Excellent tutorial! I wondered what the heck I was trying to accomplish when I was "adjusting" my 96 V-Max! lol I played with it a few times and it did get better for my style of riding. Back when I started riding in 72, age 13, the only thing we had to worry about is getting a set of boggies to flip back over! lol Take care

Wish you would of included why one verses the other is used where it is. I mean why the VR1 used the Coupled and not the uncoupled. Pros and cons of each. Thanks for sharing guys. appreciate all the vids

Uncoupled for off trail purpose coupled for on trail. He said in video no stopping the uncoupled skid for transfer and provides ski lift. If there were coupler blocks the sled would when under throttle hit the blocks transfer the weight back to the front in turn keeping the front skis down for cornering.

@JESSEJAMES322 Год назад
thats a question i cannot answer. its all dependent on what the rider wants. guys get Assaults for strictly trail riding and say they would never go back. some guys go VR1 for the shorter tracks and love them for trails. the uncoupled is more playful. it lifts the skis more because where is nothing stopping the weight transfer. so really comes does to rider preference and what they want

Great video. I was surprised how well the Boost Assault rode. Is it as good as my R-MotionX XR-S? Nope, but still did will in the bumps.

they work well everywhere. I will be on one for an entire year next year and excited to work with It and get It better!

Have you ever experimented and took the coupling blocks out of an Indy skid just to make it a little more playful?
@JESSEJAMES322
@JESSEJAMES322 Год назад
you cant because the rear arm will contact the rear wheels

Love my new '22 Assault vs my old '14 Indy 800 for the reason that it has way more weight transfer and ski lift. You can also loosen the limiter strap since they have an extra pre drilled hole if you really wanna have fun! IMO the Assault handles better on trails too because the longer / deeper track won't allow it to fishtail and spin.
@JESSEJAMES322
@JESSEJAMES322 Год назад
and for some they love the ski lift and wheelies but some like to be planted. all preference buy either way they are fun!

Great video as always! I know your now on a boost and last year you rode NA 850…but wondering if you can tell any difference between the tipped rails/136 XCR from last year and this year’s VR1? Assuming someone is willing to spend the time and money into improving them like you have, do you think there is any difference in those two skids on how they ride in real conditions?
@JESSEJAMES322
@JESSEJAMES322 Год назад
trurthfully i dont notice any differnece. on paper it makes sense and in racing you want every advantage you can but i do not feel any difference.

just curious if anyone has tried putting a coupling block on the assualt and would it then operate like a coupled skid. it would be very cool if there was a option to add that you could engage it or uncouple it as you wish depending on conditions. seems like it would be the best of both worlds, crossover off trail or trail. I am wondering if the aftermarket or Polaris has thought of this. maybe it wouldn't work? would be awesome if it would. there would be a lot more assualt buyers.

@jessejames322 I wish this helped answer my question on which sled is right for me. Do you think maybe if I called south side and talked to Bruce he could point me in the right direction ?
@JESSEJAMES322

Bruce or myself cannot make that call for you. its all prefernece. you can tell me what you are looking for in a sled and i can try and point you in a direction if thats what you're looking for

I had an original Rush and an Axys Pro S. Uncoupled rising rate suspension. Are the VR1 progressive and what about the Assault?

Thanks for all your info, I really appreciate your experience and expertise! Question for you; I just put the Xtra heavy duty torsion spring on my 21 VR1 850 129 and did about 350 miles past weekend and struggled with much higher temps in ideal trail conditions in northern Maine. Any recommendations?
@JESSEJAMES322
@JESSEJAMES322 Год назад
how much higher were you seeing? only option is scratchers but ive never run them so im not too sure what ones to recommend. seen BRP tunnel mount is a big hit for guys
