I’m a bigger guy 6’2” 225lbs and I rode 2 Assaults from 2013 - 2020. (2013 Pro chassis and a 2017 Axys). I switched to a 137 VR1 in 2021 because I ride 85-90% trails and I thought I would get a big handling improvement. The VR1 is better in real tight twisty trails and the ride is better in chatter bumps, but overall I miss my Assault. The Assault is more playful on the trail and the handling is very close to a 137 VR1, plus I had to upgrade all the spring on the VR1 to to the same spec as the Assault. I would suggest setting your shock damping at the perfect ride setting in the owner manual and then making 2 click adjustments on the trail to tune the ride and handling to your liking. Enjoy the Wheelies!!!!!!

How did it feel getting on to an axys coming off the pro chassis. Looking to upgrade to an axys currently on a 14 assault

I found that the Matryx handles way better if you soften up the front a little. I had a demo last year and when I first got on it didn't handle anwhere near as good as my 22 XRS. I took a few clicks out of the front and it made all the difference in the world. Absolutely handled on rails after that.

I'm a bigger guy like you and you couldn't be more right about the 137👍👍

Yes to each their own but personally think I’m fastest on a 137”. Maybe we’ll have to do a test later on.

90% of my riding is ditch banging and try to find deep stuff (hard these days tho) I love my 21 Assault for this kind of riding. Ripping on that thing and hanging skis is so much fun! I don't care if my sled turns lol. I only have 5 rides on this unit so I'll still have to play around with the suspension settings to fine tune it for my riding.

My lord those snow conditions are atrocious. To each their own, but I can't ride my $25,000 snowmobile in such abhorrent conditions. Still enjoyed the video and your feedback.

You should hop on that Gen 5 and give us a review compared to the Polaris. I know one is a crossover and one is a trail sled but would be interested in the pros and cons of each! I’m considering ordering a renny, assault or possibly backcountry or lynx depending on if they get upgraded for my24

If you ride a Polaris you already ride the best it's no reason to change

@@UpstateBlake You should use the cord strain relief.. the little sticky tab that comes in the packaging.. takes the strain of the cord off the power port on the shield.. Agreed though.. absolutely the best snow helmet ever!

What kind of gas mileage does it get?
@UpstateBlake
@UpstateBlake Год назад
Can’t remember mileage count but we all got gas same place&time before ride. When we decided to fill up my buddies were all at 50% fuel and I was at 40%. Not crazy but does use noticeably more fuel than a NA 850.

I was getting about 12 mpg during break in on my vr1 137 boost, and I wasn't going easy on the throttle

Do you miss the SRX?
@UpstateBlake
@UpstateBlake Год назад
I miss every sled I ever owned lol. But on the SRX I don’t regret selling to get this. Wanted to go back to a 2 stroke for at least this year trail riding. I’d love to have a 4- stroke again as well eventually.

Most are private property. In this case it was state land but that’s part of what gets trails shut down or I would.
