I found an issue when I got my Indy 650 out for the first time this season. I had a broken cylinder stud. Follow along as I fix it and make several test hits. The tune is SPOT ON. Super crisp and zero bog. Listen to those triple pipes sing!

I am really hoping to have my '91 650 up and running tonight, after 15 years of it being out of commission. The last hurdle is getting the stuck carb cable freed up, which was most likely the cause of my issue and not the stator I just replaced. I can't wait to hear the triple pipes again, especially without a large hole in one, due to the steering linkage bolt. Thanks to you and your videos, for getting me motivated, to get back to work on mine.

this is good stuff here, I never had any experience with sleds much other than watching snow drags, lol. but hey, your over 440 subs now, didn't take that long. these videos are the types of things I like to see, non scripted,non sponsored quality home projects. I've personally broke the same studs on my 650. I have also seen them break and fall into the clutches and trash both sheaves on primary and secondary at the same time!

Wow! I'm happy that didn't happen to me. I'm looking for some higher strength studs. Do you know if anybody ever sold them? Gotta think custom ARP would be $$$$

@@nuttersspeedshop At that time I used OEM Polaris, but I have called ARP and they are pretty helpful to find matched items they have. I have bought other cylinder studs from them. Nice stuff.

any idea where I could source studs ? I remember a couple 650s back in the day did same thing...currently building a 690 ( 70mm wiseco kit) dont want any issues I might be able to mitigate now...did ARP make a kit back in the day? Dunno...or a cylinder head girdle to stiffen? thanks

No idea on studs. Mine came from a friends parts motor. I don't have anywhere to send you for any of it. There were stud kits and head girdles back in the day. I don't know who made them.

Sweet.. Qiuck fix? ..Heck, If the compression test, with good gauge, is good...And you can tune idle mixture & speed easily and it drops back to curb idle speed quickly after WOT Blip. Then WTF? Run it! God hates a coward Ha Ha. Note My all stock 2000 ZL550 could not touch your Indy in a Drag...But That Black Dog would House you in the first 100 feet. Thanks for Video
