I’ve been waiting for this tear down. I have a 74 tx 250 that I’m slowly rebuilding. There are a lot of similarities with this build. I hope you can show some content on rebuilding the brake assembly. That where I’m at with mine. And yes, my drivers were super brittle. Got a new set from dr Mario!
Sled race team name that is related to the mongoose ? Team meerkat? LOL BTW - mongooses are resistant to snake venom. Sorry Lonnie. Oh and always good to see Brad back on the channel too!
Not sure if you will see this but a video of what specifically you can swap from what year of colt.. I picked a single cylinder gemini up and I'm having a heck of a time finding parts may have an easier time finding a colt
Great video guys! Good to see the whole crew together 🍻 Just curious if you guys could convert the track to rubber? Or maybe that’s not allowed at the Wild Bill? The campfire is a great idea, I’ve heard of people doing that before 👍 Cheers boys 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Hi Rob. I have converted Colts to a rubber track. A guy needs some Arctic Cat parts but it all works out well. It's probably not going to happen for this build, but maybe on a future Colt.
Hey Nutter! I tore my primary off my 77 TX 340. It is bad! Needs rollers, buttons, and the bushing. I thought I`d ask you since you know these TX`s inside and out. Financially it is likely best to update this clutch. What is the best clutch and what years worked as per the crank stub? Thanks, Darcy
Any of the newer 32mm taper clutches fit. That is what we use. Something like a 2010 and newer 600 or 650. Blue spring and 10-44 weights for a starting point.
@@nuttersspeedshop I have a guy that has a P85 and says it is off a 2012. The closes weights he has are 10-46. Would this work for my TX 340? Anything else I need to do or will it bolt straight on using my original clutch bolt?
@@darcy32171 I don't know why it wouldn't work. It always has worked for me. Not sure which bolt i use. Probably stock, but I keep some other bolts around just in case and I really don't keep track which bolt I use where. Might need the bolt from the later sled? Worst case you need to buy a different length 7/16 fine thread bolt, grade 5 or 8. You can get the top hat bushing for the bolt from Polaris. 10-46 weights and a blue or almond spring is a good start. You can probably tune from there with a different helix and secondary spring.
I was hoping you knew a trick I don't. Every time I've tried to do slides like that it has been a complete bitch and the hard part is getting the new slide on.
@@MrStorbeck We will see on these steel rails, but in the past the trick has been to wire brush the rust, lots of WD40 and an air hammer to vibrate them into place.
