn this video hits especially the music part. the music in gen 3 is actually my fav. I may prefer FRLG (its my first Pokemon game), but Pokemon Ruby have a special place in my heart and i will eventually play Omega Ruby.
Man, maybe I should go on a Pokemon spree or something. FRLG seems to be the other popular one if it isn't HG/SS or Emerald. You're making me want to try them all now, haha
@@b1bbly I actually haven't played neither HGSS nor Emerald. I got the Gameboy Advanced when I was a kid from my brother (he's the one who hooked me to Pokémon and gaming in general). he gave me Pokémon Fire red and challenged me to beat it and then he bought me Ruby and I spent a lot of hours in these games till my fire red cartage was not saving anymore lol. then I stopped playing Nintendo games until the 3DS comes around and my brother bought me one with Pokémon White, White 2 and Pokémon Y. I stopped playing because a burnout and I didn't got the feeling to play any Pokémon games. Fast forward to today I actually got all the Nintendo switch entries last month, and I have finished both Let's go Pikachu and Scarlet. Now playing Brilliant diamond and I'm having a blast.
@@l7xk533 I'm so happy to hear you're enjoying Pokemon again. The series comes in waves for me too. I have Sword and Violet right now but haven't even touched them to be honest. Are the Gen 4 remakes any good? Would you say they are worth picking up? I hear they are based of the originals Diamond/Pearl and not Platinum. Let me know 😁
@@b1bbly i haven’t played the gen 4 games so i wouldn’t know, but i’ve searched about something because i was stuck and didn’t know what to do. and from what i’ve read its a diamond and pearl thing that got fixed in platinum. either way i don’t think its a bad game if you haven’t played the gen 4 games.
I just bought omega ruby this year, never played this remakes but man I was happy I seen this on game stop and I had to buy I played the gba sapphire version nd I always loved those games
I love oras! It was the last good pokemon games, in my opinion. Yes i thought it was easy, but i still enjoyed the adventure and everything they added to it. Sucks that BDSP didn't follow its predecessor.
I absolutely love every bit of this video. Thx you for making this. I also thought this artstyle is the most perfect artstyle for pokemon, not too childish (like scarlet and violet) and not too realistic (ahem, like scarlet and violet too, somehow).
Still one of the best games ever. Get to use my favorite Pokemon (Latias). Get to hear one of my fave game music (Zinnia's Battle Themes). And it was just a lot of fun to play this game. But damn is it already so old. Time goes so fast... I do hope if there will ever be remakes of HGSS it will be done ORAS style and not BDSP style.
ORAS is probably the best Pokemon game released originally on the 3DS. That isn't saying much, however, since X and Y were so mid and Sun and Moon were so disappointing. That said, ORAS holds a special place in my heart for helping me through a bad relationship in senior year of High School. I remember particularly enjoying the whole optional Sea Mauville storyline/experience.
OMG I forgot about sun and moon 🤣 I played halfway through and gave it up. Talk about hand holding the players and pointing a gun to their head to watch their cutscenes
Sun and Moon were fantastic! I was away from the series since I beat Sapphire initial release. Came back and got X, but never put any time in. Moon launched and I dove back in. Got AS after and then went back to X. X, AS, and Moon were all absolutely fuckin amazing. I kinda wanna go back and play others I missed like B/W.
@@dopeastroI absolutely disagree , ultra sun and moon are one of the best pokemon games in the series. Like it feels so damn unique. I wish gamefreak does more games like sun and moon where they throw the usual formula out the window and makes a game that is completely unique compared to the rest of the series.
It was my first 3ds game and my first nintendo console after almost 2 decades (gbc was my last). The game still holds up today. It is a proper and well made remake compared to the recent gen 4 remakes.
OG sapphire was my first ever pokemon game. As someone who fell out of love with the series after Heart Gold/Soul Silver I'm excited to come back and experience this
ORAS definitely was fun and had so many good features that everything after that game felt like a downgrade. It was still no Emerald because it was the easier version of Gen 3 and no battle frontier but it was still really good and base building was the best of any game. The Online system was PEAK here. Every Gen after just felt like a step back.
In 2007 I bought a gba sp/emerald bundle because my hometown caught on fire and we had to evacuate. My mom felt bad I had to leave everything at home and was so bored all day, so we went to Walmart and walked around looking for stuff. While walking out of the store with nothing in hand we walked past the game isle and the sp emerald combo was the only thing on the rack. Right on the edge next to the walkway. I asked “can I have this?” Without even knowing what it was just seeing Pokémon and knowing it from the TV show.
As someone who grew up with the original Ruby Sapphire and Emerald, I actually haven't ever bothered to play the remakes.. you're making me want to though. 😅
ORAS is slowly starting to feel vintage, and that is crazy. Time is flying. New Pokemon games are SO different than the 3DS style of art. ORAS is still just pixelated enough for me that I prefer it to the Switch games largely. I think I'm going to stock up on ORAS and X Y copies sealed while they're still cheap, because literally every single game before them is now $200+ at the minimum sealed, and these games are still under $100. Won't be like that for long.
These games, as well as the originals, were released on my birthday. I was born 11.21.1995. To date it is my favorite generation by a landslide. And at the bottom lies Gen 5. My 2nd favorite.
Or/As in my honest opinion are the best mainline Pokemin games that have ever been released. It‘s a shame that they didn’t give us the battle frontier, yet I‘m not mad about it. My hype for Or/As was huge when it was announced although I hated R/S/E back then. Or/As really showed me how to love the Hoenn region and since then I‘ve also played through R/S/E several times. Over the years, a lot of pokemon games were called the best, back then people said it was Hg/Ss, after that, people started saying that B2/W2 were the best and for years now, people have been saying platinum. I love gen 4, but Or/As to me can‘t be beaten. This game would get a perfect 100/100 from me.
I just think this style of 3D looked so much better. I don't remember which game used the 3D models but pixelated it all, that looked even better. When I look at one of the newer models and the detail or even the eyes are pretty much painted over a smooth curve, that just takes me out of it. It looks so cheap.
I 100% agree, something about the newer art direction, although many seem to like it too, there is this weird gloss or plastic feeling to it which I strongly dislike. Sword and shield less so, more in Scarlet and Violet.
I was born in 2003 so I wasn't one of the fans who had been playing the games since red and blue, but I had an older brother who got me into the series. I was stupid so I didn't know how to properly play the games when I was a young kid so my brother would let me do some battles and run around while he was playing diamond and pearl. Then one fateful Christmas my late grandma got me Omega Ruby and my brother Alpha Sapphire for Christmas. It was the first game I fully played by myself and its was solidified me as a true pokemon fan. It is also the reason why Sceptile is my favorite pokemon! I love these games because they're what made me love pokemon
I remember being 9 years old when this came out, my third pokemon game, i remember showing my mom every pokemon i would caught on my 3ds such a good time i loved every moment of it i remember sometimes leting my nintendo fall and the game would crash and restart i also remember when for som reason the game just died it stop working my nintendo cannot read it anymore sometimes it can but when i try to go inside the game it would say game crash blah blah
No, because ORAS is THE BEST remake they've ever done point blank period. The graphics are fine, the music is great (Wally;s theme being my favorite), it has stunning visuals, good dialogue, the added story parts were good, the megas were great, they made contests better, and the replayability is off the charts. So much so that I find myself revisiting this game the most because it just has so much to do. You can do the battling, catching, and elite four rematches like usual, but you also have the imo, MASSIVELY improved contests (You even get your own clothes for the contest which makes Ruby and Brendan even more similar now, BUT YOU ALSO GOT A GAME EXCLUSIVE COSPLAY PIKACHU????!!!!!), you have the hoopa portals, you can ride around on latios and latias, you have the battle tower, secret bases. Just saying, these games are the shit.
In 2006 for my 6th birthday I got a gameboy advanced sp with Pokemon Sapphire with it. Needles to say I had tons of fun with it and while biased I just always loved gen 3, the music alone I just find so great to listen to still to this day. I just remember getting so excited when ORAS was announced and was so happy to get my hands on them. Now I never had Emerald up to that point, only bought it like last year. So I never experienced the extra stuff Emerald had that Ruby and Sapphire didnt, but I still had lots of fun and loved ORAS. I thought they added some good stuff, the music somehow just got better (Wally's battle music at the end of victory road goes HARD for no real reason and I love that) I did hear about what they didnt include and how ORAS could have been even better than what we got and I get that, but I just never could hate on those games man, biased? yes, but thats just how it goes haha. Good video dude, always love seeing people talk about gen 3/ORAS :)
I was thinking of playing this or emerald horizon. I'll probably play both, but start with omega red. I pretty much fell out of pokemon but come back every once in a while. Only XY and Legend Aerceus are the only 3D pokemon ive played. I felt like it wasn't long ago, I wanted to play this game when it first came out. Damn didnt think it was 9 years already... 😅 I was going to jump to BDSP, but i figured I'll play this one first.
I was around 11-12 when I played this game. I remember saving up for the game and the console. I think I put around 800+ hrs to omega ruby since I played a lot of competitive battles .This is the last main line Pokemon enjoyed. Looking back at the game, I think it is not just nostalgic bias that makes these games great, but I think it was cool especially with the delta episode part. Really enjoyed your vid!
i loved playing alpha sapphire, sure it was “easy”, but it just had a charm to it that no other 3ds game had. to me its second to heartgold, the first pokemon game i ever played. sadly my 3ds needs repairs, but rest assured once its fixed i’ll get myself a capture card and play through this wonderful game once again.
I was gifted HG/SS a couple years ago but never finished it fully. I'll run it back and get out a video some time in the future! :) And you gotta celebrate the 9th year anniversary of ORAS with another play through!
