can you use heart rate mode while swimming? I am more interested in keeping my heart rate in a safe zone during the work out, rather than check after I am done
I think you can broadcast heart rate to a Bluetooth watch during the swim, but heart rate in the water might not be 100% accurate with the optical sensor this device uses.
My polar verity in "pool swim" mode is generally at least off by 200m at least. Heart rate and time are fine as far as I can tell. My best guess on why distances are inaccurate is that it cannot sense the difference between turns and my head flipping around when I breath, adjust head position, or just knock the water out of my ears randomly.
In the pool, used on the arm and not on the elastic band of the goggles, it (probably) works well for measuring the pulse, but it greatly miscounted the number of laps done as well as the completely random change of style. Buy it only as a heart rate monitor
Howdy! While swimming, It's recommended to use Polar Verity Sense against your temple with the help of a swimming goggle strap clip to get the most accurate data for your heart rate and swimming metrics (pool swimming). Hope this helps. 🙂

Will it as some point provide timing for every say 100 meters or other custom interval. Right now verity sense only calculates total swimming distance as single value, so cannot be used for detailed pace analysis. While it total distance used to be precises today instead of 1000m it records only 100m. Heart rate data are fine both using arm bang or clip on swimming googles
Howdy! Just to double check, did you use the swimming mode when using your Polar Verity Sense? Here is instructions on how to do it: support.polar.com/en/how-to-use-polar-verity-sense-in-swimming-mode?product_id=105848&category=swimming The distance and pace calculations are based on the set pool length and detected turns. You can set the default pool length for swimming distance and pace calculations from the Polar Flow app settings. The sensor detects turns with an integrated gyroscope. I hope this helps.
@@PolarGlobal Thanks i just figured out yesterday that orientation of device might matter - in manual it stated it need to be button on top, and led on bottom. I dont remember how it was previously oriented, but it was opposite when distance was wrongly calculated, I'll recheck with correct orientation. And please guys switch to .fit format instead of TCX - strava didnt like it and showing 0 as total distance in swimming pools sessions, of that imported activities from verity sense, while lap distance is correct. I filed ticket to strava, but you might have more ways to influence them or your dev. Could someone help with that? Looking at TCX file from openwater that is correctly displayed, the swimming pool one xml structure looks correct besides coordinates obviously so dont know what to do.
@@RunWithMyDog yep I’ve oriented verity sense as in manual, button faced top and put it on right side of googles. Had swim in this setup two time was 1500 and 975 meters so pretty accurate and match my wristband distance. Strava team promised to fix issue with distance soon. www.strava.com/activities/5662797549 open in browser to see lap distance. Also I only swim freestyle and not doing flip turns only so called breaststroke turns - maybe this matter.
I have a Polar Grit X. When I go swimming I just start a swimming exercise session. Is there any advantage from using the verity sense? for the comments I have read also state that it doesn't track distance too well eather (Apart, when I change the distance on my phone and sync, it stays the same on the watch, maybe you can help me figure that out too).
Hola! Gracias Hello! I have a Polar Watch M400 and I would like to know why this sensor doesn´t work with some of the sport profiles on my watch. I would like to use it while recording my swimming session in the swimming-pool with the app. Isn´t possible to do what I want? Wouldn´t it be nicer to be able to start/stop/pause the recordings from the watch? Thank you.
Hi there and cheers for reaching out. I'd advise you to solely use Polar Verity Sense when swimming. The Polar M400 does not measure HR while swimming. More information can be found here: support.polar.com/en/support/swimming_with_polar_loop_and_m400
@@PolarGlobal Gracias por la respuesta. Una pena que no pueda funcionar de esa manera. De todas formas, por el momento estoy muy contento con mi nuevo sensor. Ojalá me de el mismo resultado que el que me está dando el M400. :) Thank you!
I just bought my OH1 yesterday. It has not any indication of swimming mode on it. When I press the button the lighr start to flash. So how to set the swimming mode?
When you sync Polar flow with Strava, what swim metrics will be transfered to Strava? There were posts in 2021 saying the total distance was lost. Has the issue been resolved?
Hey there! Hopefully this will clarify things a bit. For you information, we're working closely together with Strava and luckily we haven't bumped in to similar problems recently. So, Strava is not able to calculate how the user has been in the pool. This is because in practice they do not have at their disposal the data produced by the built in 3D sensors found in our devices. This follows that "Rest time" given at Flow cannot be conveyed to partners' systems. Furthermore, they don't interpret how user has paused the training session manually even though the pause times could be deduced from the data we send to them. All in all it may be a bit of a difficult to follow but let's see how we do in our attempt to explain where all the different times come from. * The file we send to Strava contains the time when user has started "Start" button and the time when user has pressed "Stop" button. The time between these two presses is the total recorded time. Most likely this is the time Strava reports. * User might manually pause the recording during the training recording and Polar Flow subtracts the pause time from the total time and reports the result as "Duration". This info is something what Strava could derive from the data we send to them but for some reason does not. * In Flow the there is also "Swimming duration" and "Rest time" visible. This information is derived from the built in 3D sensors, i.e. based on the 3D sensor data we know when the user has in fact advanced in the pool and what time they have rested. This information is unfortunately something that we can not include in the file sent to Strava as the file form (TCX file) does not make it possible to include the data. To sum up (to toot our own horn just a tad) we can say it's a bit complicated but we do really have a very good and accurate analysis in Polar Flow.
My Verity Sense isn't able to detect any stroke type (everything is "Other Swimming Style" in Flow). Laps counting is not too bad, usually works quite well.
Hey! Yes the correct mode for open water swimming would be the record mode. I'd recommend to check this article to learn more: support.polar.com/en/how-to-use-polar-verity-sense-in-swimming-mode
I buy this product recently. I have a different brand of sports watch, I see my current heart rate during my swimming training, but after the training is over, the heart rate is not saved in the training file. Is heart rate data saved with a POLAR watch in one file?
Howdy! The internal memory on Polar Verity Sense saves your workout and you can either or start your training session with the Polar Flow app or straight from Verity Sense by pressing the button and selecting the 'recording' mode. Therefore, to double check, have you started and saved your workout using the sports watch or Verity Sense? When your workout is over you should be able to sync the data to your Flow app and see what went into your session.
Hi there, you can read more about it on this page: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/support.polar.com/e_manuals/Regulatory_information/enote-rf-verity-sense.pdf I hope this helps! 😊
Howdy! Yes you can measure your heart rate in the sea as well. Moreover, I'd advice you to clean the Polar Verity Sense after the use when swimming in the ocean. Here are some useful tips: support.polar.com/e_manuals/verity-sense/polar-verity-sense-user-manual-english/caring-for-your-verity-sense.htm
In my first trial with the swimming mode, my verity sense recorded 1950 m as the total distance but I actually swam for 1700 m. Is there any possibility that I can create a workout with preset distance or edit the distance from the recording?
Thanks for reaching out! Sorry to hear you had some problems with the metrics. We suggest you check you are wearing your sensor correctly. Please find the instructions here: support.polar.com/e_manuals/verity-sense/polar-verity-sense-user-manual-english/training-in-swimming-mode.htm You can change the pool length setting after your swimming session from the training analysis view in the Flow app, and the swimming metrics will be updated accordingly. I hope this helps! 😊
Bonjour est ce que je peux nager en utilisant le verity sense synchronisé a ma montre grift? est ce que je met sur le mode A ou je dois le mette sur le mode C et il je le connecte a ma monte?
Hi there! When you're recording a swimming session, we highly recommend attaching the Verity Sense to your swimming goggles strap with the swimming goggle strap clip. This allows you to get the most accurate swimming metrics. I hope this helps! 🤗
@@PolarGlobalthanks for the feedback For the best heart rate measurement, what do you recommend in swimming pool? Lower arm, upper arm or swimming goggles?
We recommend using the Verity Sense and attaching it to your swimming goggles strap with the swimming goggle strap clip. I'd highly recommend you to check this short video about how to use Verity Sense in swimming mode: support.polar.com/en/how-to-use-polar-verity-sense-in-swimming-mode I hope this helps! 😊
Does it give more precise HR compared to the Vantage when swimming? (I found my H7 strap to be more precise then underwater optical HR from the watch, but unfortunately the strap just falls on a turn). If so, you you pair it with watch to get live HR after stopping at the end of the pool?
Hi there. If I understood your question right, then I can tell you that while swimming, Polar Verity Sense tracks your heart rate, pace and distance in the pool. Just wear it and check your data from the Polar Flow app afterward. Lastly, for open water, you can track your heart rate data while swimming. I hope this helps.
@@PolarGlobal Hi, my question was whether I can track HR during swim using Verity and display it on the watch during the training in between sets. So this way I get live HR info on the watch. So in other words, is it possible to get access to the HR data mid-session, or can I only see the HR afterwards.
@@sheevys Hi, we have a solution using the Verity Sense positioned on the lower arm 2-3 finger width above the device. The distance is short enough for the BLE signal to still be picked up under water giving you reliable HR during the swim. Have a look at a blog article I wrote on the topic - ihfproducts.co.za/blogs/swimming/accurate-heart-rate-in-swimming - - when using Polar Grit X or Polar V2, you can turn off OHR ensuring the only HR signal is from the Verity Sense. I hope this helps.
@@sheevys I have not tried it with a Garmin as I work for Polar but ANT+ signal should have similar properties in water to BLE. Will add it to my list to test.
