Poland's ELITE Special Forces Unit: JW GROM
J-W GROM, Poland's premier special forces unit, was established on July 13, 1990, in the wake of the fall of communism in Poland. Its formation was influenced by existing special forces from NATO countries, particularly the United States and the United Kingdom. Many of the initial instructors within JW GROM received training from these elite units, setting the foundation for the high standards and capabilities that GROM would become known for.

Polish GROM are called “The Surgeons” for two reasons. The are surgical in their strikes on every mission and 75% of GROM operators are medics or paramedics.

I "believe" they were featured in "Medal Of Honor" game console brief franchise! Otherwise, their "scalpel pricission" as SOFU (Special Operations Forces Unit) is world renknown and respected! Kudos! 😮😮😮😮😮😮

I will add a cool fact. The call of duty mission with GROM and Seals was added only after the game producers saw GROM and Seals recalling old times from various actions in Iraq and Afghanistan at a meeting. And the call of duty mission with GROM is modeled on a real operation of the GROM unit, where soldiers of this formation caught the war criminal Slavko Dokmanović. The operation to capture the war criminal ended so quickly that his personal bodyguards didn't even have time to draw their personal weapons. I will add that the codenames of GROM soldiers in the game were the actual codenames of real GROM soldiers.

I will tell you a cool fact that I learned from a GROM soldier. Namely, when the British SAS trained together with GROM, they preferred to train with GROM, and when NAVY SELAS also trained with GROM, they also preferred to work with GROM rather than SAS. There must be something to it.

There is a mission or two in Medal of Honor (2010) or Medal of Honor Warfighter where our tier one guys work closely with Grom. The game was made with the help of active tier one Devgru and CAG guys at the time. I have also heard all good things regarding Grom from our time with them overseas. Edit: I just looked and it was MoH: Warfighter. The mission is called Old Friends, and many of the missions are very accurate to similar missions (Operators at Devgru were later reprimanded for releasing classified information because the game was too accurate to real life missions with classified information portrayed in the game) that have taken place. One of the greatest games of all time.

I've heard that multiple times as well. Actually a lot of different SF (tier 1) units like to work with them. They are also notorious for their drinking, but that goes without saying 🤓

In fact, it’s “JW”, guys. It stands for Jednostka Wojskowa (Military Unit). That’s standard formal nomenclature in the Polish Armed Forces, used to describe self-organised units (like regiments in the UK). In this case: Jednostka Wojskowa GROM (JW GROM). In English, the term Special Missions Unit GROM (SMU GROM) is formally used. “Grom” itself means “thunder”, and now there’s no abbreviation out there. However, at the beginning, it stood for Grupa Reagowania Operacyjno-Mobilnego (the Mobile Operational Reaction Group), which sounded stupid, just like CAG or DEVGRU, but it was as it was. Now it’s just GROM per se. The unit’s first selection course was done by Delta in the US. Then the selected guys were trained & advised by Delta and SAS. The ties have been kept on. In the meantime, GROM operated closely with US Navy SEALs in Iraq as well. Jocko Willink remembered that time a few times in his podcasts.

@@johnnykrauzena dodatek selekcja jest cały czas. Możesz być w Gromie 5 lat a i tak operatorzy się oceniają nawzajem. Odbiegasz od normy, opuściłeś się,nie ma dla ciebie miejsca out. Takie samooczyszczenie organizmu. Poza pracą możesz być moim najlepszym kumplem,ale w trakcie pracy musi być profesjonalizm. Żołnierz GROM-u w ciągu roku jest około 2 miesięcy w domu jakby zsumować.
