The start of my long look at Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

@@Boulder7685 SwSh had sold a ton as well, not to mention the money they make off of various merchandise, side games, and so on. Unless somebody was horribly mismanaging GameFreak's finances, the company as a whole definitely had the budget to dub it in at least Japanese and English (not sure if they'd have enough for all the other languages).

I ended up going from somewhat pessimistic to enthusiastic about this game BECAUSE of the bugs. I was glitched to a weird overleveled mountain top after catching a Lechonk in the tutorial area...and for a while it became a survival game. I had no items, a dead starter, and...a Lechonk (the best named Pokémon in history). Level 7 Lechonk in a level 15-20 nightmare and it looked at me with it's goofy spherical face as if to say, "It's Lechonkin' time". ... Turns out, Lechonk is a survivor. Lechonk fan for life. 💪🐷

0:10 Yes, they do eat them, though in the case of crab pokemon it seems more that they usually just take claws that fall off the crabs from battle or other causes (the claws grow right back). Also, that's Nemona's house. Her family is quite wealthy.

"It's school policy to wear these stupid pants" In Violet the pants are at least purple but it still beats out the Shujin Academy punk plaid pants uniform. Also: Gimmighoul's coins are needed to evolve it. You need 999 of them. It's just as tedious as it sounds. "HOW" Okay. TM's are single use again but can be crafted. Every Pokemon center has a crafting station and a shop. Red is healing, blue is shopping, green is crafting. If you get a TM recipe (either by finding the thing yourself or someone giving you recipes as part of a plot point or side mission) you can make them at the crafting station with any materials you find (usually by defeating wild Pokemon). Unevolved pokemon only give 1, stage 2 give 3, and stage 3 evolution give 6. Naturally stage 3 evos are harder to find. Pokemon that dont evolve at all give 3 materials per defeat/capture. Gimmighoul is an exception since his materials are needed to evolve the stupid thing. So, say you want to make a TM but it requires Ralts materials. You then have to go out and hunt down Pokemon in the Ralts line (Kirlia and Gardevoir/Gallade drop Ralts mats since they evolve from it), and then you can return to the green machine at a center to craft your TM. A TM will tell you how many materials of a certain type you need to make it, but if it says ??? Instead of a name, it means you havent found the pokemon that drops that material yet.

So glad someone is giving this game praise. To me it's the most fun I've had playing a pokemon game since Emerald and by far the best plot in any pokemon game ever. All of the stories were pretty well done but I especially liked Arven's and Sada's storyline. I also like how the professor is this weird goober and how the elite four have chemistry with each other.

Definitely the most fun Ive had playing a Pokemon game. I could go anywhere and catch any mon without having to wait until a certain point in the game to have access to usual late game mons.

Correction: what they mean by duplicate TMs is once you find a TM or are given one for the first time, you can make as many as you want in the TM machice after so long as you have the necessary materials

I highly recommend arcues I had more fun with that game then Scarlett and violet. There is something so nice about literally having an aim function and throw and batting in relative real time. Everything felt so fast

Team star bases are so big so you can have safe spaces to hatch your eggs without being attacked by aggresive pokemon constantly. Change my mind. The fairy camp is pretty much perfect for hatching, aside from when the wind picks up and blows pokemon into the camp, but I just find that hilarious.

Nemona made me want a 3rd version of the game that was more adult and unhinged. Shes champion ranked, I'd love it if she just beats the snot out of by during the first battle by accident and THEN is reminded by the director that were new then we have a real battle. I just want her to wail on me every now and then, give me an actual challenge sometimes. If they had implemented level scaling, even passively, she could occasionally throw in a pokemon that's your actual level compaired to all her other preset mon. Hell even if she was the only one that scaled with your level that would be amazing. Shes literally us, the people who love hard battling and pushing themselves, building teams and making the absolute best mon, let her be free and unhinged! I dont see why we cant just randomly hunt this girl down and challenge her to battles outside of scripted rival battles. Even when we unlock her in her room would be a great place to let us challenge her atleast once a day!

I disagree, there are far better games with far better quality then Pokémon, you would know this if you played anything other then Pokémon. Shin megami tensei 5 and Persona 5 Royal are better games and monster collectors then Pokémon will ever be. Elden ring is a better open world game then Pokémon scarlet and Violet, with there current 3 year development cycle; making open world games every 3 years while releasing annual releases is going to damage the overall health of the employees while there games suffer. Open world games require at minimum 4 years of development. Now that the games sold well they know people want more open world Pokémon games, I can only imagine how overworked the developers will be.

@@larsthememelord3383 people in the working industry don’t get paid much, and it’s clearly obvious that the developers are being overworked, constantly having to release something every year under a strict time limit, the fact that scarlet and Violet launched the way it did, the fact that bdsp was buggier then gen 1 without the day one patch and shipped in a horrible state, it’s clearly obvious that the developers are being overworked it does not take rocket science to know this. Also if they are overworked they arn’t being payed well, if you know how the gaming industry works as a whole especially in places like Japan you would know that they don’t get paid enough for there work just like animators for anime don’t get paid much and are overworked. Scarlet and Violet barely had much effort into it, I already explained why it’s a garbage game incomparison to past titles, I am not repeating myself because we know scarlet and Violet had crappy game design flaws, horrible visuals incomparison to a game like let’s go pikachu.

@@larsthememelord3383 you’re probably using a more modern Nintendo switch instead of the one that released back in 2017 which can explain why you arn’t experiencing some of the bugs, some of the bugs also take place online while others take place offline, the offline bugs and serious performance issues require that you play the game for a large period of time without stopping for 5-6 hours straight without pausing or shutting down the game.

It's basically the cyberpunk of pokemon. Amazingly fun, if you can get past all the bugs glitches and crashes, you will love it. And wish it ran better even more once you realize how much fun you're having. When things work.

No one should have to get past the bugs from a game made by the highest profitable IP in the world to enjoy this game. What they did to this game is inexcusable, and damn well didn’t deserve to sell as well as it did; now the developers are going to be overworked to death because they have to develop another open world Pokémon game in a span of 3 years while also doing annual releases, the developers are going to be overworked now that the game sold well.

And imagine releasing a physical copy of this game and then patch it later with all of the bugs and serious performance issues and crashing? The base physical product just lost its value as a Pokémon title because the base game is incomplete without a patch needed to fix it. And if the game sold poorly then the devs arn’t going to lose there jobs, the people who are going to lose there jobs are the people who are putting these strict impossible deadlines expecting top quality from the developers despite the fact that they are pushing impossible deadline. I don’t think the devs will lose there job because they were doing as they were told.

@@larsthememelord3383 scarlet and Violet are mediocre Pokémon games with a very bland and boring open world that not only lacks polish but an open world where there is barely anything to do in it outside of catching Pokémon or shinies, Pokémon games arn’t suited for open world. Especially with the horrendous level design of the world that grants freedom with barely anything to do in it outside of just running around catching Pokémon.

@@larsthememelord3383 scarlet and Violet incomparison to past Pokémon games like gold and silver/crystal, Kanto, Hoenn, sinnoh, and unova set the bar extremely low with its horrendous level design and exploration in scarlet and Violet somehow being objectively worse then the older 2D titles which kind you; had better level design and exploration then anything shown in scarlet and Violet. Infact exploration was peak in BW,BW2, DPPT,GSC, RSE, LGPE, FRLG, HGSS then in a game like scarlet and Violet simply for the fact that scarlet and Violet had terrible level design and terrible gym puzzles that don’t even compare to past titles, I geniunely hope the developers come to there senses and realize that Pokémon games just arn’t suited for open world and they should stick to making games like how they used to in terms of level design/exploration and better gym puzzles. Heck even a game like sword and shield has better gym puzzles like the water type gym then a game like scarlet and Violet. In the older games, exploration involved lavander town tower, Dragonspiral tower, ho-oH tower in HGSS.

Imma need GF to act like they make as much money as they do lol. They sit there acting like we wont wait as long as itll take for the next fully complete pomemon game, theres no need to rush them. Imagine how hilarious it would be if Arven just runs off and instead of him disappearing when he goes off screen and the screen pans over for no reasons, he runs off screen and when it pans over you just see his sprite mad far in the background like he was truly booking it away from yall 😂😭

because pokemon is a game where you can spend 5 hours without talking to a single npc except nurse joy and that dialogue would get annoying fast like do you understand how annoying hearing nurse joy every time you want to restore your pokemons hp not to mention that the voice lines would either cut off if you wanted to leave before the voice lines done or you need to wait until joy stopped talking

Hell, they could make an option in the settings that makes it so that you skip the confirmation all together, you just press a at the pokecenter and bam your pokemon are healed instantly.
