The Vervet Forest is a wildlife rehab series focused on Vervet Monkeys at the Vervet Monkey Foundation. The series showcases the process of taking orphaned and injured vervet monkeys through a foster mother program which helps these rescued orphan baby monkeys to be adopted by foster mother monkeys. The show is for fans of the animal planet, nat geo, discovery and anyone who is an animal lover, loves animals and would like to be part of helping them get back to the wild.

Another great video! Showing compassion and tenderness towards the monkeys is always a relief to watch in a crazy world. Thank you!

That was so funny when Laura moved little Pokie to a larger cage, when Laura put her down, Pokie turns around and gives Laura a little shove to complain about being grabbed, I laughed so hard, Pokie is very brave! 😍 You all are doing such a Great job, especially being so understaffed! I pray that all your setbacks from those lockdowns over the last year and a half, finally End, and then get back to some normalcy! 🙏

These videos are a joy and comfort to watch. Knowing these monkeys are getting the best possible care in every respect is heartwarming. I enjoy learning and seeing new things about their behaviors. The foster moms are so loving and protective, a wonderfully uplifting thing to see. (I love my baby monkey mug, with Viktor, Pascall, Toni and Dora, especially knowing their rough starts.) Being able to contribute monthly is a connection that I value. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the loving care with which you embrace these little darlings, enabling them to enjoy a full, happy life in the environment in which they belong and thrive.

The volunteers are just amazing, I wish I could do what they do but sadly after driving Big Rigs for 40 years my condition isn’t the best !! My admiration to all of you for what you do for these beautiful little guys !!

Lovely video this week…as always!! Thank you for all of your time and dedication all of you give to these babies and all of the monkeys! How adorable seeing Meg with her leaf 🍃 in her mouth walking around 😆. I always get a kick out of the vervet babies (I think I’ve seen other primates throw similar fits as well) when they throw a quick tantrum and they kinda tense up and shake/bounce up & down while they cry. I don’t know why but it cracks me up and reminds me of the Tickle Me Elmo doll that would laugh and shake. 🤣 These babies are just like human babies, throwing tantrums when they don’t get their way, hyper, they don’t want to share and they make a huge mess with their food! 🍌 🐵 ❤️

Thanks Dave for all the work that you and all your workers do to give these beautiful creatures the best lives they can have. I hope you are all healthy and well. It was neat to see some of the older monkeys living in their troops.

I loved this episode. Pokie is so adorable. Will she be accepted back into the troop easily or is there some kind of process to ensure she will be ok? If I was a lot younger I would love to volunteer. You are all amazing. Thank you for being so caring. Thank you for all you do

This has nothing to do with the video but thought you may know. Why is it a monkey can literally eat away half a leg and lick huge wounds to clean it out and they rebound as if nothing happened. Question is do they have something in there Saliva that prevents infection?
@VervetMonkey
@VervetMonkey 2 года назад
I think its more to do with the ability to keep it clean, the same works in all animals and probably worked in humans many years ago, so long as they can reach the wound to lick it or wipe it clean, they can recover from anything, its also the reason why they try bite across the back to inflict a lethal wound
@ianbateman4936
@ianbateman4936 2 года назад
@@VervetMonkey that makes sense. I’m surprised they are so tactical by going at the back. For the most part they just blow a smoke unless it’s a lopsided fight

Make a milk dish about 2ft long and 3 or 4in. Wide. They used to be like that for the horses and dogs. But they were a lot larger than that Try it. It should do the trick and the babies will not all be pushing there way around the bowl. Long way will have them in a row. Locking the milk.

Does anyone know how the VMF funds the vet treatments? Do they take specific donations to cover the vets costs or just pay for the treatments from general funds? Also, while I am asking questions about funding, does anyone know what the approximate cost to feed the monkeys for a day, or a week, or a month, on average? I was just wondering if they (the VMF) would consider having sponsors donate to cover the estimated costs for a week, or a day, or something. What do people think? Cheers
@VervetMonkey
@VervetMonkey 2 года назад
The vet bills are paid from general funds however we do now and again have special fundraising for certain operations, very roughly it costs around $100 a day to feed all 600 monkeys on average, not including special diets and medications - we would love sponsors for a day or week or month would be fantastic

I have always wondered what happens with the leftovers. Today it was said that it gets raked up. So, humans do go into the enclosures? I think I heard mentioned once that you also cut back the grass close to the fence? Perhaps you all could explain these procedures in a future video? Thanks 🙏🙂
