This is an overview of my Jupiter II model. This is the 1st rendition from Polar Lights, released way back in 2000. The ship sat on my shelf for all those years but decided to finally build it last year. It has a lighted fusion core and upper deck.

I appreciate all the work you do and it is not my intention to take any of that away, but I would like to share one example of Randall Cooper's work with viewers as I feel this masterpiece has gone unnoticed.

no worries. I agree. I've actually mentioned Randy's work a number of times on the channel and also interviewed him as well for a Hailing Frequencies Open segment. He is definitely a master

Great video and Great Job with your ship! Thank you so much for the detailed video as I got this model and I am trying to get as much information as possible to be able to make the right choices before I start this project. I'm also glad that I don't have to cut the Land Gear door to be able to set it up. I appreciated your simplicity, practicality with a touch of sophistication as part of the job. I want mine to look Good for me without overdoing it and I think you got the perfect balance. Next step is to find the Fusion Core and ceiling lights, decals and the Pilot/Co-Pilot's chairs and perhaps the book for visual reference while I am engaged in the process. Once I have all I want to incorporate, then I will start the Journey. With Gratitude and Appreciation for your tutorial video. Very Helpful ! THANK YOU🙏

Thanks for all the great comments. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, the book is difficult to find now and expensive. There are a lot of references at this point so I don't think it's critical. I actually ended up selling the book I had since I had no intention on every building another Jupiter2. Good luck with your build. Would love to see it when it's done, feel free to send pics. Thanks for watching

I always appreciate that no matter how OUTSTANDING your modeling is, you are so candid about any gaffes or details that didn't quite turn out as you envisioned. It really helps those of us who haven't reached your level (and may never!) feel less daunted by projects that are not pitch perfect. Your demeanor and deportment in these videos is another thing that is refreshing and real. Thanks for this channel and for allowing us a glimpse into the marvelous collection you are crafting!

Hey that turned out great bro'!!! I'm thinking of picking one of these up myself... I'm not good with electronics so I, won't light mine... For painting around the bottom windows I'll use humbrol maskol I'm not familiar with the masking fluid you used...

There's a guy by the name of Mark Myers on Facebook. He has done an exceptional job with his. You might want to message him on Facebook if you come across anything. He has built an amazing Jupiter II.

Hi. I enjoyed your build and video. So much so I purchased a set of the TDS decal set also. I am not co.pletely satisfied with the color of the vinyl stickers though for the floors. I'm wondering how strong the adhesive is if I decide to simplify use them as masks for spraying. Would you anticipate much difficulty removing them and possible reaction with pai t beneath? Thanks
@InterstellarModeler
@InterstellarModeler 2 года назад
Thanks for the compliment. As for the stickers, I would hesitate to use them as painting masks. The adhesive is pretty strong. Thanks for watching

Thank you for your kind words. Yes I forgot to mention that I lost the original dome that came with the kit. Luckily there's this store in town that sells all kinds of plastic stuff and they happen to sell these acrylic hemispheres. I was fortunate enough to find one that was just the right size. I ended up looking pretty nice because it really pick up the light from the interior.

Great build/review ! I just found mine in storage with the seats and both lighting sets . But the fusion core light ( same one that you used ) wont work with a 9 volt battery. I had to buy the case for 3 AA and it seems to do the trick. Thank you for all your builds , great reference. Tony

I cut holes in the floor for the ladder and elevater. Found they dont line up. So corrected that issue. Now wondering about how to make sense of where the space pod sits...... Ovee the landing gear. Theres a video showing the space pod exiting from under the freeze yube area😵🤔..... July 6 2019

Use a painting knife with spakkling compound to make it smooth. The paint needs a primer coat to look always even.

if you go to 12:29 all of the paints are discussed. Glad I included that because this build was over 10 years ago. The model was painted with the old Testors repellant airbrush kit which is no longer available. I dont recall using any brushes. If you are looking for brushes, I would recommend Zembrush.com as a source. If you're looking for brushes to apply fine details, here's a link to one suggestion but I would just browse through to see what meets your needs. Hope that helps. Hi....this is Polar Lights the 12" diameter model kit which I believe was released in late 90's early 2000s. It was in my garage for years. I know Moebius eventually released a 18" larger kit. Just don't recall what year that was but I know for sure the one in the video isn't the larger of the two. Thanks

Nice build up of this classic kit. What did you use in place of the kit part for the dome on top of the saucer? It looks to be an acrylic hemisphere. It looks like the tip from an aftermarket lightsaber blade. Again, nice build.

@InterstellarModeler 6 лет назад
Hi Ron, if you want more details check out 4:21 and 9:05 of the video. The company that sold them is called skyhookmodels.com. Just a reminder that this is the smaller Jupiter2 kit, not the larger one that came later. I checked their site and it appears these parts are still available. Thanks for watching.

Hi there, very nice model and work!... I would love to do one myself but have absolutely no idea where to source those accesories from. I would appreciate dearly if you could point out any websites or online stores where to buy the lights, figures , chairs, etc?? ... thans so much
@InterstellarModeler
@InterstellarModeler 6 лет назад
Hi...thanks...this is an older kit so I don't think there's much available for it anymore. The most recently produced J2 kit was larger and you can still find accessories for it. Unfortunately it looks like that model is also out of production. I think Culttvman.com is probably your best bet. I did get the lighting kit from monstersinmotion.com. Not sure if they're still selling stuff for it but worth checking it out. Thanks for watching.
